  1. Have PM'ed you Kenny - thanks. I've been using Optimax for years and asked a while back about a loyalty card or the like, at the time it was only worth it if you/I spent loads and the points went over a certain amount per month I think it was, otherwise they didn’t accumulate and they were 'lost'. I probably only fill up once or twice a month (if that), don’t know if the loyalty thing is still the same?

Thanks, but it's definitely a proper clunk - I’m starting to think more along the lines of it being the boot lid (unless there is a suspension/axle problem as well) because I’ve done the ‘pennies in the boot spring’ thing as per the other thread and I think the clunking is a bit better. Perhaps the extra strength of the spring with the pennies in is holding the lid a bit firmer against the catch. Might try another penny, will be 4 each side (god this is costing me a fortune!!) and probably as much as it could fit and see if it makes any difference. Could do with tightening the boot catch if anyone knows how to?

    I've got the Nismo - am really happy with the sound, dos'nt sound aftermarket at all.
  5. I wondered about the boot lid, not sure how to 'tighten' the catch? Think I’ve got all the bits - the jack, lever, and a small spanner thing. The spare wheel won’t budge, nor will the jack as I’ve opened it a bit to wedge in the space. Don’t think its anything from inside the boot, may be the boot lid or something mechanical from the rear end.
  6. Welcome You can’t go wrong with the Nismo - sounds standardish but just that bit extra, Nissan could have sold it as an option and called it a sports exhaust may be like Porsche do.
  7. Finally got around to taking the wheel and jack etc out of the boot, had a good look/feel around - nothing else was loose, went for a drive and the cluncking sound is still there. Any other ideas? Revsport, that picture would be really helpful, thanks.
  8. Thanks guys Have been away for a few days, but will 1st try taking everything out of the boot and then if it still continues will take it to a stealer. What’s a traction arm bolt? (Obviously I know it’s a bolt)
  9. Thanks Liam Doesn’t sound like a click, more a bump/clunk? Good idea, could take the spare wheel and jack out etc and see if it stops. It could even, although I don’t think it is, be the boot knocking, do you know if its able to ‘tighten’ the catch at all? – had a similar thing on a hatchback once.
  10. Hope this doesn’t open up a can of worms, but something’s bugging me….. I can hear a bit of a clunk/bumping noise when going slowly over not 100% perfect road, definitely is coming from the rear, possibly the right but can’t be certain. The car was up on the ramps a couple of weeks ago and the exhaust was fine – wouldn’t budge, so unless it’s knocking against something when it gets hot I don’t think it’s that. Sounds more suspension or drive train like, never had a modern rear wheel drive so may be its just part and parcel of rwd. It might even be say the boot or the spare wheel, although I don’t think it is. Dose anyone else hear this, or knows what it might be? Thanks.
  11. Passed my CBT on Sunday and my theory today - just need to book some time off for the Direct Access course and then that’s it!

  13. Haven’t yet, am taking my CBT tomorrow, then my theory on Tuesday, then have to take a week off sometime to do the 'direct access' course, so later on this year hopefully. The insurance quotes were really cheep, will start off on a 600 Hornet at £300 and then work up. Just for a bit of fun I typed in R6....... £800 - bring it on!! Will only go 70mph on it though so as not to **** Sarnie off.

I had a look at S2000's amongst others when choosing the Z, they're really nice cars, feel well built etc, until I had driven the Z it was probably the fastest non-turbo (STI/EVO etc) car that I had driven. Felt wicked taking it up to 9/10k revs or whatever it is, but the Z is just some much more powerful at lower revs, obviously we all know the bhp/lbt figures but on the road the Z is in another league!
  15. Get a bike and we could meet up at the Cafe!! I had a bit of fun with an AMV8 the other day, the power of that thing is in another league to the Z – hope it works out for you!! Oh metallic grey with blood red interior looks nice!

  17. That was the Avon tyre I couldn’t remember the name, yes apparently they are wicked - comparable to the TR1's.

  19. The problem is getting a matching set front and back, the F1's are IMO the best tyre out there but they don’t do it in a 225 45 18 size - shame as I would have definitely bought a set.
  20. From finding out about them myself, I think you have to buy a module thingy so that the seat air-bag sign doesn’t come on as it will think there is a problem.
  21. Front and back are both 45's so: 225 45 18 front and 245 45 18 on the back. You will have a problem getting a good set of matching front and backs, have a look at some of the recent threads on the subject. In short, apart from budget tyres, the best seem to be Toyo T1R, Pirelli Rossos and Avon (can’t remember the model).

Was thinking about something similar myself - I've got an 8 inch scuff on the passenger seat thanks' to the girlfriend, am looking into getting the bolster recovered but its going to cost a relative fortune. Am not overly happy with the side supports of the seats anyway so thought about getting extra bolster added and its all adding up £££â€“ therefore thought about fitting a nice set of Recaros. Sat in a Clio Trophy the other day – the Recaro’s were wicked, had them in my old Golf – very supportive. So how much were the seats & runners etc?

In the past when I wanted to transfer my registration or put it on retention I just used to go and wait at the DVLA office while they produced the new tax disc, was able to change the number plate later that day and then just wait a couple of weeks for the new V5. The rules have changed now and you have to send off to transfer the registration, or in your case Hagar put it on retention while you buy your new car. If you don’t have the new car already to ‘swap’ the registration you have to put it on retention, it’s a bugger and especially if you are selling a car as it takes a while longer. Unfortunately you should have done it in advance; the only other thing to do would be to postpone selling the car for a couple of weeks or sell the car with the plate on for a quick sale. (Oh by the way that trip to the Ace café got to me – I’m learning to ride a bike!!!!)
