Ok I must have done the last 40k in another car then 30 in 6th gear would almost stall the engine so if that isn't struggling then I don't know what is, this thread is getting bizarre If you guys want to drive at 30mph in top gear I suggest you get a nissan micra at least then there will be a small amount of pleasure gained from the experience Thats 'cause yours is broke! Seriously when there is a stream of cars in front 1100-1200 rpm plus is all you need. The zed is making nearly as much torque at that speed as some golf sized hatchback ever manage. When the road is clear then sure, open it up but when you can not use the power why have it on tap and ready to go?

Personally I noticed little difference. Certainly not on the road. My track time with the two was too far apart to say really but I dont think its the difference between a full tank of fuel and half a tank. Maybe ive just got limited feel of the car through the wheel, but I would not change just for the weight saving

Its a question thats down to personal taste I guess. The paper specs suggest the 370 is not far off a z4m in performance terms and if thats so it must be quite a bit faster than a 350 judging from my track performance against one. There is more to the driving experience than speed though and I would have to drive one to know what I think. Im not going to do that until im ready to change as I might not like the answer! However thats exactly what the op should do as its probably a personal judgement. I suspect that for users with a 313 model it will not be worth it but people with a 274 which might also be down on power then the 330 brake of the 370 will satisfy the butt dyno

What really impressed me was how frugal the Zed was with the oil. I checked the stick before and after the ring and most of the 100 ml was consumed during that time. So, pretty much none was consumed during the other 2400 miles. Coming from a turbo car that slurped 1000 ml every 600 - 700 miles of normal road driving I find that amazing. Japanese quality for you though I suppose....

Thanks to all who liked the pic. I was pretty chuffed when I found it online as the placement of the car behind is perfect. Shame I can't claim to have anything to do with taking it.

Dark red colour. Don't specifically remember a roll cage, but looked like it had been prepared for track - I would certainly have wanted one in that thing anyway. To be fair its a massive course and it would take a long time to learn it (but the process of doing so would be amazingly satisfying). As most of the bends are blind you really need to know what is on the other side of them - even when you get someone in front of you it takes a certain level of faith/stones to plough over the crest at 80mph + when you don't know where its going. The speed gap between the Grockles and the Locals is significant, but its all about knowing the course - and as you say being willing to stack your car - its not a forgiving track...

Yep, I was pretty pleased. It still felt like I needed my own refinery though - I seemed to be dropping €90 in there pretty frequently...

Just back from a holiday with the Zed, so thought I'd share some details. Zed Miles - 2436 Laps of Nurburgring Nordschleife Zedded - 4 (One with the roof down ) Milliliters of Oil Eaten by Zed - c.100 Countries Which Experienced the Power of the Zed - 5 Maximum Zed Speed - 148mph (Autobahn Dry) 130 mph (Autobahn Wet - Too much wiper-lift to go faster) Number of other Zed's Spotted - 1 (An "instruction car" at The Ring, other than that not a single one.) Zed Faults - 1 (Started car as I came off Ferry on the way home and the airbag light came on. 3G connection to forum revealed the "4-turn reset" trick and resolved it at the roadside. ) MPG - 28.1 (Trip Computer) Average Speed - 47 MPH (Trip Computer) Roof Down - Oh Yes, but it did rain quite a bit too... Gratuitous Zed Pic of Me Lapping At the Nurburgring Below I got devastated by most of the locals including one dude in a knackered looking E30 318i. However, I managed to catch a Swiss guy driving a 911 GT[something] and had just doled out a proper spanking to the chap in the RentForRing Mini in the pic I know I could not have got the car mechanically up to scratch without the knowledge I've gained from this forum and the help I've been given from those on it, so thanks guys. Zugara, Alex, I took the car to my regular garage and he said that the rear drop links and brake pads were fine so we turned to Alex's next steps. I'd mentioned this thread http://www.350z-uk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=60165 to him so he slapped some grease around for me! At the moment it drives without a single noise of any sort. Beautiful! I'm about to go on a 2000 mile road trip spanning two weeks and incorporating some track action, so I'll let you know what the situation is when I get back. I've sprayed a bit of silicone on the door stop Zugara, just in case! Cheers

My car has been clicking away like a trooper. Even though I replaced one of the CV joints that side had started making noises again (both sides were making a racket). My garage checked the droplinks and found they were fine and therefore got to work doing some greasing yesterday. There is now no clicking - not a single noise at all - Im about to go on a two week 2000 mile road trip which will include a few laps of the Nurburgring and the Hockeheimring. I'll update on progress when I get back. Shinjuku

As above, lack of ad detail does not inspire confidence. If you can not be bothered to write a decent advert for a £10k car you are either superloaded, a munchkin or you don't want to be held to your statements. I quite like the temper orange, but teaming it up with the Alezan seats I'm less sure about...

He's got to be dreaming. That type of plate is c£400 on DVLA, although admittedly there probably aren't a lot of A's left. As mentioned above it only makes any sense if you illegally space it. £1,650

That looks utterly sheiiit. The stuff some people do to jap cars really does put me off owning them. They seem to fall prey to this sort of thing a lot. I'd rinse those two chickas though...

Hi. Dont want to be a pedant but I did not say I was only interested in the headlight issue. Rather that I did not need info on the other obligations. The aa website has it all. Bought the breath testers a few weeks back. Four quid for two delivered on ebay. Although its a legal requirement from june or july its not going to be enforced until autumn. Thought I would get some anyway and then use them when Im in the uk.
-
Just ordered on ebay for four quid with a free gb sticker - I dont have euro plates. Not too bad a price.
-
I should have been more clear I want to know if the headlight stickers are the best option for the zed or if something else is better. I am fine for what the countries require from tourist drivers. Its implementing the headlight beam modification that I am asking about. Thanks
-
Is it just a case of getting some of those headlamp stickers or is there a better alternative? Cheers

I'd have thought that if they can be imported for less than the equivalent UK car people will do it. That's economics right? When will they hit the "three years old" point in Japan? I agree the strong Yen is an important factor though.

Thanks mate.

Where are these bungs Zugara? Thanks Alex. I will have a look.

I have what might be either the clicky axle or the creaking suspension (or both). Anyway, by using the "alternate window down" method and standing next to the car I decided that the more common driver's side CV joint had failed so I got a new one fitted a while back. Unfortunately the noises are still there. They are multiple "clicky" "stone in tyre" type noises when either: - moving off - starting to reverse - driving along and applying mild throttle - driving along and releasing mild throttle. It happens all the time and with the good weather I've had the roof down a lot so have been able to hear it (it also seems worse in the heat, but that might be me imagining it). So, is it likely to be the near side CV joint, or whatever causes the creaking suspension, or something else. As I say, its not limited to a single click - often there are two, three or four distinct noises not just a single one. Does that rule anything out? Thanks for any advice. Shinkjuku

I heard you got through quite a bit of it at the last big meet too...

Hope the wife does not see this thread - she may expect me to do some cleaning around the house!
