  1. Got same offer from my main dealer (Vic Young, South Shields) their service £133 (exl vat) & £27 for the MOT.
  2. Had the same problem myself a couple of years ago.The main dealers response was much as you’d expect, saying with their fingers crossed, "Problems with the Bose unit"! "we’ve never heard of any problems with the Bose unit mate" and "oh by the way, we notice youve paid in full for the car, so please bugger off and stop messing up my forecourt". Contacted Bose who said they didn’t make the CD unit and bowed out. Discovered that Clarion make the CD bit so contacted them but of course they get the CD units from Japan so it wasn’t their fault either. Eventually got in touch with Nissan who offered, as gesture of goodwill, to bear 75% of the repair cost (it cost me £85). They said they had fitted a brand new CD unit which they said replaced "THE EARLIER LESS RELIABLE CD UNIT".
  3. At first I thought it had to be software problems with all of those strange happenings, given that the car computer appears to take the signal from all switches as “inputs†to the computer from which it then turns on the relevant output, be it indicators or headlights etc. However if everything went back to normal again then it couldn’t be a software corruption. With my limited knowledge of modern day electronics I do know that any unused input to a computer should not be “floating†(must be connceted) as electrical noise in the engine will be seen by the computer as an input and can cause such spurious events. Even legitimate inputs, which for some reason are not making contact in their plug/socket/other (poss loose plug/socket) will be subject to the same noise problems. Poor earthing around the computer can also have a similar effect. I know this isn’t of much help as you probably (like me) have no idea where all the relevant plugs and sockets are but I’m sure the garage should be able to find them and give them a wiggle to try to recreate the fault. GOOD LUCK

  6. Noticed this very cheap cold air intake on ebay (don’t know how to attach a short cut to it, sorry) anyone know much about them or have fitted one. Cheap I know but cheap isn’t always bad (I think)
  7. Its quite obvious your dreams carry hidden meanings. The car, I would suggest, represents a suppressed lust and a need to make mad violent love. This would be consistent with your horror at loosing this object of your desires in your second dream. Now the chalk (is it white or coloured by the way) I would suggest, represents a phallus with which you feel predisposed to use in a most horrid and demeaning way on this object of your desires . Now the brillo really worries me cos I believe your subconscious is telling you to use this to “rub†away this dirty, dirty, phallus and as tempting as a nice soapy brillo, might sound to you, I can assure you that you don’t want it any where near it . Lets face it, this is sure way of giving anyone a severe headache. Heed the warning young man and get rid of all your brillo pads from your house NOW.
  8. It may be that in beetle land they too appreciate the Z, especially a nice clean one and were just gathering around to admire it, as you would. They were probably just saying to each other how they wouldn’t come out on a winters to admire any other sports car. When they saw you come back out they probably started shouting Hey you Gnats, there’s that lucky bastard who drives the thing, and your complaining -------- well there’s just no pleasing some people
  9. There are no tyre tracks in the snow or any mounds of snow you’d expect to get from moving/sliding tyres. I go for FAKE, but hey it’s a good laugh . Where is it anyway cos I could do with another exhaust .
  10. Thanks for your replies chaps, apologies Mr Husky. So it’s a good primer suitable for use on plastic to provide the key, followed by ordinary cellulose paint then. It’s just that I’ve seen pictures of under bonnet painted plastics bits and been a bit nervous to have a go in case the paint flaked or cracked as the plastic flexes. Cheers
  11. Can someone tell me if special purpose paint is required to spray the plastic bits on the car and if so what’s it called? Cheers Dicky
  12. The only smells Ive had are, If the air con has been on it smells when turned off and the clutch sometimes if I pull away fast.

HOWWWWW OW OW MUCHHHH ---"cough cough splutter choke" --- Im more your £30 quid for two type of guy. Thanks anway young man but
  14. Can anyone recommend a supplier of good quality waterproof seat covers suitable for seats with side air bags ??
  15. Thanks for your input chaps . I’m determined to get them to sort it out even if it means they get the main dealer to sort it and for them to bear the cost of any new ABS if required. I’ll also tell them I intend to get the main dealer check it over, even if they say its ok.
  16. Thought the brake pedal was a bit soft so got a quote of £70 from my main dealer to bleed them, and a £30 quote from Kwik Fit, just down the road from me. I used to bleed my own brakes and thought the cheaper quote would be ok for such an easy job. Dropped the car off and within an hour got a call saying all done, they’d replaced all the brake fluid, road tested it and all was ok. On driving home I quickly realised the soft pedal was a lot softer and I was now getting a groaning noise when I tapped the pedal quickly. Took it back, they bled them again but couldn’t find the cause of the noise. They suggested I get a second opinion and implied the noise may have been there before they started, which it wasn’t! Took it to the main dealer who thought they must have got air in the ABS system, which according to them can be a sod to bleed and implied they may even have damaged the ABS and it might need replacing £££££. They suggested I get Kwik Fit to bleed them again and pay particular attention to getting the air out of the ABS. It’s going back in on Monday and I’m sure there going to pursue the “it must have been like that when you brought it in†line . Ho hum
  17. Well what da ya know. Never noticed that before, on the other hand Ive only had the car 5yrs. Id be interested to know myself now.
  18. Apologies for the delay. The led lights are great I fitted them after having fitted a pair of led fog lamps I got off ebay, commonly know among those who read my post as the “Chip Shop Lights†(sticks & stones---) Anyway I fitted the side lights because the original filament ones looked yellow when the fogs were on. Now they all match. Sorry the pictures aren’t too good with my old phone but I’ll try to get better ones later You can see how bright they are though and how yellow the old ones were
  19. Got a price this morning. The wing liner is in two parts, the front part (damaged part) is the thick end of £50 inc vat which isn’t as bad as I thought. The round plastic clips are £1 but he didn’t have a price for the metal ones. I’m thinking now that Ty wraps are a better solution than the metal clips anyway, easy to fit and replace. Give that man a gold star
  20. Fitted led's to the front yesterday . Soon realised that the dam clips securing the wheel arch liner to the front bumper and the lower engine covers are all made of steel and end up rusted solid the day after your new car encounters rain for the first time. You obviously can’t see behind the covers so you get your 10mm spanner out and begin to turn. NOTE if you do 360˚ you’ve already done the damage. The bolt AND the clip turn and the clip destroys its locating slot in the soft plastic, so you cant fit a replacement. On completion, of what I thought would be a simple job, I’ve now got a chewed up melted plastic liner which came loose while travelling at warp factor and got heated up by a frenzied Bridgestone. Anyone know where you can lay your hands on a cheap replacement? I suppose the stealer will want about £100 for one (plus a drink for the boss of course) By the way I noticed that my covers have lots of screws scattered around underneath, where the mechanics have had the same problem during servicing. What a stupid fastening given its location the material used and the frequent need for servicing access.
  21. Looks like MarkYP may have been a little bit higher! Sorry mark glad your ok though viewtopic.php?f=9&t=21645

    How to do it

Thanks one and all. One had thought one might have to lift out ones centre console and one had already removed ones two back screws but couldn’t see how one could wangle it out after that. By the way the reason One wishes to do this??? Well you may or may not know that one is the guy with the “Chip Shop†fog lights on ones mean machine. One is fairly well know in these parts don’t one know ( see “Don’t get Jealous Nowâ€) viewtopic.php?f=9&t=21171 and one wants to switch them on and off!
  23. One was wondering if anyOne can tell One how to remove One’s switch blank mounted next to One’s heated seat switches in One’s centre console as one cant seem to hook it out?
  24. Thanks for all your input chaps. So I suppose it’s pretty much a resounding “I’m not Bloody jealous of them Mate†One big advantage though is that everyone will know who I am when driving along the road “ Oh look there’s Dicky with those Chip shop fog lights†FAME AT LAST
