  1. Ok, so I haven't read this thread for a while now but seem to remember somebody saying that it's the chemicals that the supermarkets add to the fuel that makes them less quality to the premium brands... After speaking to a good friend of mine who has bee working at Exxon Mobil for over 20 years, he told me it was the opposite. It's chemicals such as injector cleaner that the premium brands add which increases the quality of the fuel and keeps your engine kicking! To conclude, my opinion is that (providing it is super unleaded) the supermarket fuels are fine, but it is definitely worth filling up now and again with the likes of bp/shell/esso
  2. haha, I cruised once behind a lorry for a while and averaged about the same, magic 56mph! Probably cost more in stone chips though... Doh!

    Wanted - My 1st Z.

welcome! This thread might be of interest if you are going to see 'trade-link'... http://www.350z-uk.com/topic/68185-buying-a-350z-from-trade-link/#entry1016178 Must add I've never heard of the guys, and have no opinion on them.
  4. can you pm me the reg.... My mate used to have one suspiciously similar to this. Had been repaired but not marked as cat c/d. Lots of orange peel, panels didn't line up etc. He was very quick to part ex it. Even if it's not the same car, if it doesn't feel right, walk away. There are plenty of nice examples out there. With your budget it will probably be worth looking at jdm imports
  5. Good job! You could always do a build thread when you fit the coilovers
  6. Best advice I can give is take your time, have a look at many examples out there. It's a buyer's market at the moment!
  7. did you drop it or is that just the effect of the spacers? Loving the oem feel to it edit: That was referring to a previous picture obviously
  8. Thanks alex, could I have individual link/prices for exedy standard clutch, standard dmf and also shipping
  9. perfect, thanks for the replies Is it advisable to replace the slave cylinder as well as the release bearing?
  10. Top job
  11. Evening people, Soon I will be getting a garage to replace my flywheel and clutch. I am not sure, but is the clutch slave cylinder the same part as the release bearing. Just trying to get my head around it!? It is a uk 2004 model.
  12. Also was it an auto you wanted?
  13. Welcome! First of all if buying from dealer you should get some sort of warranty. Look for the obvious, don't take anything less than a full service history. Common faults: 1) whining diff 2) synchro mesh on gear box (gear box is naturally quite clunky though) 3) clutches last about 40k (I think) 4) boot rear struts don't hold boot up I am sure there are more but overall if its been looked after well, it is a very solid car. In my opinion go for a uk spec with gt pack. Mostly though, take your time and wait for that peach :-)
  14. Ok job done and great result! Key cut well first time (pm me if you're in Bournemouth/Christchurch area if you want details), so no issues there and guy was really friendly and wasn't reluctant to cut it. Obviously he said he can't guarantee it given an ebay item. As for weight, I found that it was ok as was plus I have a gorgeous key ring for it which adds a little weight! Ok, so all in all it took about 45 minutes of fiddling about (with the key that is) but did have a problem with the unlock button sticking. You will see in the photos that I had to use super glue to kind of add to the platform for the circuit board. I just cut a couple off bits off the button surround (as this doesn't fit properly, and thought originally that this could be the problem) and stuck this the the platform that is already there. Note the circuit board needs to rest on top of this. Transponder is easily glued in to place (similar location to the oem key). You don't need to use much here as it wedges quite nicely itself. Major fiddly bit is the spring. Simply ensure it is located correctly in the button, fit the back side on and rotate the back side in the direction that the key needs to go (anti-clockwise) as you look from the back of the key. I used the oem buttons as the new ones look like the decals will wear off pretty quickly. Burger stuck on and it's a massive improvement to the oem key, finally a half descent looking flip key for the zed Noob question but how do you add pics to a post? I tried copy/paste but it "doesn't allow that extension in this community"
  15. what makes you say this? Yes please elaborate on your already informative comments I heard off my mates brothers wifes gardner that Sainsburys super unleaded contains up to 75% horse pi55 Dave... meat or s***?
  16. Downside being when showing off to the hotties, you smell like a chip shop
  17. what makes you say this?
  18. I have been using sainsbury's since I've had the car (just over a year now). No complaints but I was wondering if tesco 99 ron would be better given it is the same price? What does everyone else use?
  19. Bertha... Just seemed appropriate!
  20. So summer (if us in the uk can call it that) is around the corner and a few things on the list to do to big bertha (the zed, not the missus' name). 1) New clutch and flywheel. No slipping but a bit of shudder when pulling away (not gunning it) in 1st. Just have a gut feeling about that. I am thinking exedy clutch (standard) with a standard DM Fly. Only performance bits on car are plenum spacer, cone filter and exhaust (cat back). I don't drive it much but still want it to remain civilised on the road. 2) zedspeed undertray as the plastic one is getting a little hagged. 3) 25mm wheel spacers all round (standard rays). Is it best to go for eibach here? 4) led lighting kit and gauge face. I will probably go for white, new style. (thanks to @husky for the inspiration) http://www.blackcatcustom.ca/Nissan%20350Z.htm (really looking forward to doing this) any advice welcomed, especially with regards to clutch and fly. Other than this, I plan to just enjoy the car a little
  21. exactly the same thing as happened to me... Brand new re50's on rear at £225 a pop, 100 miles later a nail appeared close to side wall so had to fork out for a new one! Quite good that they were new as got away with only replacing one (if I wasn't thinking optimistically, I think I would cry!). I would have got it repaired if it was safe to do so though
  22. Thanks Alex, I will contact you nearer time of oil change, still deciding whether to go for one of these zedspeed jobbies or not
  23. Keyser, I've just ordered one of these. Should be with me soon, could you let me know how your laser cut goes and where to take the blade please?
  24. Where thor art thou Ricey Unfortunately can't stretch to an M, but I'm open to donations. Only looking to spend circa 7.5k with around 2k additional from the sale of my car. Different beast but hardtop s2000 or mx-5? Honestly mate, you ask on here people will say a z is better. On a z4 people will say a z4 is better. We are all biased. You can only really find out if you like them but going for a test drive tbh. You might hate the z4 you might love it. You might hate the vtec but you might love it. You need to buy the best car for you and what will suit you. No one should be making that decision for you. Z all the way
