  1. I don't understand the question? Do people normally smack SMD when he patronises them?
  2. ionabee, I'm afraid that I have failed hopelessly on my starter question. Not a hope of me pronouncing that one Some beautiful photos though. Maybe I should move to Wales and join a Welsh class? I can't think of any other way to learn unless there is someone here in East Yorks who gives lessons and I've not found anyone yet.
  3. Thanks jonny the mod I think I need you on permanent standby.
  4. Love it Hugh Graham, I will practise saying it but who knows if I am saying it right? Right, I'm off now. Nos da everyone. Did you see what I did there?!!!
  5. Ha ha, hopefully I will have no need to swear at anyone in Welsh and I haven't a clue what you have written (like I said, I only know 'slow down' and 'police') but you could teach me how to say "Hello" and "Thank you" instead if you like
  6. JetSet, Polish is the main language in my nearest town too but I hadn't realised that it was common in Flintshire. The part of Wales where I always stay seems to be entirely Welsh speaking and I feel quite ignorant sometimes because I daren't even try a "Good morning" in case my accent is so bad that everyone laughs at me If anyone has the patience to teach me how to pronounce a few words I would be very grateful
  7. I am childish too because I can still remember a conversation I overheard in Wales where, after a stream of words that were completely incomprensible to me, one of the women said 'swimming costume' and 'sandwiches' I thought I must suddenly have learnt how to understand Welsh. Bear in mind that I was only about 7 years old at the time
  8. Sorry mods if this is in the wrong place. I wasn't quite sure where I should post it. Please will you move it if I have got it wrong Thanks. I just wondered if there would be any Welsh speaking Zed drivers (or partners) coming along as I would love to learn a few useful Welsh words or simply learn how to pronounce the road signs properly I find it really frustrating that I can understand the meaning of the road signs (because I have seen the bilingual ones so often) but have absolutely no idea of the correct pronunciation. I bought myself a "Teach Yourself Welsh" book but it was impossible to follow without hearing the words spoken and I had to give up
  9. My husband also ordered his on Kickstarter when they first appeared and I think the waiting time has killed off his enthusiasm too. I know he thinks it is really ugly now he's seen it. I am sure that if one of his work colleagues offers to buy it today he will get rid of it.
  10. I agree with you M13KYF. I can't see the point either
  11. Not sure if I trust you to park my Zed now you've issued a fatwa
  12. Mrs Buster, I love the idea of collecting reading glasses to go with every outfit I have seen a travel pair in the colour you want but they are only tiny glasses that you carry in a little case. I thought they looked pretty!
  13. I prefer small, discreet watches. I have a French designer watch that has to be serviced in France which is a pain but it is a lovely watch. I have very small wrists (although I do have massive hands ) and big watches look horrible on me. The Pebble watch is extremely ugly in my opinion and I couldn't wear it even if I really liked it for some other reason, which I don't My brother always wears cheap Casio watches and he loves them although, again, I think they are very oversized and, sorry Sipar, terribly ugly
  14. What do you do Chris'l? I am guessing you might be Robert Downey Jr's stunt double? Or maybe you are a spy and all round international man of mystery ? Or could you possibly, the most exciting option of them all, wait for it ... work in IT? Please don't disillusion me if it is not option one or two. Thanks
  15. BBK, I know where there's a Jet Black one for sale
  16. That's weird, I bought an audio book today and it is narrated by the actress who played Bob
  17. Thanks Mr Biscuit I will message your friend tomorrow.
  18. Hm, it's not been put in the 'dead watch drawer' yet but I give it about a week! I think it is difficult to read the time on it which is surely the main purpose of any watch?
  19. Dyslexics of the world untie
  20. Has anyone got one? Mr TwoBears collected his today (after paying an exorbitant customs fee ). He's never actually worn a watch in all the years I've known him but, oddly, he has bought dozens of the things, each one stranger than the last ... They are all in a drawer somewhere and I am sure that this one will end up in the same drawer once the novelty has worn off. If I am right I am going to get them all out and convert them into something useful via the medium of eBay I think they will be surpassed by the next offering from Apple anyway, if the rumours are true.
  21. Thanks Sarah, good advice I was hoping for a more mature lady who had machinist experience but was now looking to work part time. I already have one teenager (my own) to control so don't think I could cope with another
