  1. Hi, you are only robbed when money leaves you so........... When I sold my Z I had quite a few scam emails all sourcing from Autotrader, not Pistonheads. Example below - my reply to 'Barbara' (most probably a big sweaty guy in an internet cafe on the African continent) was that "cheques in any form are not acceptable". I never heard another word. The postcode is for an old peoples home! Here is what 'she' wrote: ========================================================= Good Morning, Thanks for your quick response and am also excited to hear from you that the vehicle is still available for sale. And thanks for the information you just gave about the vehicle and am quite delighted to hear from you that the vehicle is still in great conditions The reason why am purchasing this vehicle is because My self and my partner just need one additional vehicle. Please i want you to email me more pictures aside from the one on web advert page if is still available both the exterior and interior.Since all the details you put on the advert are updated and real,i think there is no need for me to be worrying i think i have found what am looking for. According to the Features of the vehicle and the Full Description of the vehicle which i saw on the advert page i'm fully satisfied.I want you to accept my offer of £5600 inclusive the advert fees just because I know what the worth of the vehicle ,and also for you to reserve the vehicle for me.The only way you will release the vehicle to any one is when the cash is in your hand, i.e. payments cleared at bank, and withdrawn. I am located at Llanfairpwll in Anglesey Ll61 5jf. I will only required your full name and your postal address, so that the bankers draught or the certified Cheque could be posted to you via royal mail.My preffered method of payment is by bankers draft or certified cheque in a (GBP) which may take 3 to 4 working days to Clear. Please note that you will only release the vehicle until you have received confirmation from your bank that the payment has been given value and cleared.I hope to hear from you today in order to proceed further with the payment and shipping arrangements as soon as possible.I look forward to hear back from you today. Cheers Barbara =========================================================================================== See also http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topi ... mid=0&i=20
  2. ^This. Why would you embed a dodgy msn email address into your photo? And why would a private seller have a 0843 number?? Autotrader, PIstonheads etc. run TeleSafe. Your real number mobile/landline is recoded for the advert. The service is free. Also entering an ad' if you are not careful on AT it is time consuming. AT kept making my car year as 2007 when I wanted 2004. Took a phone call and 30 minutes of fiddlying about Mike
  3. This is my old car! These are ventilation holes to prevent corrosion The reason they show is that Halfrauds mis measured the custom plate and when they arrived I pointed this out and got the plates for free... I think square plates are better on any car Mike
  4. I'm assuming that was one of the non genuine keys without any remote functions? Yes correct but I felt very twitchy about having only one key. I think they do remotes but the guy just read the code on a machine and cut the key and implanted the chip for the NATS on the Z - cheapest option for a back up Mike
  5. I got a back up key for £50 at Timpsons. http://www.timpson.co.uk/services/70/remote-car-keys
  6. Glad you are keeping it Did not intend to be picky
  7. Yes I agree. Perhaps it is an import, nothing wrong with that but strange way to sell a car. Compression tests with plugs out how do you do it with them in Body looks in good shape from afar. He will not see 6k unless he is very very lucky. I just sold my 04 Coupe JDM with 51k on the clock for 5.4k asked 5.5k but my car was bang on. I feel a bit sorry for him. Mike
  8. Came across this: http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/3871277.htm Looking around/researching for a 370 but I thought the ad' really strange - what do peeps think? Mike
  9. Why not buy from Halfrauds a maintenance charger? They are about £15 and work very well. I had my car in the garage for eight weeks when the roads had loads of salt down. Car fired up first time. If you have to park on the street then perhaps take the battery out. Caravan places sell the isolation switches. Mike
  10. "Fair bit of oil" - if it were me I would walk away now. There are sometimes small weeps between sump and block. My advice is leave it and carry on looking. This is not right Mike
  11. But remember to wind your windows down a bit before battery disconnect Mike
  12. Hi, As a starting point but do look at the paperwork slowly and carefully. M
  13. Yes how is it ruining............... Mike
  14. Hi, When you do get the right car - first job get the steering laser aligned - not Kwik something light bulb alignment. Mike
  15. Hi, ============= What sort of MPG do they typically return? Is there any pro's/con's to getting an import? Do the earlier models have any problems? Any other major running costs that i should factor in? Any common problems to look out for? ============== 1. Depends on how you drive, expect between 22-30MPH 2. In my view it does not matter whether an import or uk - all depends on how the car has been used and looked after. If it has been imported properly it would have to be certificated and be spec standard, would have kph to mph conversion, fog light fitted etc. etc. The record of the certification is recorded on the V5 Imports are limited to 112MPH. A UpRev delimitation will allow it to 155MPH. If you go onto the VoSA website you can check the whole history of the car, test wise, if you have the registration number and the V5C number. The information is free. 3. My 2004 JDM Coupe (which I have just sold) had no big problems. It had the common issue of tailgate struts failing which will cost you about £60 to sort. I think you need to see the receipts on the services and the advisory notes - don't just rely on stamps in a service books. Racing cams you mentioned - that would make me slightly twitchy - who did it and why ........ 4. The services are not especially expensive - £125-200 for P1/P2 - P3 more expensive. My fully comprehensive insurance for the JDM was £330 per year but I have a clean licence, live in a area where there is just above zero car crime and am over 50. 5. Do a search on the forum and you will find plenty of faqs and posts about what to look for. I would not be put off looking at imports at all. The purchase and re-sale price is less than UK spec which I think is the only downside to a JDM if you are selling. If you buy one then you can save £1000's .......... Good luck
  16. The pair of Nissan springs were £16 inc. I have just sold the car and the paperwork went with it. I will have a look around my emails and if found will let you know. Zmanalex may have some
  17. Hi, just sold my JDM import - does not really matter if uk or import. What really matters is how it has been looked after mileage/services etc. Check the paperwork and go onto VOSA so you can check (free) the mileage when it was imported. Mike
  18. Well good luck with your sale. I advertised in Pistonheads and Autotrader. The Autotrader ad attracted the most scam emails. I advertised for 5.5k and got 5.4k via the AT ad. Mike
  19. Well Broke down from Spain? On a loader, normally RR travel covered...............when they don't go............ http://www.gtspirit.com/2011/06/06/over ... -marbella/ http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article ... -pots.html Comfy dogs see daily mail link Nice interior Mike
