  1. Incredible to think there was ever a film centred around modified jap cars and believe part of its success was down to Paul Walker, a relative unknown at the time. RIP.
  2. Oh no, here we go again Imports do not cost more on insurance or should i say, not in a lot of cases, all depends which company you go to Pick the right JDM and there is no discernible difference apart from perhaps leather and cruise control, but even some jdm's have them. Imho as long as you get a jdm with Brembos that is all that would bother me. Plus you get some benefits the UK cars dont have as Billyzed mentions + i have heard the jdm's have firmer dampening on the suspension although i have not had this is not confirmed
  3. Thought there may be a little interest to the masses here http://www.pistonheads.com/news/default.asp?storyId=28949
  4. Couldnt be any easier, undo the bolts, remove centre, take barrels to a metal polishing firm, reassemble, so much easier than a one piece wheel
  5. I have read that (and although makes no sense to me) on some of the US sites that if you heat wrap tape them it will eliminate rasp, its no bad thing either, keeping the exhaust gases hotter means a quicker exit from the engine
  6. massively different insurance costs. The cars are 'worth less' only by virtue of the buying publics phobia of them It would seem with those two statements you are only perpetuating myths you read on the web. I bought a zed not 6 months ago, i viewed many, jdm and uk cars, from ebay, gumtree, autotrader, pistonheads etc and from very real first hand very recent experience i can tell you, hand on heart, there is not a lot of difference between price and quality of either cars and insurance is a few quid here or there either way. It would seem you are selectively quoting what I've said to reinforce your point and to patronise me. That will not end well. I haven't perpetuated anything. I clearly said 'the general publics misplaced fear...... ' - nothing to do with my own opinion. But if you want my opinion I'll give it - I would never pay the same for an import as I would UK car. You know why.......because when I sell it I'll have to deal with the very same problem. Nothing to do with the myths that are attached to them. I can tell you after 3 years of these endless pissing threads and watching literally 100's of cars change hands.......Imports enlarge sell for less. Period. The fact you paid full whack for one is the exception to the 'enlarge' that I've caveated that statement with. The fact is that MOST people who buy cars are ill informed about the so called foibles of an import and as such will not buy or will pay less for an import. It's no coincidence that 10 of the 15 lowest priced zed's in the country on autotrader are imports. Firstly i would hope the, it will not end well, is not some kind of threat? I have tried to keep opinion far from this and just tried to present the topic with facts, which just support my recent findings. I am not talking about 3, 2 or 1 years worth ago, i am talking about now, recent times from first hand experience of buying and looking at a fair few zeds. The insurance topic has been well discussed and most peoples findings are not as you say, massively different, as long as a decent insurer is contacted. I will not disagree, imports can and will be found cheaper than uk, but, spec on those is usually far lower than uk, no brembos, poor alloys. I would also suggest the public doesnt have a misplaced fear or there would simply be no import market, but that is personal opinion of course. I have no idea why you think i paid full whack for my jdm when you have no idea what i paid, personally i thought it was a positive bargain with mileage, spec, history and extras

Just did a quote £300 for my UK, £540 for Import. Not hating on JDM's as I said earlier on in this post its swings and round abouts as you buy cheap then sell cheap. What you mean comparison sites didnt like imports, shock & horror I am presuming you havent bought a Zed recently either, may have been the case a few years ago but it wasnt as of 6 months ago

  9. Couldnt be any further from the truth do an advanced search on ebay and see what has sold and for what, not just what people are advertising them for
  10. Personally i think dipping in general is pretty cool with some varied and quality designs and finishes, but carbon dipping (more so "carbon sort of look") is absolutely hideous and you can show me all the photos you like of it and i will still think its hideous, its just not for me I even think real carbon is a bit passe these days, its been done to death It would seem however others like it which is why you have a successful business
  11. I really like the way the gear stick surround is the opposite angle on the grain to the centre consul as well as the push button (unless intentional) and also the way the "farbon" curves to suit the shape of the contours, sorry, did i say really like........
  12. Already done Georgie is hot, but just kind of struck me as literally only there for eye candy at least Natalie seems to have a clue. Georgie always struck me like she would be a naughty girl, shall we ask ant or dec, whichever one it was she dated??
  13. Aint that the truth, she used to be a honey when she did the bikes a good few years back, but hasnt aged wel,l although i seem to remember she had some illness issues so maybe that explains it. Natalie gets my vote although think her husband would not to be trifled with, lol
  14. Not from what i saw from the market 6 months ago when i was buying
  15. I would say it was the exact opposite actually, whenever the uk vs jdm car question is asked most people are in a position to buy either and its usually the UK owners trying to justify they spent more, or should i say, try and maintain their cars are worth a premium
  16. I am not sure if anyone watched the post race build up on sky, guessing they did, but they showed a load of fun moments with the broadcast team and drivers, out takes that sort of thing. It was really good, actually made F1 seem good fun, certainly more entertaining than most of the races
  17. This is a new one to me! Could i ask firstly, why did people think they would "explode"? and why would a JDM be more likely to have had better fuel in both countries? Literally 100000, s of imports of all sorts in this country without issue, jap fuel is 100ron so just run in on optimax or equivalent, which most owners uk or jdm do anyway.
  18. Thanks Paddy, diagram 2 and 3 show what i mentioned above a 2 & 3 piece rim. I will give it a whirl just thought i would ask here first
  19. Not on the most part, some companies like SSR are known to weld together but not many. 2 piece compromise of 1 piece barrel/lip and detachable centre, like most Volks, 3 piece are detachable centre and a 2 piece barrel an inner and outer lip, the centre is then sandwiched between the inner and outer lip where as a 2 piece means the centre bolts to the face edge. They are advertised as two piece which is why i am stumped
  20. As mentioned in the first post, nothing visable from any rear photos I have seen. Really?! Wow puzzled. :-/. I couldn't find any rear photos to check, buy them and find out. . Make sure you let me know. Ha. I dont want them unless i can split them down for a refurb
  21. As mentioned in the first post, nothing visable from any rear photos I have seen.
  22. Could you explain that in a little more detail please?
  23. Been looking at a change of wheels and have a couple of options, the above being one of them. The wheels are 2 piece according to all info, but, no bolts/studs on the fronts or rears, does anyone know how these would split down please
  24. Each to there own and I would definitely not get my wheels done but for some interior & exterior parts it is fantastic. Tbh imo I doubt you'd be able to tell the difference when it's done properly by some of these companies nowadays. Oh and I think you mean "Barry boy cars" btw, not "barrow". Exactly why i put "imho of course", but that is the whole basis of the thread. Yes barry boys, your right
