  1. Perfectly normal - I do it every weekend. Just take off with no where in particular to go and just enjoy the car. I'm in IT too and am currently considering going back to contracting after working for the man for way too long.
  2. I like those wheels - any idea how much a refurb like that might cost? Ignore that - found loads of info
  3. The Zed Shed sounds awesome - where about is it on the South Coast?
  4. Thanks all! Took a look underneath today - there doesn't seem to be anything hanging down that shouldn't be. Had a feel of the undertray (that's the under-engine shielding immediately behind the front bumper, right?) and found it had some give when I pushed it up - is that right? Also, I recall that some other underside shielding (between to the front wheels) was re-affixed recently as I'd hit something in the road - perhaps that's it? Anyways, I'll get them all checked in the next service which is in a few months. Thanks for your thoughts, TT
  5. +1 Zed ownership is indeed both the agony and the ecstasy
  6. The other day in a private car park I hit one of those speed bumps made entirely of tarmac and shaped like a Cabury's Chocolate Finger - not a lot of travel-width compared to the height. I hit it quite hard with the front wheels and it gave the whole car quite a jolt. Since then my Zed has developed a new noise. When I first heard it I thought I was being followed by a motorbike - not a moped straining to keep up, but more like a big bike cruising at low revs. After playing around for a while I've found that the sound has the following characteristics: Its the same regardless of the quality of road surface Its not related to the engine revs (I dropped the clutch at 60 mph and its still there) - so its produced by the forward motion of the car. Its only noticeable over 40 mph and the frequency never changes I can't tell exactly where the sound is coming from - sounds like the whole car. Just wondering if anyone has experienced anything similar and should I be worried? Thanks for any thoughts. TT (Zed is 04 plate, 94K miles and mine from new)
  7. Holy Double-Take, Batman! Both look veeerry nice
  8. "Experience & knowledge speaks volumes 10 out of 10 Neil" +1
  9. Really pleased to see the pics - looks fantastic! Glad you've got your Zed back Its topics like this that make me want to take my Zed on a loooong drive....
  10. Pleased to see/hear this - glad its back
  11. I'd like to think that whoever did this would have something they cherish equally vandalised - but then I doubt these sort of people value anything. TT
  12. So sorry to read this - and so mad too! Glad to see there were a few witnesses to help you sort stuff out - hope it all resolves itself real soon. I wished you punched him too! TT
  13. I've used Harvey's Tyres in Northwich - £80 for a 4-wheel alignment.
  14. Mine has had only one owner in 90k....
  15. +1 And for a bit of comfort, SMD's DE is approaching 110k I believe and running 300hp via uprev etc and uses very little oil if any So they are out there but Dan's advice is soooo true Yep on 110k, no issues at 3 MOTs, or at any of the services, doesn't use more than a teaspoon of oil between services, running at 300bhp via upRev and gets me over 32mpg on a decent long run (100 mile+) Likewise. Bought new, now on 88K, no major issues at MOTs or at any of the services, doesn't use more than a teaspoon of oil between services. Always used a Nissan dealer for servicing/MOTs - but I've changed dealers when I've not been happy with them for one reason or another.
  16. I had a rattling sound from my drivers-side front wheel for months when ever I hit a pot hole or went over a speed bump. It sounded as if a plywood board had been loosely tied to the underside of the car and rattled when the wheel hit something. My previous Nissan dealer couldn't find the problem and suggested swapping out parts until the noise disappeared - I never went back My new Nissan dealer found the problem straight away - the front suspension arm. Apparently Nissan had a bad batch of 'em. This is on an 04 plate 350Z HTH
  17. My clutch is 88k miles old and still going strong
  18. Can I just ask - what are the symptoms that tell you that you need a new clutch? Thanks.
  19. I only found this out a few days ago - what is that vertical line on the driver's side mirror for? The mirror on the outer side of the line is shaped differently and should show you vehicles that are in your "blind spot". Can't say I've ever noticed this before.
  20. Its been encouraging to read this thread as I was wondering what to do with my Zed now its got to 87k (all by me from new). It's always been maintained by a Nissan dealership, only ever had Shell vPower fuel and the only major expense so far has been a new exhaust system. That said, my CD player hasn't worked for years and the passenger-side window motor is currently on the blink. Also had a front suspension arm replaced which caused an awful rattle for months before I found a dealer who could identify the problem (as opposed to sugessting they replace various parts until the rattle goes away ) Glad to hear that it could be good for 200k
  21. Thnaks all. Now that its above freezing again in the morning - it starts no problem. Does this still indicate the plugs? Thanks TT
