  1. Women aye - and the things we do to keep em happy tell me about it when we were looking at equipment for our gym she decided she had to have the same cross trainer as she was used to at david lloyd £7 F*****G grand
  2. if it's any consolation I've fitted 3 kitchens in 7 yrs had to do it again 2 yrs ago after we replaced the front door with an oak one she liked it so much i had to replace all of the downstairs internal doors with oak to match then replace the kitchen all in oak because the door leading into it was oak, had to make one unit from scratch because no one sold exactly what she wanted
  3. tried putting my wideband o2 sensor in place of one of the rear sensors as it has an narrowband output for the ecu so it thinks the sensor is still there only trouble is the ecu also realises the sensor heaters aren't connected so still brings up a fault so i welded another bung into the cat as i had to get the car up on ramps anyway i also ran the pipe back to the intake to complete the PCV system another job i can cross off the list also sorted out the rattles from the charge pipework this is the pipe between the turbo and airfilter where the PCV system vents back to and here it is fitted to the airfilter so no more smell of oil for me
  4. http://www.ebay.co.u...=STRK:MEBIDX:IT saw this on ebay this morning
  5. i started this thread after an interesting conversation with a guy at work didn't expect that big a response, seeing as there's so many gym goers and fitness orientated people here has any one done the HOUR OF POWER my missus bought the DVD i thought i'd try it to get my fitness level back up after being ill i think it's going to kill me i can't complete it even using my missus girlie weights.
  6. fitted the oil cooler though i will have to rethink the pipework to it as the bends are either a little tight or long swept bends with no support due to where i had to fit the cooler there's nowhere else to put it other than right up against the silencer and that somewhat defeats the object so it is where it is but on the plus side the oil pumps are running 20%+ slower now due to the reduced oil temp still got lots to do but getting there slowly.
  7. i like this thread but it does make me very jealous
  8. if you think of any advantages let me know having to go to the loo 3 or 4 times a night certainly isn't one
  9. personally i do it because i enjoy it and i haven't been ripped in 10+ yrs now it's about fighting the ageing process the fitter i stay the longer i will be able to do the things i want
  10. We're off topic but still wanted to reply, ....I'm doing 4 sets of 8-10 on everything currently. 10 Reps is the goal but if I only make it to 8 on each set then I'm happy. I'm not lifting anywhere near what you're capable of but I have a different physique & I'm now lifting a lot more weight than what I could 6 months ago. I've put on a lot of muscle mass since I started my training so am pleased with the way it's going. I do find it difficult though as I don't really get a buzz from it like some people seem to when doing the actual exercising bit although I do get a buzz from seeing an improvement in my weight & muscle. it is a lot easier if you enjoy it and don't see it as a chore . I'm still stuck doing Cardio only as since being ill before Christmas i still cant lift weights safely maybe soon
  11. will have to add mine to this list at some point i think i'll wait till i hit the dyno later this month also just realised it'll be the only rear mount
  12. yea i noticed that i'm really surprised how many they keep calling me gay at work because i use the gym ? ,well that and the Lycra wearing
  13. Chatting with another petrol head at work the other day and he asked me this question turns out he goes paragliding any one else do anything interesting ? other than my generally nerdy type hobbies i play in here. yes i know it's not exciting but it's what i like to do. And just for the record the girly pink weights are the missus honest
  14. so I've managed to get some time with the Z this weekend the PCV pipework under the bonnet is all sorted where the small filter is on the catch can will be replaced with a pipe going back to the pipe between the air filter and the turbo. had some more problems with the oil system, no surprise there the car was smoking like a pig when it got hot it seems that the 10% faster speed of the scavenge pump compared to the feed pump wasn't allowing for the expansion of the oil when it got hot creating a restriction at the outlet forcing oil past the turbo seals it now runs 30% faster this has solved this problem also i have modified the oil drain pipework venting the 90 deg bend shown in the picture below back to the oil tank you can't see it in this photo but i wasn't laying on the wet floor to get a proper picture this is so that during the scavenge cycle when the engine is turned off no vacuum is created in the oil system as this kept messing up the pressure senders controlling the oil pressure even without an oil cooler the oil temp has been really good but i'm going to fit this cooler as on a run i think it will be fine but sat in traffic too long with no airflow past the ally tank i'm not so sure so better safe than sorry also since i'm going to put it where the oil's hottest between the turbo and the scavenge pump it should protect the pump I'm off Wednesday so will try to get it fitted then also hoping to hit the Dyno within the next month should be interesting
  15. retro fitting a manual mill would have been my preference but don't have the space
  16. some came from these people http://www.worldofcnc.com/ some from ebay it does pay to shop around as some of the prices vary wildly if you're going to be machining harder materials fully supported rails will be better than rails like mine just supported at the ends also what software/hardware are you going to use ? i've had lots of trouble with intel based systems but none with amd
  17. thats the way i did it my first 2 were actually made from mdf mines 60mm extruded aluminium with solid 10mm end plates and 20mm rails and linear bearings which would be fine for aluminium if it didn;t have a 600 x450 work area
  18. i do mill aluminium on mine but i have to make lots of passes removing a small amount of material what sort of design of machine are you looking at ?
  19. you can see it on page 15 of my build thread
  20. yea I've built several and a cnc lathe
  21. Had exactly the same problem myself 2 weeks ago with them maybe i'll look elsewhere next year
  22. o2 sensors can be a pain to get out
  23. hate to say it fella but if you're letting a little problem like this get to you then you should probably be paying someone else to work on your car for you.
  24. So the z is on the road now which makes things a little easier still have a rattle to sort out from the charge pipework, the hose still needs to be run back to the turbo inlet for the pcv system, and the controller still needs fitting properly as it's jammed in the hole with a bit of cardboard. as predicted by many people on this site the dedicated oil system has caused me no end of problems the pumps will now be controlled by a pressure switch as opposed to a sensor since I've got through two so far i think it's the vacuum created during the shut down scavenge cycle that's killing them, for now the pumps are running at a fixed speed I will try to fit the switch tomorrow after work as much as i wouldn't recommend a dedicated oil system to anyone due to the added complication i am happy with the set up and it does have several advantages lower oil feed temp, stable oil pressure no additional heat added directly to the engine oil system. Having driven the car for a few day's now i have to say I'm very very happy with the results only running 5 Psi but it feels like more, boost is really progressive and just keeps coming also comes in really low revs overall for all of the enjoyment I've had with this project and all the fun i will have driving it for under £2k i'm more than happy I will try to get a proper video posted and some finished pics when i have the car sorted a bit better.
