  1. I can get the calcs done if you like but a 70mm open hole flows a lot more than a the throttle body will with the throttle plate and shaft through the middle Edit: also the adapter plate is tapered to ensure a smooth transition and thisbwill srrve to accelerate the air slightly increasing velocity and lwading to a better fill of the plenum in the same way tapered trumpets and throttle bodies do.
  2. The plenum opening being 70mm isnt a problem really as it doesnt have a butterfly in it acting as a restriction and turbulating the air. Tricky youre correct except at WOT where you dont want resteictions and as little vacuum as possible as youre not metering tje air to control rpm Should have a sample plate soon, assuming it fits then the kit will be ready but Ive been thinking that it might be better to also develop a larger diameter intake pipe and MAF housing as to see the best gains requires it all as a package. This unfortunately would have to have a remap when fitted to recalibrate the maf.
  3. Interested ro see how its mounted, frp will be very easily amashed though on track and its a lot of money to replace
  4. Ah cheers Jez, that would be really useful I was looking at the DJ wings but just dont have that kind of money atm I did read some comments from APR where someone had asked about raising thdir wing and apparently the higher you go from theyre default hwight the lwss downforce it produces and more drag. They said that because its a 3d wing it needs to be low and to go higher a 2d wing should be considered. Enjoying playing with all this as learnong a lot
  5. Unfortunately not this year, will try and remember about it and pop along though as I live fairly local Be up for it next year though
  6. Cheers dude Been reading your thread, I think we may have met at TOTB? I used to be a regular there with the SXOC boys and my grey S13 won the hadling class a few years ago
  7. I havent but being a 2d wing it will need to be high to get clean airflow. DJ engineering have theirs on z's at the same height as the roof so i was going to aim for that
  8. Just seen the ART 370z, not a fan of the way the wing is mounted tbh, I know its fashionable atm but its not for me
  9. 20160123_130109 by ben taylor, on Flickr 20160123_130150 by ben taylor, on Flickr not bolted up at the back yet as im still tweaking the mounts
  10. Ia he on the forum? Dont auppose you have a link? The splitter is just resting on the undertray tabs but mounted to the car either side of that its pretty solid tbh
  11. Ah cheers dude, thats a really good gesture APW who are building my headers are also building my exhaust and going to make sure its under 95db to keep it track legal. Planning a swappable rear section so can remove a silencer for louder tracks Hopefully once the house move etc is all done ill be getting the headers done amd some cams, tbough im now thinking of going itbs at the same time lol! Im just stuck sorting the suspension amd aero as cheaply as possible atm
  12. Few more updates Got some little tabs welded to the back of the z speed undertray to support the back and keep it all at the same level, this way the undertray actually serves as a functional part of the splitter 20160118_173250 by ben taylor, on Flickr Also work has started on my rear wing, I decided that most wing companies are charging a fortune for a relatively simple item, APR are £1400...... I selected the same aerofoil as used on the 997 GT Cup racers and rang a guy I know of who cuts wing cores for race teams. Told him my dimensions, paid a measly £40 and this appeared in the post. 20160119_150125 by ben taylor, on Flickr Its pretty big.... 20160119_150521 by ben taylor, on Flickr 20160119_150541 by ben taylor, on Flickr Just waiting on a quote to have it wrapped in carbon/kevlar, if thats too much I will get a local fibreglass guy to do it. Theres no 'need' for it to be carbon/kevlar but it looks cooler Working on a design for the feet/legs at the minute but found a company that sell the feet for $60...... You can see how, bearing in mind the costs so far, the APR wing is actual rape money. And the aerofoil is straight from the porsche racing teams so its not like it wont work Also Ive started work on some custom lower arms. The Z lower arm's a bit @*!# to be honest. Rubber bushes everywhere and an offset ARB mount means that when the arm tries to move against the ARB it will actually twist round it first, thus reducing the effectiveness of the ARB, this problem gets worse with uprated ARB's and causes the inner bush to fail quicker. Ive read of race teams that have had the ARB mount snap off as well!! So we are welding on an extra support for the ARB droplink, putting it in 'double shear' and also moving the droplink to a more central location on the arm, this will stop the twisting effect, to further help this we are changing the shock mount for a solid bush, not a spherical bearing as this still allows the twisting action of the arm in the same way as the rubber bush. All this will force the arm to move up and down a single plane and greatly improve the effectiveness of it all. As an add on to this we have also chopped off the rubber inner bush and are welding on a thread block to have a screw in rose joint. This removes another sloppy rubber bush and allows me to alter the camber from the bottom, saving the cost of upper camber arms. In the future we plan to re-drill the inner bush mount higher to correct some roll centre. 13. Jim Wolf C8's are a good cam, but minimum you want 270's, with their springs and retainers, can be done without pulling the engine, and cams on these arent that difficult a job...., jim wolf does a spring/retainer tool as well making that quite an easy job lol Also the vct on these engines lets pretty wild sounding cams stay perfectly streetable Compression at this point doesnt add anything, its just wasted money for no gain.so might as well not go for that really. And sbort tube headers are very differdnt to long tubes. We already know short tubes dont really do anything for the power. I get that you're against n/a tuning, im not sure why, but it can create a very lively motor in these cars, without all the weight and cost of going charged. Stateside many people have done it, and its getting more popular. Im just trying to drag the ideas and availability of some of the items over to this side of the pond and puch the development of these cars
  14. So you fitted short tube headers and mild cams and are using that as a basis that decent cams and long tube headers (which is what produce the gains) isnt worth it....... Thanks :/
  15. What Harry said, and a bigger tb on FI means the same airflow at less boost, since boost is only a measure of restriction If theres a vacuum in the plenum it is indeed the engine sucking in more air than can get into it. This is everything that lets the air into the engine including the tb. I know from my research that the tb yields gains, a bigger inlet pipe yields gains (but needs ecu tweakibg to correct the maf readings) and removing the airbox and putting the filter in front of the rad yields gains - its all restrictive. All of it together with a remap can produce a much more reaponsive engine that can breathe easier. This may not necessarily increase peak hp figures so no good for bragging rights but WILL create more room under the curve (though i know t will increase peak fivures also). If the inlet system isnt restrictive, and there are no improvements to be made then why do itbs yield good gains? As Harry said, im creating tje same kit as NWP, just UK based and cheaper, theyve done the research and the benefits are on their website and googling it will show how much its liked in the states. Sasha Anis also tested bigger tbs and found they really help
  16. 13mm foe the inner mount of the flca, for anyone that may search in the future
  17. Bump, someone muat have one laid about thwy could measure?
  18. In feb some friends friends from bristol afe up this way for my birthday so i could see about it being taken down with them? Or if yours up this way in feb im happy to wait till then if you are
  19. Ive got one im about to remove from the car Prefer collection for obvious reasons, located just out side Beverley
  20. Hi guys, Triwd searchibg but cant find the answer and dont really want to dismantle the front end either. Does anyone know ghe diameter of the shank on the bolt for the lower control arm and also the bottom shock mount. Thanks
  21. The stock inlet system as a whole is restrictive, plenum work and spacer helps as does a bigger tb and and enlarging the inlet pipework Marty pm me a mob number and ill whatsapp some images
  22. It will fit yeah, the nwp one yeah? I am mid way through sorting the design on a UK kit to try and make it available here cheaper
