  1. Oh man, that video is like porn to me. I think you have just cost me soooooo much money - I want one! Save me looking through all the posts - how much was this again? I missed the first modding wave in the early part of the century - I'm going to be right on time for this one!
  2. Like the earlier post said - if you lock the car with the key in the door (like the old days) it shouldn't arm the volumetric (interior) alarm in most cars. I think an insurer would have a tough job proving that you'd left the windows open if it was stolen - as long as you leave nothing in view, you'd be unlucky if anyone broke in.

  4. That looks the nuts, great vision. You've got me thinking now....
  5. I feel your pain - that must have been a real t1t squeezer. As above - my roadster suffered this, but not quite so spectacularly, and a respray is the only way to rectify. Around here, you'd be looking at about £150 to get that done to a decent standard - so, not 'end of the world' stuff. To improve its appearance you could lightly wet and dry the edges of the damage and polish back up, as I did - but it won't grow back I'm afraid.
  6. Yeah, fair do's to the guy, if he's bought the car from the proceeds of hard graft. It took me three years drug dealing to get my first car at 21 which was a 6 year old Audi 80 - which for the record I paid £500 to insure in 1987! My comments on the insurance side of it were well intentioned - and for all of those of you who have managed to insure a Z at 21 for £500 (or whatever) I remain amazed that any underwriter would do that - it must be something to do with area codes, because around where I live and operate you cannot insure anything really desireable - like a Corsa SXi - for less than £500 at 21.
  7. Jeez - don't know how you two are inputting your details but I'd be amazed if you could get insurance on a zed for £2000 at 18 (or 19). Even allowing for the gender directive - which stopped firms discriminating against young male drivers even though statistically they have the most accidents - I can't see that £2k adequately covers the risk...and then there's those aftermarket wheels, exhausts.... Please believe I'm not trying to be an @rse or a killjoy - but if you don't disclose all relevant facts to an insurer - not just the ones that they ask for, you are storing up problems and leaving yourselves open to having your cover voided in the event of a claim - which could be potentially ruinous to you.
  8. Looks like a nice car - like the wheels particularly. Just one word of caution - I'm an insurance broker and in my opinion there's absolutely no chance of an 18 (or 19) year old getting insurance in their own name on any postcode for £1400 - and that's before you start on the modifications. Just bear in mind that if you've not disclosed all the facts it will be troublesome (to say the least) if you have a claim.
  9. The reason I was asking about disconnecting the battery prior to charging it was that I believe that if you don't you can cause havoc with the electrics. Same can happen if you jumpstart a car. I recently had a porsche boxster that had a load of electrical components blown out when the guy who was selling it to me jump started it in front of me :-) If I remember correctly, I think there are also some fuses in a box in front of the battery. I haven't got a fuse map handy but it would be worth checking which fuses relate to your problems and recheck them.
  10. Did you disconnect the battery to charge it?
  11. Expect the service history to be patchy at best if it's an import - it's rare the records from japan stay with the car and even if they exist unless your command of Japanese is good it may not mean much to you! Use your instinct. General condition. Clean oil. All the fluids at the right levels etc.
  12. Yup, I can confirm you'll be very lucky to get an exact match. There's several different colours on mine! That really does look too purple though - you're asking a lot for a perfect match, but that doesn't even look like a good match. I do a bit of spraying and it is a perennial problem getting colours to match - for all the reasons people have mentioned. That's why they like to spray full sides / ends - so people aren't disappointed...usually.
  13. I've got both - a uk roadster and a JDM coupe auto. I absolutely love the auto - I've put a UK rear bumper on mine, just so no one knows I'm harbouring an import!
  14. These are my contributions to the azuri cause
  15. Pics as promised of the 2 zeds Just given the coupe the UKM treatment
  16. I'll treat all of you who are keen to see pics tomorrow when I have washed 'the bookends' Continuing the gearbox debate into controversial territory - I'd be interested in seeing the performance stats, as I'm convinced the auto would mince my manual roadster (which is decatted, running a jwt air filter and an Abbey remap) in a straight line as it seems so much more eager on the throttle response. Mind you, the roadster was definitely preferable to a coupe without air con today :-)
  17. Still no air con but what a great car in auto guise - cannot believe that it was never offered as an option in the uk.....madness
  18. Thanks for the replies - I'll try that when I've got a few minutes at the weekend. Otherwise, I'll maybe pop over and see you - I had actually picked up your name off Google and noticed that you were endorsed by the zed website.
  19. I bought a jdm 2005 350z recently and failed to notice aircon wasn't working. If you have it on it's lowest setting it will bring in ambient air and add no heat to it - but if it's hot outside, you get hot air - if you go up just one click the heater goes mad and makes the cabin unbearably hot. My usual aircon specialist tested the system and quickly identified that the condensor was damaged which was replaced and the system was recharged with gas - which it has held on to. Problem is, the climate control unit will not make the aircon kick in - we can do it manually by powering it but we can't make the system work from the switchgear. We noticed that the ambient temperature gauge in the vehicle reads a series of dashes and indicates icy, so thinking the sensor had been damaged in the light shunt that damaged the condenser - we replaced this. Even though we tested the sensor prior to fitting the guage in the car still reads --- (icy) The poor guy has had the car to be bits twice and had read the workshop manual I managed to find, but cannot get the system to operate and has now given up - which I can understand but leaves me still with a hot car going into summer! Anyone any ideas or know anyone in the Yorkshire region who has any experience with the nissan air con system? I did have a kind offer of help from kaiser motor but he's over 200 miles away so was looking for someone a bit closer if possible - I'm based in East Yorkshire myself.
  20. That's a very kind offer Kaizer Motor - thank you - and one I would dearly like to take you up on if I didn't live 211 miles from your workshop! I shall see if I can get some business appointments down there in the near future - there must be someone I can find in kent who needs financial advice :-) Failing that - can anyone recommend someone a little closer to my East Yorkshire location who is a wiz with auto heating systems?
  21. Revive - did anybody bottom this out? My 2005 jdm has the same symptoms. :-( It has driven my usual air con engineer mad to the point he has handed it back! Really want this sorting with summer coming - is there anybody out there who considers themselves an expert who could sort this? Or provide easy to follow instructions...
  22. Thanks gmballistic - I have tried Alex, but haven't heard anything
  23. Thanks, I'd looked on eBay - I was looking for someone with a little less commercial zeal and a little more altruism to come into view! Obviously, prepared to pay something though, happy to do it in stages too - so, if fug can come through with the wallet - I'll be halfway there.
  24. I've got a set of these bnib - bought them last month, but decided not to fit them. If anyone wants to make a sensible offer on them (bearing in mind I can just stick them back on eBay) PM me, it'll save you the slow boat from China :-)
