  1. Ours sits very low but we dont have many problems at all! Scrapes the exhaust a bit on some larger bumps but thats it. Bumper, skirts etc are all fine :/
  2. That £12,000 figure was apparently a bad conversion and was a LOT cheaper.
  3. I have this too and its doing my nut in! Any clever suggestions welcome lol
  4. Will be keeping an eye on this thread as our insurance is due next month! :|
  5. Gonna give this a go on ours as the drivers side clicks for a second when pulling away some times.
  6. Yeah it was awesome, really miss it But one of them has gone to a good home with my friend and I still get to listen to it frequently which is cool lol I'll sort out a thread later - I havent done loads yet though. Got all the equipment just not installed all of it haha
  7. I had two of those in my old car 3000w RMS amp (currently in the Zed), and a 6th order box doing 146-148dB from 20-40hz Loved it! Still have one left for sale too ;) I was gonna say, what you described sounds more like a 6th order enclosure! No wonder it was so controlled and clean/crisp for a pair of 8"s! 6th orders are great for output but complicated to design and take up lots of space. Im going to be doing a sort of 6th order in the Zed with a pair of 10"s, all to come I know Ian from his Astra van days That thing is (still is? think hes rebuilding it tho) a BEAST! Soooo much air movement, love it! Ian is a top chap too, always up for a chat and very friendly The Zed is my biggest audio install challenge yet as it is an awkward shape to install into! Would be so much easier without that bloody strut brace lol! I'll see if I can put up a progress thread on my install soon for you all to have a gander at
  8. If you want to utilize the standard Bose sub location then the only way you will get decent results is to do what notfub has done and build a box within the space. Because the standard Bose sub is an Infinate Baffle variant, you will get little to no output by mounting a normal sub in its place - trust me I've tried lol! And that was with a 275w RMS JBL GT5 run off a 550w RMS Genesis Profile Sub amp. As for the Isobaric stuff, tbh I wouldnt bother with new subwoofers. Its just going to be more hassle than its worth. New subs are designed to be run in smaller enclosures and off more power to get loud. I remember reading specs for an old Phoenix Gold 12" sub from the 90s that required 3.5cuft for its "optimal" ported enclosure. A modern 12" sub would require 2cuft max for a ported enclosure. There is plenty of room available in behind the place the Bose sub mounts, I would say easily 1cuft probably near 2. A single 10" sub sealed will need around 0.8cuft of enclosure space. Ported around 1.2cuft. An 8" is obviously less. Let me know if you need any help with wiring etc. I've torn the Bose amp(s) out of my Zed and replaced them. But for the minute I'm still using the standard Bose front & rear speakers and using the Bose speaker loom connected to my own amp.
  9. Very nice!! Not seen those before and they look really nice on there
  10. Cheap budget low spec ones do. It only seems to be the nicer high spec ones like the Nexus, Galaxy Tab, Iconia, Kindle etc that have fused screen to glass. I still think its doable, just would require some fabrication work to the cubby thats all. The Nexus 7 would definitely fit in the dash in one piece with some modification to the cubby. The cubby door would need to go though I think.
  11. The upcoming Acer Iconia Tab A110 looks like a good option! Very similar spec to the Nexus 7 but with the added bonus of MicroSD! I'll research more into it when its available.
  12. Haha! They are epic! Next on my car list after the Zed. Was going to be a Monaro but leaning over towards one of these now instead. A few years to wait yet tho, let the prices drop lol
  13. My current plans have changed after seeing a friends MY06 Zed with factory sat nav. His doesnt have any cubby door, the nav is just there in its place. Im now thinking of removing the cubby completely and creating my own mount for the tablet in its place. Also going to make it removable so we can still use the tablet as a tablet, and put it in the car when wanted. Also means it can be removed for security reasons and easier to transfer files onto it etc etc
  14. Do you have the air con on?? That will raise the revs to around 1000rpm anyway. Mine does this, I thought it was perfectly normal tbh?? Every car I've owned has idled a bit high when starting from cold cold. Only last til its warmed up then settles to a normal 800rpm-ish with air con off, and 1000rpm with air con on.

    New Pics

    Needs sideskirts badly!!
  16. Pioneer. They're cheaper units are very very good value Pioneer and Alpine are always the only Headunit manufacturers I would buy from
  17. From what I've read some of the gauges are inaccurate and will over-read near the top end. Hence seeing some which hit max. Of course they may just have faaar too much oil in there lol
  18. Ours is like this too, but the top part of the Z is broken lol! Same thing happened. It doesnt look too bad tho as the tape kinda completes the Z if you look from afar Good tip on buying the FairladyZ badge and just using the Z bit tho! Where was it purchased from, ebay?
  19. Mine is on hold for the moment due to having to spend cash on other things!
  20. Ahhh really thats a bit of a bummer! Thanks anyway Mark. Did you have any idea what my codes may be? If they are P1146, P1147, P1166 and P1167 rather than what I said originally? Thanks
  21. Ash did you see this thread?? - http://www.mp3car.com/show-off-your-pro ... build.html Metal bracket to hold the unit in place, although that one only seems to be on one half lol! Do the same all the way across + the tape and that should hold it well! I was thinking of using the No More Nails sticky tape as that stuff is the business!
  22. Nice update How much did the cubby cost?? I've had a look back over the Nook Color install thread I posted up before. After seeing the pic of your cubby and Ash's cubby - it looks like he has cut away all of the running gear for the screen to make the tablet fit :/ I wonder if the lid even still closes? This is a shame as it seems we will only be able to fit units that are easy to dismantle into the cubby, with the screen having to be not much more than 7" diagonal with glass. I would love to be able to close the lid and hide the tablet from view. But that option seems to be looking more & more complicated, expensive and would yield a less desirable tablet. Maybe I should just hack up my current cubby lol!
