My Indian Landlord seems to be a local member campaigning for UKIP - She says as an immigrant she knows what's right and wrong, she worked hard to get where she is, and hates that there are immigrants leaching/using this country and not giving anything back.

Has anyone suggested you were just driving beyond your ability? - Not a dig, but just another reason. Different people can drive at different speeds and conditions to other people. Say for instance, maybe if Dan was driving your car at the same scenario and controlled it fine. Not that he would get in the car with those tyres But I'm a firm believer that a lot of incidents get blamed on the tyres, when in fact it was just the driver pushing it too hard for their ability.

Dude there isn't anything you can ask him to make your self happier. He's either going to rip you off or you'll have a sound engine. It's 50/50 - Doesn't matter how genuine he looks on FB etc. It's a gamble whether you buy it. It's down to you, not us.

Indeed my engine was different, But the issue I have with a rebuild is, yeah 'seals may have gone' but you're not going to be 100% until the block is apart.... It may be that, may be something else or it might even be seals + 'insert any other variable here' If it was me again (Might be in 2 weeks time) I'd wait and find another engine like I got, that came out of a running car - As you know it's running sweet.

It's going to be the same with ANY engine you buy....any seller you give your money to... Even traders on here, but at least with them, you pay the excess to have a fallback if they don't work.

Got my first quote today - Was a little more than expecting, the VAT pushes it a bit too far. They also couldn't guarantee it for Japfest, said more than likely but couldn't promise. Waiting on a friend to get back to me of another shop that he knows. Got a couple places lined up, but it's a process I don't want done shoddy.

Lol! Well from what I've seen, people have mocked up a MDF template to run around the sub to act as a strengthening mounting plate. You could I guess put the MDF mount behind the metal enclosure, but might be very tricky If it was me, I'd but the surround on the outside, spray it black, mount the sub on top, then cut around the plastic to allow the sub to poke out, but keeping the plastic to cover the surrounding metal area.

A quick sell would be to try and get drifters to buy them as spare sets - But they would have to be cheap

From what I've read in previous threads - OEM Sub position is @*!# for upgrading, better off putting it in the boot. If that's a no go, Most people seem to adapt the OEM location to fit a new sub - I.e. Drill new holes, create a new surround for the sub, soundproof the box etc. So be prepared to adapt the OEM location for new sub I'm pretty sure you will want shot of that amp and get a decent one. That's what I would do anyway. What's wrong with the current sub?
