this has been dicussed Its been skirted around as no one has an answer So where is the electric coming from and how much will it cost, less than a litre of fuel now to comparative mpg?
-
So gangzoom/stevo lets say you have persuaded me the tech will be there and ev's are the future and by "x" 80% of the vehicles on the road will be ev's, where will we get all the electricity to charge them and how much will electric cost by then, will the government then put duty on it to compensate for lack of revenue?
-
This is why buying cheap cars with big engines is fun: Fuel may cost you more, but you can get a hell of a lot of the stuff for the £££ you save! Also taking into account of the example given of a 30k depreciation on a Tesla, it would "cost" you less to run an old smoker But then all cars depreciate? and where did the 30K depreciation come from on Autotrader Do they? A mate of mine bought a GT3 a year and a half ago (above list), smoked round in it for that time and recently sold it for a profit, i know what i would prefer to own for a year and a half and so do you Same goes for another local fella, bought and Aventador, did the Gumball in it amongst other things, sold at a profit The example was given by the op If this "argument" as you put it, i prefer debate, there is not one reason to persuade me to get into one, they are not necessarily cheaper to run, their carbon footprint compared to ice is very very wishy washy, no more fun to drive etc Just its the future "allegedly" and unless your nostradamus, there isnt one person on here who can predict that

You can buy camber control arms for the rear, they are adjustable) The 350 has lack of adjustment when lowered to bring the camber back into square (even tyre wear). With the wheels you have or are buying though, you need quite the opposite, you will need to run loads of negative camber to tuck the top edge in under the arch, so your tyre wear will be horendous on the inside edge. Hope that makes sense.

What about a Spa trip?
-
No plans to apparently, but then he didnt have "any interest" in TG, so who knows

Compared to the revenue they drew in, it was probably a drop in the ocean.

yep, why wasn't clarkson there for the final bit ? Personally i think it was a little poor taste that he wasnt allowed to do the very final take in the studio, yes i know he punched a producer etc, but it would have been a fitting end for the bbc to allow him to thank everyone. Whilst i enjoyed the episode on the most part, it was just too odd he wasnt around in the studio but was in the footage, almost like he had died, i actually dont know why they aired it to be honest (let alone the lack of advertising it had), still pulled in 5.3 million viewers.

Well held sir! Had a little chuckle as it switched to the red civic in the clip, i thought, that sounds quick ......I was wrong
-
I noticed a shot showing an elephants arse
-
That made me chuckle, apprently he did the voiceover after all nonsense. I did wonder as it was an outside shot of the car when it was said. Haha, good luck to him, hope he comes back with something else, still enjoyed the footage but did seem odd because of the circumstance.

Well, thats the end of an era. Seems a shame, but hope the new rendition works. Any catch the line from JC in the 4x4 thing, "i hate working for topgear", haha

Tonight, sounds like the Castle Combe one

Obviously not, but makes zero difference, i thought we were talking about future technology and the replacement of the ice, seems little to no point if we are going to have planes (worst polluter) and everything else still using the ice. Tech is exactly the same, electric motor and batteries. I didnt say a diesel electric lorry wouldnt have range, we are talking ev's and if so, why dont we have diesel electric lorries? There was no personal attack, just an opinion contrary to his
-
Boats dont get sold on a regular basis, are you sure, it is one of the uk's biggest leisure industries, let alone commercial shipping and you say the technology isnt there? isnt that the whole discussion on this thread, i am constantly being told it is!! If it can work in a lorry, why isnt it, range, simple answer. Batteries is the topic, ev's, not diesel electric and there is huge environmental impact from batteries, not just the mining but disposal.
-
I have read it 3 times now please show me where i called you a name? Stop fuelling a fire which isnt there. You think "you talk rubbish" to a complete stranger is ok, lol, good communication skills

Just as race-horses are kept for well 'racing', no EV will produce the noise/drama of a V12, but does anyone actually want to be deafened by a V12 whilst sitting in traffic on your daily commute...Some might, but the vast majority wouldn't. Imagine is the government stopped taxing petrol instead focused on electricity...All of a sudden you can run a V12 for cheap, as a weekend toy, whilst going to work on a EV. But there in lies the discussion, you are discussing replacing your performance car with ev, so on that basis, why not have your leaf and a ice for weekend fun inc drama, noise, driving etc instead of a tesla? I would imagine 99% of people on any enthusiast performance car forum would rather xkr than tesla.
-
But that is the WHOLE reason for their existence!
-
Ironic that you like Ioneabee comment when its you who reduced it to name calling as ever. If you dont like my opinion, please feel free to discuss, rather than youre usual throw all your toys out the pram and be personal. Gangzoom, yes tech is changing, i am not a dinosaur, but its way way way off being what it needs to be and still you dont want to answer that its still rapping our planet for precious metals and still using fossil fuels to give you your electric. They might get cars to a reasonable level, but your still going to have planes, container ships not being able to operate without internal combustion!
-
Internal combustion and quit being offensive, its pissing me off !!!!!!
-
Did i say it wasnt the future first? Although Ev's will not be the future of performance cars in our lifetime P1, 918 are hybrids, perhaps your confused about the difference and cost way more than you or me will ever afford. Its not small minded, stuck in the sand, blah, blah, blah. I am looking for debate, not pictures of cars drifting, which probably didnt last long because the battery would run out, which is the problem AND the planet is still be rapped of precious metals and burning fossil fuels to give you the electric.
