  1. its not a little white lie its a big one, i think they call it insurance fraud
  2. cheers mark, was just outside getting the spacer to measure pitch and diameter would be great
  3. the spacer is exactly 22 mm thick so i guess i'll need something like a 80mmx5mm bolt. i am right in thinking these are an alan key head
  4. am waiting on my carbon plenum before fitting and then going for a remap at abbey, i'm aiming for about 2 weeks time for the remap as it will be half term (haven't checked with abbey yet ) i'll try adam see if he can send me some
  5. got it from zmanalex, no bolts with it, just the spacer, fitting it because it looks nice
  6. No answer on the other thread I take it, if you can wait until tomorrow I can go out and take one of them out and give you a measure, Id bring it to a engineering place and just hand them the bolt and ask them if they do it in xxx mm, worked the last time I needed a bolt (amazing). Go past there from time to time so if you want me to pick you up 4 I could and post them. Possibly cheaper to sort out yourself yeah nothing on the other thread, got the impression no one was reading it. might be a plan, am happy to pay for them, haven't got anyone near me to take it to. and need the bolt in the engine so i can drive there also out of interest, how far do the bolts go into the plenum? i suppose if they are too long i can cut them down
  7. i'm due to fit my new plenum and throttle body spacer soon and do all at the same time etc. what i need to know is the bolt dimensions of the current 4 bolts used to hold the throttle body onto the plenum. i need to find 4 new ones that are about an inch longer to allow for the spacer. or if someone can supply me with some would be even better
  8. i thought the plenum spacer was one of the few mods that gave a gain without the need for a retune
  9. i think the varis is better than the others. but it also matches in with the rest of the carbon.
  10. never heard or seen that one before. well advertised by the daily mail now everyone will want one. i do tend to take the mail with a pinch of salt, they are brilliant at over hyping a situation. end of the day, a knifes a knife, you get stabbed with any blade its not going to be good.
  11. without having it in front of me i'm not sure i can help
  12. ah i see, i used a richbrook one, identical to this one off of ebay http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/TITANIUM-RICHBROO ... 225wt_1165
  13. not 100% sure what you mean. my top grub screw goes through the gaitor ring, the hand brake cover and into the original handbrake where i drilled and tapped a threaded hole into first.
  14. if they have already done a few hundred, then they should be scrubbed in. whats your brother think of them? as they are on his car, you said if he wasn't happy it was me your coming after for recommending them to you
  15. think its an ings, but with a different center section
  16. brain cells are obviously optional in those 2 cars
  17. tempted to do it then vinyl wrap it. i might get a scrap one so if it goes tits up it doesn't matter, and i'll still have the original to put back on if i sell up, especially as its such a permanent mod.
  18. would love to do that to my bonnet, but haven't got the balls to cut into it not with out a guide, and someone else to hold my hand
  19. some are worse than others, depends on how much release agent they put on. normal scrubbing distance is about 300 miles, or a tank of fuel. which ever comes up first really. my sessantas were squeeky for a few hundred miles when first fitted.
  20. this reminds me of another thread where people were talking about seat leons and other hot hatches that were quicker. do you remember a thread about a race spec'd out and turbo'd lada/skoda, something old and naff (i can't remember) it was faster than a lambo and other exotica. its the same principal here. the other car might keep up, but i know what i would prefer to be driving.
  21. good right up dan, with some good comparisons, was this straight after fitting, or had they been scrubbed in? i've cetainly noticed an improvement after 2000 miles
  22. you also said you started in low revs, should have been up at at 3k rpm to make better use of the gear.
  23. i have no problems with gritters.... as long as i'm in front of them
