  1. To cut a very long story short I'm going to have all 4 wheels refurbished, as one was refurbed plain silver (rather than the OEM 'smoke-chrome' colour) by the previous owner, and another wheel was scuffed by a tyre fitter. Anyway, the place where I always take my wheels has said that they could get an OEM 'smoke-chrome' (or whatever its called) colour and all four would match, but if I was to curb one in the future they wouldn't likely be able to match it to the existing others - they would all need to be done again. I can therefore just go for a standard 'normal' colour such as a various shades of silver, or grey etc. The car is metallic grey and I quite like the OEM grey/silver finish but don't want to tempt fate by getting them done in the 'smoke chrome' therefore was thinking of gun-metal metallic grey?? Has anyone any photos please of a grey 370Z with grey wheels or any other sensible suggestions, I guess its got to be anywhere between silver and black........ Thanks!!
  2. The weight removal mod worked a trick, the boot now pops up a few cm's and stays up!! I also put a couple of metal washers in the poppers, which seems to make thinks a bit 'firmer', not sure what all the worry about damaging the paint is as there already is a solid rubber washer and also a rubber male 'button' that fits into the rubber female housing to protect the paintwork from the spring, i.e. two layers of rubber, so I simply put the metal washers between the springs and the rubber washers/buttons.
  3. Thanks, will see how I get on first removing the weight, if not then will give it a go.
  4. Thanks, found the guide in the 370Z section, will give removing the weight a go tomorrow.
  5. Thanks, nope just the standard spoiler, the car is 3.5 years old though so the popper springs may be tired. Will have a look at removing the boot weight though. What's the boot weight for then if its not necessary??
  6. I'm sure I read a similar thread but cant find it. My boot doesn't release fully when I press the little button by the number plate, it unlocks but unless I pull the boot up at the same time it doesn't release properly. Is there a fix for this, or is it just something they all do? Thanks.
  7. I'm in the same boat, just want it to sound a little more sporty but not enough to warrant the hassle and cash of fitting a full-system. I'm therefore having some silencer delete pipes made and fitted on the 4th, the system is stock so this will just then leave the OEM CATS & back-box, will hopefully keep it sounding standard but just a little louder - and all for £90!! Will let you know after they've been fitted....
  8. Thanks, not sure I know what the difference is but hopefully it'll become apparent when I actually see them. The link above refers to them as blades rather than wipers so presumably they're the correct ones and I've made a note of the Part number.
  9. Hey guys, sorry to highjack the thread but I was in Halfords last night as wanted to pick up some new wiper blades, the Bosch guide in store didn't list any for the 370Z?? I asked at the parts counter and they looked on the system and again couldn't find any listed. The Bosch web site doesn't list any for the 370Z, but presumably ones for another model also fit the 370Z.... The link above does list some for the 370Z though (thanks for that - very useful!), couple of questions - Are these any better than OEM? And are there any better while I'm at it? Does anyone please have the Bosch part number for the rear blade - or is this the same as the front driver's side (do the front blades come with the spoilers??) Thanks!!
  10. I took it for a spin last night (only bought it on Saturday) and I was really amazed just how quiet the exhaust is, almost all the 'noise' is from the engine and the induction. Obviously this sounds like a really chavvy thing to say but I want my sports car to sound like a sports car - just like a standard 911 for example. A 911 with a factory sports exhaust IMO sounds fantastic but the noise would be too loud for the 370Z. I'm seriously thinking about fitting some HFK's as I can do this myself and they're not too much money - I don't want to go to the hassle and cost of fitting a full system. I'm surprised that no companies have designed some silencer delete pipes for the standard system - all the aftermarket systems look to delete the silencers and just leave the back-box but presumably the bore is larger than standard so not interchangeable.
  11. The first question I asked RJN was whether a Nismo exhaust was available retrofit for the 370Z and apparently there isn't. Presumably the exhaust already fitted to the Nismo 370's is not available retrofit (I guess it may be in individual sections through Nissan parts dept. at mega-money.) RJN have designed a system with Janspeed, so will investigate this, or like I say may be the Miltek. It would've just been so much easier and cheaper if there was a silencer-delete pipe that could be fitted to the standard system (like a de-cat pipe). It wouldn't interfere with the Cats and would just release a little more noise. While we're on the subject, what is the standard system made up of, from manifold to tail-pipes?
  12. Thanks, you are probably right, I just kind of want to leave the car totally standard though and enjoy it as it is because I've wasted £10,000's in the past messing around with perfectly good cars and also it becomes addictive. IMO the only thing the 370Z is missing is a bit more of a voice, nothing 'aftermarket' sounding but just as if it came like it as standard. I went to RJN Motorsport (370Z GT cars, Nissan Playstation academy cars) to have a Nismo CBE fitted to my old 350Z and it sounded perfect and as if the car had come like it as standard. I guess that's what I'm looking for with the 370Z. I've spoken with RJN again and they may possibly have a Janspeed CBE, or may be just the back-box on its own, apparently it sounds just what I'm after and I trust their opinion. Will be speaking with them further in the NY. The other alternative I've looked at is a Miltek CBE as have fitted many to previous cars and they all seem to produce an OEM sound - but just a bit MORE - just like I want....
  13. Hi depending on how bad the scratch is you might want to try polishing it with some Meg's Ultimate Compound. I found that works quite well on the B pillars. Thanks, would've tried it but it is quite badly scratched so didn't bother. The previous owner was a lady and they look to be bag or coat marks from getting in and out. I've ordered a new trim now so should be with me for Saturday.
  14. Point made and if it was on an old 'cheap' car I would - and have done in the past. But on an almost new sports car, spending £86 (which itself is a joke for a lump of plastic!) is acceptable. I'm not sure where the idea of replacing both sides has come? - I've always said it was just the driver's side. The only niggle on the whole car is the driver's side B-pillar trim so replacing it for £86 is not too much to worry about. Plus saving £66 to then spend best part of a weekend sanding a few coats of primer, rubbing down in-between, and then a few coats of colour and lacquer is money well spent - I'd rather be out with my wife enjoying my weekend and driving my new toy.
  15. 2 studs and slide up off the 3rd stud iirc, this one will prob break if you just pull on it in this weather, like mine did. The Nismo carbon trims are stick-on rather than a replacement, therefore for £86 inc vat I will just replace it with a new one. Thanks for the advice with the studs - presumably the two studs are at the bottom which pull away from the door and then the 3rd is at the top which slides up after the two at the bottom are free? Thanks again.
  16. Thanks, they look to be polished plastic rather than painted (I could be wrong) and also I wouldn't bother spraying them myself when new ones are available for £80.
  17. Thanks, yeah, they look fantastic! - any idea where to get them?
  18. Thanks, it wont matter if I break it removing it as will be replacing it. It looks like its available through Nissan so will pop to my dealer's parts dept at the weekend and order one. Cant remember how much he said it was but I think it was about £70-something (probably plus vat!!).
  19. Thanks Would HFC's on a standard system really make that much difference? When I had my 350Z with the Nismo system I ruined it when I put some HFC's on so took them straight off - but may be it was the combination of both together?!
  20. A-ha - thanks very much!, are there any Nissan traders on here that I could order though? Just to confirm - this is for a 370.
  21. Thanks, don’t really want to fit a whole new back-box if I can, was hoping, like mentioned, if its just able to replace a silencer of similar?? Definitely don’t want to fit any induction kits, its exhaust noise I want - just a tad - like a 911 with a sports-exhaust....
  22. Hi I would like to replace the shiny black plastic trim on the driver's door that runs vertically up along side the window. I cant remember sat at my desk whether its part of the door itself or if it is on the B-pillar (I think it’s the door). Mine is scratched by a previous owner, am happy to break it while removing but if obtainable would the new part simply push/clip/stick in place or would I need to strip the door down? Any idea on prices? Thanks!
  23. Hi I bought a 370Z at the weekend so I've reinstated my Profile from when I used to be on here years ago when I had a 350Z. The car will only a weekend cruiser and IMO is lovely as standard therefore I don’t plan to do any mods - other than it could do with a bit more noise!! I had the Nismo system fitted to the 350Z and it sounded great but I don’t want to go to the hassle and also the expense of fitting a system again. Are there any simple mods such as just replacing one of the silencers (not sure how many they've got??) or like on the GTRS the Y-piece?? Or will it be a case of replacing just the back-box? Thanks and good to be back!
