No this won't change oil level. This only seems to affect the HR engine.

Haha thanks for comments everyone! Unfortunately the battery won't take a charge... So next week il get a new one ordered. Have the oil, new filters waiting to go on! It will be staying original

My father in law was given this mk1 from his auntie about 6 years ago. It has done 40,000 miles from new. Not a spot of rust on it. It's been sat in a dry but disused garage for the last 5-6 years. I have now been tasked with getting it road worthy again ready for some summer fun. Anyway here are a couple of photos I got of it tonight while I was removing the battery in hope I could revive it with a charge.

Oil gallery gaskets replacement with revised gaskets from Nisaan. Front timing chain cover has to come off and timing chain. Forgot to mention how clean the workshop is! Everything in its place! Il definitely be going back

Just a message to say thanks very much to Sly and the rest of the team at Kaizer motors. Recently had issues with my 2008 zed showing low oil pressure, after some research and a chat with Sly we decided it would be a good idea to look at the oil gallery gaskets on the rear timing chain cover. These are known to fail. Got the car back last night. Sly picked me up from the local train station as I'm about 80 miles away in bedford. Outstanding service at a great price! Thanks again! Ross

Car is now back on the road, complete fix. She now sits at 30 psi on warm idle and 60psi at 2000rpm. 😊

Yes nissan upgraded the gaskets and they now have a metal core. The part number has also changed.

Out of interest, what's it going to cost to put it right? As mentioned above its fairly labour intensive. I think the book time from nissan is about 10 hours. A specialist garage would obviously be cheaper than taking it to nissan and would certainly do a much better job.

Confirmed today the gaskets on my 08 HR had failed. This engine has full nissan service history and is on 70,000. If you are experiencing low oil pressure on idle (around 10-15 psi on in car gauge) this is most likely your problem. Oil pump failures on the HR's are very very rare I'm led to believe. Il try and upload some pictures of the failed gaskets.

What do you mean, it's strange? It's true! lol I've done a 30-130 in my HR Zed next to my brother's E46 M3 (SMG Coupe) - the M3 won by about 5 car lengths. Ha see that's a significant difference if you ask me! When we did this it was more like half a cars length.

Just reading this post, strange how the majority say the m3 is a quicker car in a straight line.. I recently had a go in a mates one (e46 smg) the cars where almost identical in straight line performance mine being a HR zed. I do agree with other points though the m3 is definitely a more comfortable car to drive and has superior build quality!

Also been found on a 370z in the states! Nissan obviously didn't upgrade the gaskets until late 2012/13 😒

This^^ It will most probably be those that are leaking. I found that they are actually a renault part number. I got new ones for £25.00 all in. I think nissan wanted about £49 each.

I am convinced now that it is the oil gallery gaskets that are allowing pressure drop! Seems to be happening on VQ35HR's from 70-120k. Let the strip down commence.

I had the leon fr 170. Good cars. Watch out for some high mileage ones that can suffer from dpf problems. Mine had the injecter recall just before I sold it.

I dont know what to do! I would like to have a look to see if it is the gaskets that are leaking but just don't have the garage space at the moment as I've just moved house!

I've had it in at Japex today, oil pressure was 14 on idle and 40 at 2000 rpm. It was on 60psi on the way home at about 4000rpm. They don't seem to think it's an engine problem and have never heard of these gaskets going. Especially on the HR!
