  2. I knew id read something before I purchased mine that you should take a look at - the evo long term test is below. http://www.evo.co.uk/carreviews/evolongtermtests/209490/nissan_350z_roadster.html Its a rev up car (296) They say rough tarmac is not your friend. I have to agree. Handling wise it understeers a bit more and does not change direction quite as well as the coupe apparently. As ekona says if you want the best drive from a car that was originally a coupe you have to go for the hard top every time. If you want to get the roof down the zed is as good a conversion as you are going to buy for the money. Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2
  3. As was said above the later engine 313 is made of substantially different parts. The 276 and 296 engines are substantially the same, but with different maps. Earlier engines have more torque and less power, later engines more power and less torque. The later engines also rev higher and apparently more freely. On a track you would probably find minimal difference in lap times - especially as unless you really rag the car chances are you will be in third for most corners meaning that the pull of torque is important. However, for a "one lap blast" or a countryroad thriller, you might feel you are having more fun with the 313 engine. The roadster is known as having retained most of the handling of the coupe. Relative to conversions of other coupes it is considered a very good drive. As also mentioned above it is slightly heavier, but I suspect outside of a straight drag comparison you'd notice the difference. The roadster roof has two main issues - tearing around the rear window area (which can be quite large) and rips at the very bottom of the hood just above the door. Mine has the later on the drivers side. Its been there since I bought the car and not got any worse. I've spoken to a specialist about it and apparently its not likely to get worse rapidly, so the one to watch is tearing around the rear screen as that can be bad news. Cost of replacing a roadster roof looks like being about £1k by a specialist hood company, including parts and fitting. If you think you are handy it looks like you can buy a hood for £350, but it could look aids if you bodge it. I dont think its a "replace with time" part as such, but the oldest coupes are only 7 so perhaps this will change over time. My hood is at the older end of that and does not leak and looks fine. If you buy an older roadster you have to be willing to accept that the hood will not look spanking new - its about getting one without major things wrong with it. The other thing to note between the variants is a nicer interior on later models. Its not much different in design but the materials are "less japanese", but that's not a coupe Vs roadster issue. One thing that is is whether you need a sunglasses holder near the RVM, as the roadster does not have one. Perhaps of more importance, although the GT pack roadster does have cruise, they wont have handsfree controls for the stereo or phone connectivity on the steering wheel. Not sure exactly why, but if you totally need phone hands free then you might want to buy the coupe. A parrot will be a pain to fit due to the bose amp in the GT pack car. You want to look for whether your car has rays or the standard wheels as these are £400+ to buy.
  4. Can you take some pics at night from a couple of angles and distances please Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2
  5. Ill need the 10k ones then! Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2
  6. Wow, I feel I've really been put in my place by your post; you've proven my original comment to be so misguided. Shinjuku xxx Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2

  8. Great. So these will do ? http://www.hids4u.co.uk/D2R-Upgrade-Bulbs-brilliant-white-high-quality-6000k.html Only previously bought a last kit to upgrade from non hid to hid there there was an issue of 35w or 55w kit. On the zed is it just a bill swap and you don't need to worry about wattage? Will have a look at the guides section. Ho ho ho Dave Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2
  9. Is there a recommended bulb upgrade for the 2003 -5 headlight. I'm not interested in paying big money for the 2006 unit but if there is a good bulb option I would like to know about it. Cheers Shinjuku Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2
  10. Its not the user reviews that make it particularly useful in my view although the voting patterns do reflect general sentiment on various tyres and to that extent are definitely worth attention. Each tyre has a number of links to results of reviews conducted by mags etc. Not all do but most of the premier options have coverage. The mpss is a tyre designed to be somewhere between a normal summer tyre and a track tyre. if you like that buy it they are awesome. If not perhaps go for the 50s Id choose, and do choose, mpss and run a set of winters during the colder months but that's personal choice. Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2

  12. Have a look at tyre reviews online. Basically anything decent will do you for normal road use as long as you at least match the axle pairs. For budget go for falken 452 with a couple of extra psi or toyos. If you are willing to spend real cash on tyres then maybe take the mpss and a set of winters. There are lots of options in the middle so choose one the review sites rate and you can get a good price on. Then post on here to see if it is a known turkey Basically zed is above average in the wet and has a fairly predictable handling set up, but you can't go nailing the throttle on wet corners unless you are an amazing driver. Anything more than that and you are overthinking it to my mind. Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2
  13. Well the 50s are probably also a summer biased tyre but not massively more so than most. My point is that the mpss are designed with a dry grip bias, sit between a normal road tyre and a track tyre and the reviews say they are more.subject to aquaplaning. As above, I used them at brands in stinking weather on a well drained surface and really liked them. However due to the standing water issue I choose not to use them during winter. Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2
  14. I understand they are designed for dry grip and therefore aqua plane more than others. On just wet roads they are good due to the compound on the inner edge On poorly drained surfaces they are not great. Therefore I can't agree with ekona that they are good for winter. Perhaps read the reviews and decided for yourself if they are designed as a true all season all roads tyre or a high performance summer. Personally I run winter sport m3s in winter. 15. The 50s are a good tyre. All you need for round the year road use. The mpss aqua plane so are no good for winter Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2
  16. I do like the m6. My mate.just bought a 996 turbo with the x50 pack. Cost quite a bit. Seems lush though and the performance stats are supercar territory. I would like a 996 but suspect for 10k the interior will look super dated and it will cost to keep on the road. Op for 10k id go vx220. Or if you need a bigger car an m5 Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2
  17. The six series are all autos aren't they? What's this about a 996 for 10k? Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2
  18. Hope Santa brings everyone something zeddy Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2
  19. Oh in terms of tips listen to and feel for the rumble that should happen once the tyres are not stone cold and you approach the limit of grip. I'm not sure i would try that on the road though Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2
  20. Was at brands in really wet condition recently. Was definitely one of the quicker cars out there. I doubt its because I'm one of the best drivers so that just leaves the car being comparatively good in the wet. I was on pssp on the day with 4mm on the front and 3mm on the rear and would strongly recommend them. Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2

the only thing im not enjoying is the heavy steering at the moment, i buggered my shoulder up whilst in the sandy place, the steering is making my shoulder ache like a bugger! maybe its rehab? Have you tried the 370. Steering is lighter. It's a zed. And looks like a zed. Best change I made as I did not like the heavy steering on the 50 or the "progressive" brakes. As in when I hit the brakes ,,,,,I want brakes. They don't do that snatch thing do they. Thought you only got that on European small hatchbacks Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2
