There is no way of finding out why a car was subjected to a total insurance loss. I went through this whilst i was looking, if i had been aware of what was damaged on any cat c or d car and could subsequently check out the work/repair i would have bought one, however, most people seem to be asking damn near what you can buy a hpi clear car for, so no point only to go through the same aggro when i came to sell.

I have done a search and doesnt seem this has come up. At idle my speedo will fluctuate, it is also indicated on the digital speedo too, it bounces from 0 up to 10, sometimes more. As soon as i drive it remains constant at the correct speed. Do i presume being an import its probably something to do with the kmh/mph conversion chip? Or has anyone had similar and found another cause?

As mentioned earlier, make sure Nissan knows you are serious about establishing why the failure happened, not just a strongly worded letter or phone calls. Personally i would have parts tested by a metalurgist and gain reports from an independent specialist and also see if you can find other people who have had similar problems, a voice in numbers will always help and seems a few other members have mentioned issues earlier in the thread. Also worth mentioning forums. On a minor level i had a few problems years ago with Yamaha, it wasnt until i threatened testing of the failing part did they actually play ball. Good luck and dont give up there imho.

Isnt the control tyre supposed to have made the racing closer, just like in MotoGp, where again it has not had the desired effect. And if you say you want to see them push the limits of performance, introducing a budget certainly isnt going to see that happen, as the performance will be budgeted. I think a few years ago they talked about budgets and most manufacturers threatened to walk!! I think the answer is just sort out these tyres, i want to see drivers at 100% all of them, not 80% to make tyres last! They also mentioned on commentary Force India probably employ half the people that Red Bull do and they were just a few points behind, hardly seems right does it?

It does seem somewhat "odd" that both Mercedes topped qualifying but were absolutely no where in the race, something has to be seriously wrong at that point, doesnt it??

Do you all think then they should have to use both compounds over a race, regardless of how many sets they are allowed?

Monaco will most likely be won during qualifying and whoever gets on pole as per the norm, there is no racing at Monaco, except perhaps in the pits, however it is a spectacle for sure. I thought it was funny on the team radio when Lewis exclaimed, "i have just been overtaken by a Williams" , he was not best pleased, lol. Maybe its a good thing, i certainly dont think you would get Force India at the sharp end, maybe even Lotus Renault and Maclaren near the back?? I certainly dont want to see a procession but think they are a long way of what they would actually want from Pirelli.

Lots of post race chats taking place with team managers and drivers surrounding the "tyre" issue. All managers saying they dont want to spend all weekend trying to work out strategies to give them the best chance of a decent finish and trying to set the cars up to use the tyres on that basis and all drivers saying they dont want to drive at "x" % to make the strategies work. Lets hope something changes and soon.

I thought that but the brackets between the two silencers look different to Invidia ones. Will get some better pics when i get it and see if i can pin it down then, it was cheap enough so not too worried, sure it will sound nice, certainly better than standard anyway

After some recent unexpected expenditures and the telephone being slow at work i couldnt justify the cost of a new exhaust just yet, but couldnt live with the muffled sound. So i snapped this up and been trying to identify what make it might be, if its not a replica, i have not received it yet but told it has no markings, but is stainless etc Looks like an HKS to me, or at least copy of.

I am endeavoring to try this as in the US they seem to think its very simple. I can't quite believe Nissan made sspecial controls just for the jdm market. You will also need the brake and clutch switch and a file flashed on the ecu. I shall put this one to bed for everyone soon.

An engine picture isnt going to sell it, it looks like any other Evo engine, but do have some!

Its a bit of a sleeper for sure, lol, would imagine its running about 260 - 270 bhp in current form, the guy on lancer forum got 300bhp with standard cams, 330 bhp with evo cams

My bike plate used to be on with velcro, if it looked like some unwanted attention was turning round or parked at the side of the road, reach round, pull off, stuff in leathers and pin it! You would likely get more grief for this than merely not displaying a plate at all, plenty of threads over on Pistonheads about plates, not displaying, wrongly spaced lettering, fonts etc It would seem its less of a fine for not displaying than all of the above

Make sure the components that failed are thoroughly checked by specialists, even by a metallurgist, preferably neutral, if they dont play ball, tell them this is what you will be doing, they will know you mean business then. Good luck and sorry to hear
