  1. BMW would happily sell them those engines to design around as long as theyre limited and they can eat into those profits. BMW have a lot to gain from a radical GRMN version. Toyota fanboys would lap it up and BMW would get their cut in profits. Where fanboys are concerned, its all star trek focused spectacles. Its not a BMW its a Toyota. £72,000+ 510hp lightweight car touching budget Supercar territory. On the flipside if they wanted exclusivety they may never have given the B58. They may never have worked with Toyota in the first place. The B58 has proven to be their most reliable engine in recent years so I guess theyve chosen to stick with it and keep making them for Toyota. Meanwhile BMW moved forward with S58 and S65 engines. It may be far fetched now but I wont be suprised. As Toyota can style a near FT-1 the fanboys complained about and save face for the final year or two maybe. Its still possible on the current car. I do see them going extreme instead
  2. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.motor1.com/news/436876/toyota-supra-six-speed-manual/amp/ Toyota Supra may get a manual gearbox from 2022. Not long after the release of the Z Also a quote from Supramkv forum supraboi said: ↑ Idk how I feel about the chrome on the roof line. It could make the car look tacky. Can't be any worse than tacking on 8 fake vents.
  3. all good, while that engine was great it did lack puff post 6800k revs. Easily fixed with an ECU tune though. For what it is it was fairly reliable and really forgiving on MPG on a long run. Its emissions are quite high. This vr30 throws out 210kg fm 38 kg less. It could be further reduced with some tuning. If the car by some miracle costs £39,999. You could be paying £150-£250 in road tax With this VR30 we can go from 276 ft lbs to 350 ft lbs in a 1500,kg car which would put the performance close with the m2 Competition and Supra. 350ft lbs was the q60. A smooth luxury coupe with 5 second acceleration in an 1800kg car. A Z needs at least 380-406 ft lbs in a 1550kg car. Maybe they can get the weight down but the cost will be factor. Can get the acceleration down to a reliable 4 seconds with those torque numbers and the right wheels Again the engine is still up in the air. Nissan are conservative with numbers for reliability. There is potential for a Nismo trim to come with 400-410 ft lbs and some extra horsepower which is dead level with the M2 comp. I Just dont expect a huge hike over standard GT.
  4. I think the changes will be a bit more of a change than the previous gen. Also while Nissan can make a 4 liter V6 that's naturally aspirated like Porsche Its easier and more cost effective to use an already existing Turbo engine. Although its already a few years old. With some fine tuning I think it could be a good fit. They may need to rework it to sound better as Im yet to hear a great sounding Q60 It would be a real possibility for many. I think with more striking colours combined with the design youre looking at a car that ticks most boxes aesthetically. A 90s rear design with a modern look at the front. The overall shape a bigger 240Z. There will also be an aftermarket for things like rear spoilers front lip etc that may not come with the car to really set it off.
  5. Highly unlikely to be the same engine. Most likely a VR30DDTT from Q60. Only thing is its 4 years old and Will need to be fined tuned to meet EU regulations should it come to Europe Would be a safe bet to tune it to comply with EU as they have the strictest emission rules. R36 would cost a lot more. Up to 4 times. Around a billion dollars. Also highly unlikely they would use the R35 platform it would be a totally new car. Nissan have cash reserves but would rather use money from general sales to develop a new car. The GTR sales are just as bad. The lower cost of the Z development is more cost effective
  6. lool years of pain. They never said it would be easy! Now I know how the Z advocate feels presenting his case for a new Z to the board with those low sales numbers....
  7. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.motor1.com/news/434778/nissan-400z-not-hybrid/amp/ Full reveal coming. 50/50 chance of CGI/Real I believe the car exists in the metal so a concept right now. Hopefully we will see it before the end of the year.
  8. Hot topic then. Long post. What could stop it from coming to market? Covid 20 Extreme financial losses Recession New CEO or CFO Change of board members etc etc In early 2019 around the time I posted about the Alpine the rumours were regaining traction regarding an interview Alfonso Albaisa supposedly had at a motorshow. Around the same time I spoke to a senior sales man at Nissan London West and I think we chatted for 20 minutes. He claimed hes been to Japan a few times and met Tamura and Albaisa. Chief Engineer and Vice President of global design for Nissan. He said to me a new Z is coming but no GTR. I didnt believe him 100% but I posted in some threads saying something similar. Obviously the castration followed stating no case for a new Z based on sales in EU. Little did anyone know that the business case was already approved in fall 2018 according to a former shareholder. I then spotted a video by r35addict i watched again in which I noticed him in the background. He had invited Tamura to Manchester to speak about the then ongoing r36 project in 2017. Now on hold. So he was telling the truth about knowing Tamura. Nissan didnt foresee having huge financial losses in 2019 but the business case made more sense and was likely to be approved and not withdrawn. Which is why its still a go despite 2019 losses. The thing that made me laugh was that that teaser was released during a pandemic. I have a feeling it was done on purpose. No better way to fire shots at the naysayers than announcing 10 plus new models over the next 18 months during Covid 19 culminating with Z. It makes sense that a new Z would use the current underpinnings. A new platform will cost a serious amount of money hence the GTR being put on hold for post recovery. The latest business update from few days ago reiterates the target 2023 date for review of 3.5 year old models as well as investments and planning for the next gen models The new Z will use current 370Z platform and ill assume that any potential new platform in 2025 would be shared with the current Nismo Leaf Race Car developed with tech from Formula E. The only justification for a new platform would be Electrification or a move towards. Current the Leaf Race car has a 3.4 seconds to 60 time using 2x 120kwh batteries. Right now is too expensive to put on the market. This would definitely save Nissan money. As by 2025 if they chose to go Electric or Hybrid Petrol. It would have been tried and tested for 5 years. By 2025 120kwh x2 may be normalised to around £40,000 who knows. Im sure with some sorcery that could even be tuned to compete with the upcoming Tesla coupe around a track maybe. The GTR may become a Tesla coupe competitor in 2030. The new Z will sport all new body panels, lights, bumpers. The rigidity bars, beams, frame will most likely stay the same. A similar roof line but different boot and rear end New shocks, fine tuned engine, New Lights, New seats, new interior, New Exhaust to suit the car, new interior materials, new dash, new steering wheel, new infotainment system, new parts. Safe to say its a very heavy facelift as thats what Nissan have invested. That's all they are willing to invest until 2025. That was the only way a new Z would happen. Unfortunately you cant please everyone. I learnt that the hard way. But there are 1000s of users who would be pleased at the possibility of a new model when we thought hope was lost. Yes the 350Z was a new car from the ground up with a serious amount of money invested. Apparently it took 1.5 years from final design to full release. The new Z was designed and clay modelled in late 2018 according to this same insider as part of the business case. 3 years to release is a long time. Lately Ivan Espinosa has said the Z will be revealed soon. It wont be hybrid or Electric. So the next 5 years could be your last chance to get a Petrol Z Thats new Also I like what Nissan are doing now with the Leaf Race car. Instead of chucking £500 million into R and D for the Z now to release next year like the Germans. Chuck in half that for the 2021 model and start Research and Development now for a totally new car in 2025 along with the GTR
  9. Without a subscription you would still need a pay monthly sim so the device can be communicated with. Hardwired for power. Cant think of anything specific just beware of low quality products. I myself got Tracker.co.uk to install mine. £350 for 12 months at the time. VHF trackdr old school.
  10. I must have been lucky as I pulled out of one that BMW were selling and found a 4 month old ex demo with 3k miles for 26k was meant to be 30k. A new one one at that price is how much they should be selling for now as theyre end of life practically.
  11. Has been tried and tested. I think injectors and some other bits were the weak points. Maybe that why its the expected go to for an engine but id say 90% guaranteed. Its ready, with some tweaks for emissions and efficiency could be potent. Id like the final models late in development to add a hybrid battery which would help with acceleration and driving around town before going fully Electric. If they go fully Electric im not sure they be willing to do what they did with the leaf race car. Adding 2 x 120kw batteries with 0-60 in 3.4 seconds. I mean going by the kia niro 64kw costs £37,000. It may be cheaper in 5 years we shall see. Then its not a Z anymore. Just a Nissan Leaf in a bodykit
  12. yeah in comparison to what? A Posha that costs £47,000 at the base for the 4 cylinder. Journalists need to get real when making comparisons. Comparing a rideable Zebra Donkey to a Full fledged race horse isnt a thing. The R and D is just on a different level. We accept that lol
  13. My brother thinks 911 platform is the basis for all Porsche cars? He forgets that Boxster and Cayman outsell the 911. Without those two cars would a 911 exist? Maybe, maybe not. Yes he had the 2015 Carrera NA, 911 Turbo S for a month and the latest 911 Carrera S not many options for a month. All I keep hearing is that those cars arent 911. Lol...Seems like a snobbish argument between Porsche fans to be had. Hes very snobbish about Caymans, Boxsters and GT4/GTS when i mentioned i like them as a non porsche fan....saying its not a 911...am I missing something here....or are they different brands lol Regarding modding....hes 100% not a modder and likes everything standard not even a remap. Maybe the mod scene would view these kinds of car people as bought not built brigade lol...which is essentially what makes up majority of z33/z34 crowd. Even if all they did was add an exhaust or go faster stickers its still built lol Porsche sales are impressive and im sure they arent content with these numbers either.
  14. no specs or information have been released. Just CGI shadow.
  15. I live in North West London. I see more panameras and macans than Caymans, 911 and Boxsters. SUVs are a lot here. Sports cars are here too but less than SUVs. Im in the city lots of youngsters drive SUVs to carry their mates around. I dont think its limited to families with 2.5 kids
  16. They frankly dont outsell Germans anywhere. Japanese also love european cars. Based purely on that. These cars shouldn't exist. Probably explains Mazda, Hyundai and Kia stance on performance cars. The Stinger might soon be Electric. Thank goodness for Nissan, Honda and Toyota. The vanity project continues. @ebized i cant see much tech in the new Z apart from POSSIBLE valvetronic, LSD and start/stop for emissions. The tech will remain in their SUVs etc. Whatever that may be in 16 months. If people want game changer just chuck up an extra £20-£40,000 for the privilege and then they can leave Z shortcomings to the fanboys to deal with? lol Hoping for a lighter car to make up for lack of gimmicks and gizmondos
  17. well its not really a suggestion but i did see a 2015 370 roadster for sale. Had me scratching my head lol
  18. Development of a new car on a new platform from the ground up of a GTR according to a former shareholder is close to a billion dollars. Thats why the R36 is on hold until 2023 at least until the have recovered losses from the last 2 years. Similar costs could be applied to a totally new Zed. The car will be at least £45,000 as the Supra is around £52,000. Design wise it will look slimmer and less bulky which was the complaint with the 370...... people wanted it to return to the original. A simpler design than the Supra with less busy curves and plastic bodykit A 4 pot Cayman will still be more expensive with barely any options. They are bringing back more 6 cylinder options at the very least will be £65,000. Competition is around the £50,000 mark and this car will undercut all of them. If UK doesnt buy America and Canadian market will make up for it. Why wouldn't young people buy a retro looking car. The designer said the car isnt completely retro looking. Its still a modern car with some retro looking cues.. Lots of young people are buying the Honda E despite its poor range. Nissan probably wont make £250 million from sales. Thats what the volume sales of SUVS and Trucks are for. So people need to go buy SUVs and fund the vanity projects involving sports cars for people who dont need more than 2 seats. Sports cars have their uses for the brand like Marketing capabilities. People see the 370 Nismo and think that cant be a Nissan. Is that a Nissan, says it is. Didnt know they make cars that look like that. Might visit later on..etc...Ends up buying an SUV...which in turn funds the existence of a 12 year old Z and another one. The uk management are definitely interested in bringing it to the uk having spoken to a GTR Salesman. We just need joe public on board or they might skip EU altogether. Which is fine as maybe some dealers will import them from Japan.
  19. wow, pretty much a twin turbo excluding labour costs. Glwts
  20. Same could be said about the Supra with just over 2800 sold in US. Toyota decided they will end Production in 2025 with a GRMN version using the M3/M4 Engine apparently. (3600 cars sold in 2019 US and EU). The car came out mid 2019. Projected sales for 2020 are around 4,000+ US and EU combined accounting for decreased interest. 2021 car gets a power hike in US to 410hp when dynoed by indies. This particular Z will only be in Production for 4-5 Years. Its not a long term model. Its also not expected to do large volume sales. 3600 Supras not including Asia, Middle East etc is good for todays market. Considering expense and engine capacity. 3 liters compared to the successful mx5 2.0 and 1.5. Also Only £250 million has been invested according to insiders so its not a totally new car until Electrification. The money from sales of SUVS and Electric vehicles somewhere around 66,000 annually per SUV I guess thats where the money comes from to keep pumping out the goodies. Oh and EU is only buying a few 100 supras here and there. US market is the bulk of sales. A chance for Nissan to get in on that market. They want to attract younger buyers and improve their image. Thats why they are pushing ahead with this car. Price is expected to be lower than the Supra. Also its one guys project literally. Whos been advocating since 2016 several times rejected, several business cases. The compromise is a heavy facelift or nothing. Nissan need a halo car to generate renewed interest in the brand Critical reception should be good judging by US forums. They are eager. The A to Z teaser got over 1.4 million views with most comments mentioning the Z. Nissan are giving themselves maximum time on a tried and tested platform, but ill look into why they are revealing models 15 months from release.
  21. "they still sell these ancient items" 21 plate will most likely be the last 370s new in the uk we shall see
  22. 400Z Article from Interview with Ivan Espinosa No Electric Z yet Full reveal coming soon according to Ivan Espinosa. The new Z will be in production from September next year for a November 2021 release.
  23. https://insideevs.com/reviews/434648/nissan-ariya-specs-price-range/ more up to date info
  24. mannn, maybe things have changed with the civic and civic estate but i wouldn't recommend anything short of a soft Rover 75 or jaguar type suspension to anyone with back or hip problems. Depends what level of comfort is doable Its not just about motorways. Theres also town and city roads and the awful judder you feel within your bones when you smack a couple of craters mated together
