  1. They just didn't take it into consideration. I had a private car for 12 years, then had 3 years of company car, but although I had a letter from the company I was told it was because it wasn't a policy in my name they decided it wasn't applicable.
  2. I was with Chris Knott and because I had a company car I lost my 15 years of no claims which was a pain, so I was back at ground 0 when I got the Zed. CK were one of the few places that were able to offer a competitive quote. This year, my renewal came in and it was higher or as high as last year's which was disappointing. I started to hunt around, rang a few of the brokers listed here and found very little that was going to compete. Went to Admiral, and managed to get £480 fully comp, £0 voluntary excess and £100 compulsory excess with courtesy car etc... I found that adding my wife has helped too even though it is doubtful she'll ever drive - but her 6+ years of NCB and 15 years of driving experience undoubtedly helps. So are ADmiral any good?
  3. I'm SW55 - Azure - but I've not been anywhere near Banbury!
  4. I will always go to Sly - he's a great honest guy who really knows his stuff and his hugely passionate about Nissans! I even took my wife's old toyota corolla there to be serviced I trust him that much!
  5. That's still the best lip I've seen in my opinion
  6. Glad everyone is okay, but sorry to see a smashed up zed Makes me sad. However, glad you'll be staying in the family and were able to keep some of the nicer toys and bits and pieces!

    Bugger

People have no respect or sense of responsibility towards other people's property these days. It really ****s me off. I've got a few scratches and scuffs as a result of people not being careful - I want to get the car resprayed, but then how long will it be until someone scuffs it again? I don't want to live in paranoia every time someone walks near the car - it's only a 350z after all, but it's still my possession and something I saved up for to buy and I look after it. Wish people were more honest and made car ownership less stressful. I'm considering getting a wrap on the car, to at least minimise the scratch/scuff impact - but it won't look as a nice clean polished paintwork.
  8. Eggham sort of area, Silver 350 J1 *** parked up - with a lip painted silver too. Looked smart. Black 350, driving towards me around the Wandsworth area. Orange Zed, around Greenwich. None of them waved :'(
  9. Believe it or not I quite enjoy it in the winter too! However sometimes I over Cook the night before and then bring it in so I can reheat it. It is lunch. Dinner is always a cooked meal as is breakfast.
  10. I get a little paranoid about my car as I tend to only use it at weekends, so it gets a little neglected during the week as well as getting a bit mucky, but also the kids of the neighbourhood play around the grass near where the car is parked. It's received a few little scratches from the scrotes with their scooters/push bikes - I'm not hugely angry as they're kids and they don't know better, still annoying however. Still, I'd like to get a cover for it, to try and minimise the potential damage. I already park my wife's car next to it so no one can open their door onto it, but being next to the grassy area it is still exposed to the kids! Do you think it's worth getting a cover? Is it a pain in the arse to use and remove? Does it attract the wrong type of attention? IF any of you do use one, do you have a recommendation?
  11. My renewal is due towards the end of August, Milton has dealt with me in the past and managed to match and beat all the previous quotes and removed voluntary excess and kept the mandatory excess really low. So I hope he (you) are able to give me a good quote again this year, as I've clocked up another year of no claims and no points.
  12. Well the most expensive is the meat - so I bulk buy my meat from online butchers or if you have a friendly butcher who will give you a good price then even better. I normally get 10kg at a time and freeze it. Same with the bacon. Pine nuts are expensive, so I just bulk buy them - works out cheaper. Same with the bulgar wheat I buy that by the kilo load. Salad you can't really. However a bag of young mix leaf salad lasts 4 days or so and is around £1.50-£2. Avocados I just buy the basic ones and just use more than one as they can be pretty small. It all works out by day to being around £2 per day roughly - I can vary the meat, sometimes beef, turkey, pork, veal, etc.... So avocado, tomatoes, cucumber, salad = £5 or so. Over a week = £1 per day + the meat. Works out to being lots of good nutrients - lots of good fats (olive oil, avocado, pine nuts, mixed seeds), fibre (tomatoes, spinach, bulgar wheat), protein (pine nuts, meat), carbs (all of it though not so much the meat). You can vary the portion sizes and generally mine is around 800-1000cals, but you can easily half that if you want.
  13. One of my favourite salads is the following: Spinach/mixed leaf salad Avocado Bacon Chicken Cherry tomatoes Cucumber Mixed seeds Pine kernels Olive oil. Costs about £2 (I mass buy all the ingredients). It fills me up for ages. I occasionally add about 30-40g of bulgar wheat, quinoa or cous cocus to it to bulk it out a little too.
  14. If I couldn't buy a new car. Full respray. Alloy refurb Supercharge + decat exhaust. Speaker upgrade I think that would take me to 10k? If not then brake upgrade + suspension upgrade.
  15. Need to give this a go - will this work on small scuffs?
  16. Looks fantastic. Great pic of the whale too - I bet you were chuffed with that!
  17. Good post - agreed with all of that - it isn't easy, it is a challenge, but definitely worth doing, and we (I) am happy to help you as much as necessary if you're willing to do it Excellent post. Yes, small changes = big difference. It won't happen over night, you have to be in this for the long haul.
  18. It's not all about calories, it's about hormonal responses to what you eat that also affects how your body deals with what you're eating. Lots of refined sugars, saturated fats and high sugary foods are going to create havoc and will put your body in a more of a fat storage state than anything else. A bit of walking is not intense enough to utilise the calories you're eating. IF you're sedentary you'll need a lot more activity than that. Also, if you are a little larger than average, your hormonal state will be compromised and certainly testosterone levels will be affected and lower (resulting in poorer fat metabolism, as well as a numerous other physiological and biological effects) - also with lower test, means that oestrogen levels will be in a higher ratio, this also helps to store fat - which isn't idea if your insulin resistance is bad. It's really important to log everything you eat, but also start making better choices about what you eat - and start doing some more intense exercise, like walking but up steep hills, several times, or climbing steps hard, do something for at least 20-30 mins to really get the heart rate going. Good luck with your goals, I'm happy to help and give you a more 1-2-1 tips if you're serious about sorting out your lifestyle and so on. I won't even expect you to come to the gym with me Also remember dieting doesn't exist - it's about a lifestyle, you have to chose to change that, else your on a highway to nothing.
  19. Too many busy bodies getting angry on behalf of others or have indignation for absolutely no reason. It riles me rotten.
  20. I'd have knocked him out after about 2 minutes - can't stand aggressive skinny little yap dogs like that.
  21. This is definitely on the "to do" list. looks great.
  22. I love it because it stands out, it's a bit "different" and it's effectively a Jap muscle car which I love (wouldn't mind a US muscle car though!). Dream car? No not really, all cars and bikes I've owned have always been things I've enjoyed and loved - but I don't even know what my dream car would be were I to have one. I've owned faster cars, cars with more mod cons, and so on, but the 350 has been one which ticks more boxes than most for now. I mean a RWD, torquey, comfortable GT with decent road presence, good handling and reasonably luggage space is hard to beat now days!
  23. Did you send the parts off to them or drive to them and let them loose on your car?
