  1. I've also spent some time cutting excess from these with a dremel. Remember if you're cutting with fibreglass to always be in a well ventalated area and wear a mask.
  2. Okay, so I've finally been able to get back for some modding goodness. Car is currently away having the PU Nismo V2 bumer painted. Anyway, finally the louvers have arrived: I must admit, they're not up to the same standards as the other G.R.A.M.S Items I've recieved. and required a bit of sanding. The paintwork and cutting from the mould aren't amazing. Although from a distance, you wont notice. I'm a bit of a stickler for the details, so I've spent some time sanding bits down where the paint has been peeling, and where the molding was a bit @*!#. They're surprisingly thin for fibreglass parts, but do have some ribs built in, I assume as this part does have to bend, it supports the structure a bit more... The underside did need sanding ithout a doubt. the quality control at G.R.A.M.S this time hasn't been great. Unlke the skirts I got from them which were fantastic... Going to do some painting tomorrow, a few times with primer, then a clear coat. Will try to fit them in the evening if I feel they're okay. I'm more interested in the fitment of these parts than the finish, as all fibreglass parts are a bit naff IMHO. I did expect better quality however.
  3. I did R&D for Nissan Europe for a while in their aftersales and accessories department. Pretty much all of the exterior trim pieces is held on with tape. In all the tests I've never know one to fail during testing, and we've had vehicles up to 120mph+ without full adhesion. As long as you prep the area correctly, so their is no dirt, decent contact patch, it'll be fine. If you're mega worried, use 3M VHB tape, the stuff is genuinely more robust than most mechanical fixings.
  4. Hey all, So my front offside has been shown as "A Light misting of oil" - Which to me says, replace all of my shocks and springs, even if the missus disagrees. Also, car is on 93K now, so the factory shocks have done their job in my opinion. Looking at maybe a 30mm drop all around, the usual specs for a daily, don't mind the ride being harsh. Currently looking at either: HSD Monopros - Had them on my S14, I'll set that as the baseline, wasn't hugely impressed at "Normal" speeds, but they were very stable high speeds. MeisterR ZetaCRD - Heard good things, any members could recommend? Bilstein B12 Kit - Had them on my Astra, really impressed overall. BC Racing type RS Coilovers. Any recommendations/advice would be helpful. Cheers, Beefy.
  5. Went for the black, Will let you know how the finish is. If it's the same finish as the skirts, they'll be no need to repaint them.
  6. Hey all, I know a lot of people are interested in the Zakustech rear window louvers, Turns out, G.R.A.M.S styling has started manufacturing their own for £200 + (Depending on Carbon Fibre, spoiler, etc.) I bought them straight away as I have the G.R.A.M.S Skirts already and their quality is pretty good. http://www.gramsstyling.co.uk/shop-2/nissan-350z-rear-window-louvers-2/ Will report on fitting (Probably do a quick guide or something) and finish. They look like they're connected with tape. I would suggest 3M VHB tape for fixings personally. Looks like it will need a rear wiper delete as well. Will report as soon as they arrive. - Beefy
  7. I was interested in the V2, is the V2 not happening anymore or?
  8. Count me in 100%. Know anywhere to get it painted silver? Regards, Beefy
  9. UPDATE: Cheapest place on the web for Crown and Pinion - https://www.rhdjapan.com/central-20-z-sport-4-1-final-gear-set-z33-fairlady-z.html Currently working around getting a fitting quote from H-Dev, any other traders feel like dropping one, please PM me. Looking at straight swaps. Only bastion I've found looking into are 2010+ G37 'vert manuals that have a 3.9 as standard. Source: https://www.z1motorsports.com/upload/Z1350ZG35370ZG37GearRatios.pdf
  10. Precisely. I'm tempted to just check. I've asked around a few reliable personal sources and they said all R200 diffs will share same crown and pinion mounting. What diff were you thinking about? I might just get an R200V from a breakers and buy a standard R200 and see how similar they are internally.
  11. Hey Mark, I already have UPREV on my Z33 DE. As you've already mentioned that JDM ECU's are okay for this, how much will you quote for just getting pops + bangs mapped in? Regard, Beefy
  12. Hello all, Does anyone know the differences between the R200 and R200V differentials? Wondering if there are any major internal changes, I.E. Pumpkin. as if they're aren't any, this could mean that doing a 3.9 swap became a whole lot easier. As you could effectively straight swap an SR20 diff in. S15 Spec-R HLSD's go for around £250 (What I paid for one on my S14, Luckily had a kaaz 2-way in as well). Haven't found any info on this so far. Regards, Beefy
  13. it's not for the faint hearted just had to cough up for a new link g4+ ecu so my plan to do it on a budget just went out the windowbut will still come in well under £2000 I was trying to make my turboxs utec ecu work with it but that just wasn't happening. I have the new ecu now it arrived today courtesy of TarmacSportz ordered thursday afternoon arrived today can't complain thanks to Chris and George very helpful. I won't get it fitted until friday as I'm on standby again so I'll just have to stare at it all week and stroke it Gorgeous build. Can't wait to hear it. Surprised the stock servo will be able to move all of those ITBs. Waiting eagerly for the update!
  14. It it only TDI that can do this map or can Abbey/H-Dev also work this into the map?
  15. Coilpacks I imagine. I had the same issue, kept on running on 5 cylinders... Especially in the heat. Buy some splitfire coilpacks from Japan. Solved my issues.
  16. No!!! I ended up purchasing a second hand set from a member on here with one faulty one that I found the fault on with a multimeter, but i couldn't get the faulty one on my existing ones so switched them all out and purchased another used but tested one from eBay and did all 6. ended up costing me about £70 in total so double happy with that. Cheers, Didn't manage to find the specific coilpack that was playing up, I suspect Cylinder 5 though, as I found a smidgen of oil down the plug well. Not on the plug or internals of the coil pack though... How did you test them with the MM by the way? Would be interested to know. Yeah, haha, they can fetch a fair bit, all in £400 incl. delivery from JDMPlanet though. So not awful. Always stuck by "If it ain't broke, don't fix it. If it is broke, upgrade it" philosophy haha.
  17. Hello gents. So I managed to fix the problem. It's coil packs. I switched out for a set of split fires and now is running perfectly. Another quick fix I would recommend is if it happens during a long drive, heaters on max, footwell ideally as it's the least restrictive setting for heaters stopped the miss fire, I'm guessing an old coil pack (mine are on 92K now) getting too hot was the cause. Only done about 10 or so miles so far, but car feels a lot better and is pulling 20% more mpg... Kind regards, Beef Sent from my EVA-L09 using Tapatalk
  18. Evening gents, Just a quick update, after finally getting frustrated with the intermittent 5 Cylinders and TCS light coming on, I decided to check the resistance between plenum and neg of battery (As some posts have mentioned in other forums) anyway, read at about 1.5 Ohms, nothing out of normal range... So just purchased some Splitfire coilpacks from RHDJapan, to see if it makes any difference (Buying a set of used CP's would trigger my autism). Will report back to you gents as and when.
  19. The code readers struggle to spot the ropey coil. If it's running badly when hot you can spot the bad coil by cooling them down in turn - when you cool the right (wrong) coil your engine note should improve. Saves the expense of replacing all the coils (Disclaimer : I'm not a mechanic so don't know if it's the correct thing to do, just going on what worked for me). I changed all the coil packs in the end, it seems to have sorted it for now but that's only me testing it by letting it tick over on the driveway as the MOT has expired now. Thanks for the help and advice gents. So I went for a bit of an experimentation run with the Z over the last week. Various speeds, operating temps, etc. The only consistent way of causing the misfire and EM to throw a wobbly is excessive heat, nothing near dangerous levels, but I noticed that it tends to happen more when sat in traffic, low speeds, etc. Anyway, Friday evening, driving home from work, in traffic; Throws a wobbly, 5 Cylinders, etc... Turn heaters to max, after about 2 mins she's fine the entire way back... At a guess, insulators in the coil pack have had a harsh life and are giving up a little easier when the engine is hot. Although I can't locate the malfunctioning coilpack as of yet I'll report back to you gents as and when I manage to fix it. Thanks again for the advice gents. Beefy
  20. Subscribing, as I have the exact same problem at the moment. Always notice it happens when the car is hot. If I turn the engine off/on when warm it'll usually do it until I get to about 1.5K rpm, then just magically fire back up to 6... How did you get on bud?
  21. I'm going to chime in here, as a result from my experiences growing up in the UK, being an ethnic minority. Now, all of this is of my own opinion and life experiences, if some of you may choose to ignore me, it's your right to do so. Furthermore I completely agree with power to the people and the democratic process. That being said, a lot of the leave campaign has been focused on the economy, some freedom of movement, with odd detours of "350 million" and "Laws from Brussels" etc. However, lets not kid ourselves. Many people from both camps have voted without knowing or even caring about facts. The most unfortunate of those are the leave campaign voters that have based their decision on racism. And here's why: Institutionalised racism is alive and well in the UK, it always has been, and it always will be. Most of it is non-violent, and you adapt to it and (unfortunately) accept it as you grow up. When I was 16/17, and getting to that age where you're getting more "Street smart", you tend to notice peoples emotions and reactions towards you more. I started to notice more and more the funny looks you get when you walk into one of "Those pubs", I also started to hear the odd comment under peoples breaths, and generally got; "Don't see many of em round here" kind of vibe. Now, when I realised this was happening for the first time, being a young'un I got rather upset. After a while however, I started to get less and less bothered by it, it's one of those things. The one thing that I noticed growing up however, it that these comments, dodgy looks and general prejudice changes from location to location and from political climate. When I was 19, it was the worst, (in my mind) because at the time; UKIP and the EDL, etc. we're rising in the media and popularity. Around the same time, I was hospitalised by a group of people that thought I didn't belong in the UK. Believe it or not, (I've noticed) the more people think their views are shared, the less stigma they carry, the more open they are about them. Now, before people start thinking I'm going on a rant how "Leave campaign is all about xenophobia, racism etc". I'm not; because I know the majority aren't racists, and voted for what they believe are their best interests. However, you can't ignore the fact that some "Leave" votes were racially motivated, and are the product of growing nationalism. Going back to when I was 19, and the snide comments became more frequent, so did the way people reacted to me in public; Bars, pubs, Country fairs (Oddly the worst case I've ever had), etc. The genuine concern I have, is the rise of public racism and prejudice again. This happens because some leave voters are racists, and this victory for the leave campaign has without a doubt, reinforced their beliefs that racism is okay, especially in a public setting. Now, I'm not the thought police, people can think what they want in their own heads, and in their own homes, but I really don't want to be the subject of someones (or more often a group of peoples) mocking or prejudice. If you do some reading on twitter and facebook, and search for tweets resulting in racial abuse, you'll see the effects that the referendum has had towards racial discrimination already. (I keep tabs on EDL/NF/BNP etc. rallies on facebook and twitter, because I've been subject to verbal/physical abuse already by these groups). I'll repeat this again; I don't think or feel that most of the leave voters are racists or xenophobic, but the ones who are now feel that they've had their opinions validated by over half the country. Thats my main concern with brexit, and I'm genuinely anxious. - Beefy
