  2. Hehe yeah, I can imagine. I still remember when John took me for a spin in his Stillen S/C Z. It was so much quicker than mine. In hindsight, the S/C route would've been absolutely sufficient and much simpler/cheaper I'm waiting to be 'killed' by the installation bill from H-Dev I reckon £4k+.
  3. When Craig bolted on the downpipes, they touched the underfloor. They will have to be cut and re-welded to slightly correct their angle, not ideal being ceramic coated but the only way. AAM used a test rig to align exhaust parts, which may have introduced some variability. The fuel line routed past the turbo housing within a few cm, which H-Dev fortunately identified as a disaster waiting to happen, and thus, added a thermal barrier blanket, bolted to the chassis side wall. This photo shows the boost solenoid of my GReddy EBC kit. It is being mounted centrally behind the plenum such that the vacuum lines are of identical length and as short as possible. The downpipes adjustment is the last major mod and the remainder will be finishing work, electronics, CMC and such. EDIT: Craig managed to fix the exhaust misalignment without the need to cut and modify the downpipes. Instead, he customised the shape of the primaries, which have no ceramic coating. Therefore, a much better solution. I'm not entirely sure how the issue of the DP touching the car's underside has been resolved, but it has been.   5. Craig put back all bits onto the engine, looking nearly final now. Unfortunately, there's so little space now everywhere that he wasn't able to fit my expensive Radium Engineering dual OCCs The PCV upgrade has thus been fitted as supplied by the AAM kit (stock-like closed system but with brass check valves) The downpipes are now being heat-wrapped (in addition to their ceramic coatings) and go back on, too. Meanwhile, Phil is going to fabricate a nice little engine loom cover from aluminium with an H-Dev badge on it. Should look similar to the 350Z EVO-R titanium cover. I can tell, the H-Dev team is proud of their work, rightly so

H-Dev came up with a solution to the intakes, which meant to change and TIG weld the air con hard pipe, as well as, the power steering piping at the pump side to accomodate the modified intake setup for the turbos. The setup supplied just doesn't fit. The intakes will be sitting at new locations, as below picture shows. The intake charge will be warmer than at the original location. That'll be good for now to get the project going. A full CAI setup will require a lot of fabrication and could be an option for the future.
  8. Update on the TT install: My external oil cooler setup needed to be modified, the hoses caused interference, new fittings have now been made. The standard cooler lines for the OEM oil filter had to be rerouted and repalced. It's all very busy now down there. Real estate is very rare everywhere: Oil system setup for the TT is complete. Pictures of the turbos. The downpipes will be fitted at the very end; the engine was already out and in 3 times. Completed Fuel Return System with bigger pump and the necessary Venturi mod and all inside the tank. At the moment, H-Dev are having a problem getting the passenger Turbo intake pipe fitted. The A/C piping and compressor hard lines leave no physical way of routing the intake pipe to the Turbo. New A/C pipes may have to be fabricated but H-Dev is contacting AAM first. After that: - boost controller - new CSC + CMC and bleeding (the Clutch and flywheel have already been installed) - refitting all electrics (incl fitting bulkhead connector through firewall) - installing PCV system upgrades, incl. two OCCs and stealthy VTA setup

  11. Hi there, The engine setup needed some tweaking for it to seat nicely in engine bay without any chafing problems. It's fitted now, together with the FMIC and piping Oil cooler setup may need some fabrication due to access for the intercooler pipes and oil return pipes from turbo. After that, the fuel return system will be finalized and onto all vacuum plumbing and wiring. So there is still a bit to do but it is progressing nicely and Craig and Co are doing a terrific job

Being experienced and having a keep eye, H-Dev is going the extra mile and has now modified my crank sensor and added a heat shield as it was way too close to the turbo: They also recommended fabricating heat shields in two more areas around the exh manifolds, which are close to plastic parts: PS: the new pair of HFC downpipes is already on the way. AAM were very quick at making them
  13. 3 weeks into the install, there is still going to be at least another 2 weeks before completion, I reckon. Atm, H-Dev and I are waiting for AAM to fabricate me a new pair of cat'ed downpipes with better HCFs. The reason behind it is that my original pair of downpipes, purchased 2 yrs ago as part of the original AAM LHD kit, had 400cell ceramic cats in them. Later, as part of the RHD kit development, AAM replaced my right downpipe with a modified one but gave it a 200cell ceramic cat. Jez@H-Dev was quick to point out that they should be the same, really. I also checked on the HCF manufacturer webpage that the ceramic cat is not suitable for forced induction, even though AAM told me they've been using this cat w/o issues. Long story short, AAM now agreed to fabricate me 2 new dowpipes with upgraded turbo-approved metallic 200cell HFCs [Magnaflow #59959]. Once the downpipes have been shipped they'll need to go again to ZircoTec for ceramic coating. Unfortunately, it'll be my 2nd time to coat the left and 3rd time to coat the right downpipe. Sigh...

  16. With the charge pipes added, it looks a bit like a fierce cyborg kraken from Rise if the Machines Also now got parts of my PCV-to-VTA system. Ordered these OCCs from Radium Engineering [#20-0008] through Ardian@TORQEN. They are very expensive but after some research on oil catch cans I opted for these properly designed ones. FYI, good alternatives are Mishimoto, Saikou Michi and 42 Draft Designs. Don't do Ebay.

I know, about highest time The engine came out last Friday Recommended by the guys, they are also gonna install me a military spec bulkhead feed-through by Glenair to tidy up my currently 18 or so extra individual wires going into my engine bay (from added DRLs, AEM UEGO, Boost Controller, etc.). So far H-Dev impresses me with a professional approach.
  19. Yesterday marked an important stepping stone. See this unassuming farm lane down there? This path - somewhere in the nowhere - leads directly to the fabled halls of Horsham Developments! Yes, I've dropped off my Z at H-Dev for the AAM TT installation. At long last, it's coming together I handed my Z over to the able hands of Jez and Craig and trust that their magic will transform her into the nationwide first AAM 370Z TT within a projected 2-3 weeks. Craig will keep me up to date as he progressed along and I shall upload imaged as I receive them EDIT: As it turned out, more like 16 weeks with H-Dev.

  21. Always fancied a splash of colour to enhance contrast and looks. So I spray-painted my wing mirrors in Kustom Canz Candy Ruby Red. It comes with a coarse-silver metallic base coat and a transluscent dark red top coat. I also opted for their more sophisticated 2K clear coat. I've never used "two-component-paint-in-one-can" but it's not much different: once you break the internal seal with a grenade trigger-style mechanism you have 6 hrs before the can becomes useless. I think the job came out very well. The sparkle is quite amazing - more than standard metallic (hard to see on the photo). My plan is to also paint my aluminium skid pads on the front bumper lip.

  23. I remember such discussion over at the 370Z forum where they edit the throttle map to change aggressiveness. But Adrian said the responsiveness cannot be changed with UpRev. But I'm not sure.
  24. With drive-by-wire throttle control, the throttle valve opens gradually, no matter whether you stomp onto the gas pedal or not. It's actuated by e.g. a stepper motor instead of a direct link such as a Bowden cable. The gas pedal position and throttle valve position can have a non- linear relationship, too. These features are pre-programmed into the throttle map by the car manufacturer for various reasons. I always felt the 370Z's gas pedal has a bit of inherent lag and to access the power one needs too much pedal travel. I have now installed the Boulekos Dynamic Sprint Booster V3 [#RSBJ371]. Installation was a matter of 10 mins, very easy. Just unbolt the gas pedal from the floor to have access to the OEM cable and plug the Sprint Booster harness in between. Yesterday I had a test drive. The Sprint Booster does work. However, the effects are relatively small. If you wondered, HP does not change, the throttle map (pedal position versus throttle valve position) is modified. I went straight into "Race mode", which opens the throttle valve up to 60% faster (improves throttle response). There's also a "Street mode" that opens the throttle up to 30% faster. "Up to" because it depends on the car make i guess how responsive the map is to start with. I feel a little improvement in response in Race mode. Much more pronounced are the changes in aggressiveness, selectable in nine steps, "1" lowest, "9" most aggressive. the higher the step the steeper the translation of pedal position to throttle valve position. I settled for "Race 4" because it much improved the feel of how the power comes on with pedal travel. I quite love that! Any more aggressiveness and you would struggle with low dose gas control at stop and go It's a LIKE from me but the price tag is a lot for what it actually does
