5 post minimum for new threads?
Stutopia replied to brillomaster's topic in Site Suggestions & Feedback
I know this an old thread, but I'm a noob so I hope you don't mind me chucking in my two cents to give a slightly different spin on things. Although I'm a partial IT geek and work in IT, I never joined a web forum before. I used them to find IT fixes via google, got the fix I needed, left, never went back, never joined. I'd read so many comments and replies of "shut up noob you idiot", "why don't you know this already?", etc etc. So when I decided to join I expected the same here (I suspect IT geek forums are a little less tolerant of people asking daft/repeat questions than the Zed community here, IMHO). I couldn't have been more wrong in my preconceptions, the patience (as well as nudges toward the search) by members made me feel more confident about using the site, which is how I got familiar with the nuances of the Search and the Site Map. I've learnt so much because people were nice to me on Day 1 when I signed up and asked about buying a Zed. If I had been required to post 5 times to ask my first question I would have either posted 5 spams (no use to anyone) or simply gone elsewhere. I personally was a bit intimidated making my first posts particularly on threads which have been started by way more experienced and knowledgable people than me. I truly believe the great response I got on here directly impacted my decision to buy a Zed, I was so close to getting a RX-8 instead, and now so glad I didn't! I have learnt by reading this site, it's whetted my appetite for more and more info. I now have a shed full of detailing products I had never head of on New Year's Day. I found out a non-mechanic could go in and change a gear knob or gaiter and give my car a little bit of personal touch over the OEM stuff. I've learnt to tell my insurance company about non-standard add ons. That you can use something called plastidip to repair scratched trim. This weekend I am getting a dremel and attacking the front speaker grills to open up their sound. This place allowed me to ask questions I would have felt stupid doing in a car dealership or garage, and get responses from someone I know doesn't have an agenda and from people who might have posted 2000 times (so you know they have real experience). Anyway, banged on enough now, sorry to go on - just wanted to give the forum and members some love and show that giving a noob an easy(ish) ride to begin with is a bit special on the internet nowadays and makes all the difference. PS - the search is better than the one on my work intranet, and we have over 100,000 PCs and a mutlibillion budget. -
Great work, I know I'm a noob but so far there's loads of great effort on here from all quarters on a huge variety of deals and offers and trading. It's like my dream of a People's Socialist Repbulic is coming true, from now on I plan to run all my major life decisions past the community!

I don't know what it's called but I like this blue. I may even wrap her in this when the paint is fixed up.

WAP, that's so retro-chic! I remember my first WAP phone it was the one from the Matrix with a green screen, well cutting edge (in 2001). Took about 20 minutes to check one football score. You thinking about upgrading to 2G soon?

Pop a jacket potato in the foil before attaching to battery. That's your lunch sorted.

Check out Redline Styling in the traders section, Steve has got some in and he's sold me a few bits, good service and price.

Ohhhh, very nice car, great shots too. Mine's GM too and I picked up the full range of cleaning goodies last week, but not had a chance to use them yet with the weather and also it seemed pointless before getting some chips and dings sorted this week. Seeing what a good job you've done tells me I need to get out and make it happen! Nice job.

I love that colour.

Looking forward to it. Nothing like getting your fingers into a waxy box.

e-liquid is what Ebeneezer Goode had for blood. One for the oldies there.

Does this now give you carte blanche to start pedalling the hard stuff? They'll not be round again, probably. This time next year you could have a lambo as an everyday car!

Really? I was expecting about £20, what kind of gains does a Cosworth filter bring, 1-2 hp?
-
They're painting two panels on mine. Just gave them a bell, sorted the badge lacquer. They've also spotted a small scratch on another panel, which they will buff out, gratis. My kind of customer service.

£72 for the exhaust and air filter. They don't care that the exhaust brings no performance gains. It is simply "non standard", therefore extra risky. So I guess I'm now looking at buying a performance exhaust to get my monies worth. Cheers elephant.

Shoot, my zed is in the bodyshop today having the old badges off and these on. I went for the super black finish, is this one that starts to look old? Reckon they'll lacquer them for me first if I ring up and ask?

Another routine victory at WHL! Cracking atmosphere at the game I'd imagine. -
Pickup is a great shout, my step dad has one out in France cos they get tons of snow in winter and they live in a kinda out there place. Not managed to get it stuck yet, 4 adult size seats in the cab version, huge load area and proper 4x4 stuff like a locking differential. Mitsubishi L200, similar below http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201302255487983 Drinks a bit of juice and new tyres are a chunk, but I bet they are or most off readers.

From my youth in the countryside and my jollies in 3rd world countries, proper 4x4s include Toyota Landcruiser, Isuzu Trooper and best of all, the short wheeled based land rover defender, might be a smidgen over your budget though. http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201302235469700 http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201303025579544 For a bit extra, there's this beast http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201301315135552

When do I get the freshener for my aircraft? With this many engines the smell of fuel is quite strong.

I have this too. Is this the right stuff? http://www.maplin.co.uk/multi-purpose-siliconegrease-29006 or this lithium based stuff http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_221665_langId_-1_categoryId_165705

Nice one, it'd be good to see if you pick up any little tips alo ng the way, being that bit more used to working on her. -
Er, yeah, though if I remember Vegas correctly it was hot, fun and packed with trim. This is not my exact experience of life here.

I live in Blackpool, there's nothing I haven't seen every single weekend.
