  2. I did ask him on the phone, and he said straight away to forget it and go through insurance. At that point I knew there was something iffy. camera: first thing I told her! that's what mobile phones are for! witnesses: again will pass this on to her, good advice mirror...she swears she was looking
  3. not myself, but Debbie's experience of course. She is wiser now, I guess you learn from your mistakes. Tim, what do you mean I might have got away scot free? as in he probably wouldn't have bothered reporting it to the insurance?
  4. what you on about mate? getting confused with the OC? look at the list
  5. Hi guys, on Friday Debbie had a VERY minor bump in the Yaris in a cinema car park in Liverpool. She was reversing out, she said she checked and there was no car on the lane so she started reversing out. Apparently out of another car park space, another car (fiat stilo) started driving in the middle lane and Debbie hit his front passenger side bumper, so lightly that it didn't make ANY mark on Debbie's car. There was a VERY minor scratch on his bumper, but Debbie failed to take a picture of the damage, as she was a bit stressed out by the whole thing, being the first time it had happened to her. The guy mentioned the fact that he'd been ok to have it sorted without involving the insurance companies, to which Debbie said he'd get back to him after speaking with me. She came home and told me what happened and the guy on Saturday rang her to tell her that to sort it it would be £145. At this point I started handling the situation: Debbie's excess is £250. She will have 3 yrs NCB at the end of April. Either way, she would have had to pay for it out of her own pocket, and not knowing the extent of the damage, I agreed to pay the £145, with the intention to go to his house today with G3 and G10 and see if it could be polished out. I can honestly say the guy has just ripped us off, but I don't think we had any other option, as if she went through the insurance she would have had to still pay up to the £250 excess AND lose her NCB. The guy had been smart enough to get a witness statement too, but the scratch was so minor and on the surface that it would have come off extremely easily with a little G3. I offered to sort it for him there and then and he refused, saying he'd worked at a bodyshop and you could cut through lacquer with the G3, which is bullshit as by hand there's no way in hell you can do that. At that point I told him that if he had worked at a bodyshop, he'd know full well that the quote was way too much and he was ripping us off properly. I had him sign a document saying he'd received the money and that was a full and final settlement for the damage, and no other action would be taken. At that point I gave him the money and f@cked off. Do you think there would have been any other way to keep Debbie's NCB and pay less for the minor repair, which a Chipsaway would ahve probably sorted for no more than £50?
  6. VX220s are quick cars, but the Turbo versions are nicer
  7. mind you Fairy liquid is very good at stripping ANYTHING previously residing on your paintwork.... once in the lifetime of the car will suffice though
  8. just Chris's addition to the automatic word filter... he's a family guy
  9. loved nana moon's white Z. Tbh it's not flat white, it's pearlescent in the same way as the yellow, in the sun it looks absolutely stunning, love it
  10. looks like your Z hasn't seem the road for a while... those disks need using! wuldn't worry about that rust btw
  11. offset is linked to the model of the wheel. Whoever sells them to you should be able to advise you if they will clear Brembos mate.
  12. personally I think the DBA craze was dictated mostly by the seller himself, being trustworthy etc helped for sure. If he sold Project Mu's it'd have probably been the same story. I'm sure both brands top of the range disk will be an improvement over oem. My view is, don't upgrade expensive stuff until you actually have to replace it anyway. PS when I emailed my contact, he had a few in stock as well btw. (that was a few weeks ago) WRT to organising the GB, this is surely not going to be difficult as there's no "people movements" involved, it's a matter of getting the money from the members, pay the distributor and get the parts.
  13. yeah would be no point in going to St.Helens or anywhere far tbh, again it would defy the object of saving the money in the first place
  14. thing is, it defies the object of saving money in buying tyres cheaper elsewhere
  15. Dorian, with respect, DBA 5000 series aren't "standard" stuff. They are DBA's top of the range disks.. No idea how much Bigphil is selling them at, and tbh I'm not interested. I've only heard absolutely glowing reviews on Project Mu stuff from people I trust and specialised magazines etc, so it's a no-brainer for me. Personally I believe Project Mu are actually better than DBAs but that's my opinion only. With regards to the EBC disks.... they admit on their own website... "Please be realistic when assessing this product and before buying. If you have a brake problem or your car does not stop adequately, fitting this product will not provide the solution. These are standard size OEM replacements with cosmetic surface adjustment that provide limited benefit as explained below. If you have a serious brake deficiency you should consider first checking that your car is properly maintained and serviced, and/or considering oversize brake rotor kits. People often ask "Do sport rotors really do anything ???" and our honest answer is - in most cases and at speed, they do. First the cooling advantage is simple physics so YES they cool pads and rotors but the surface area reduction (again simple physics) actually means LESS braking UNLESS you change the brake pads for a higher friction compound such as EBC to compensate. Every one of EBC pads offer significantly higher stopping than most aftermarket and OEM pads (according to our dyno tests) and one extensive independent vehicle test conducted on a closed race track in the UK on a Sport compact (Golf GTi) showed EBC pads to stop several car lengths faster than three popular USA aftermarket brands tested. Add this extra friction to the better cooling and you have better brakes. Extra benefits of sport rotors are not often spoken about but are very worthwhile. This is the effect the slots have on maintaining a flat smooth pad surface during the pads wear life. The slots encourage the pads to wear with a more flat pattern and the "Ribbing" common with non slotted rotors does not appear. This removes the "Record groove" effect of pads on plain rotors, particularly around the outer edge and helps pads maintain better contact area with the rotor through their life. As far as EBC is concerned this is the MAJOR benefit of sport rotors over all others as honestly speaking EBC pads have such a high temperature rating they don't NEED degassing. We test all pads to temps over 1000 degrees." I thought about the EBC disks too, but tbh the PMU's are in another league
  16. actually I would have wanted different bell colours, but Project Mu only makes their stuff in that green the stuff is absolutely amazing though, a lot of the italian 350z club members have it, and we are talking about Ring fanatics... one guy managed to get his brembo calipers colour fade, he got them so hot! and yes those are nice WORKs
  17. ok guys I have the email of mr Masato in my work laptop I'm afraid but he mentioned discounts for x amount of pieces too... write down your interest here and I'll give him a ring in the next few weeks. As I said this is not going to be straight away, and I won't split orders as that may mean less discount since we might not reach the numbers he wants for the discount. I seem to remember for the SCR-PRO excluding shipping (from Italy, shouldn't be too bad, could also involve my cousin who works for DHL if I manage.... )somewhere in the region of £400ish (could be £450). (would still be some saving vs Funkystiling's price of £535 incl vat if I manage to mess with the shipping and confirm the extra discounts.) this is for the fronts only
  18. he must be, but he's a nice guy, he gave a Navara the other day for my P3 :teeth:
  19. Jacko you cheeky biatch They are powdercoated Billy, ask Ming on here for details
  20. for a sensible price, may I add. I got my Toyos for the WORKs from Andy, and went to my local Kwik-Fit who mounted my original tyres to the brand new alloys about 2 years ago. Today they refused to do it (I didn't buy the tyres from them in either occasion! ) quoting Company policy. Same for a National Tyres garage I'd used before and where I got my Milltek fitted. Same story at another Kwik-fit.... went to an ATS garage and they said they'd do it.... FOR £50! when I told him no way, the guy had the cheek to say "you want them balanced, right?" WTF? going to take no longer than what, 15-20 minutes for both tyres? Since when a tyre fitter is paid £150/hr??? madness! I'm sure I paid about £35 for 4 tyres mounted and fitted at the Kwik-fit I used the first time! It's not even a case of putting them on the car, as I'm going to do it myself, the tyres and alloys are in the Yaris ready to be mounted! Found another place who wants £20 per tyre, they'll be open on Saturday... Is it me or this is still quite expensive??? Suggestions welcome
  21. haven't they got too much lip at the back to be Nismos?
