  1. Also, arguments about the Land Rover are quite frankly irrelevant. I judge the speed I should be going through a corner on my own ability, the car's ability and the conditions rather than the speed of the person in front of me. I have twice witnessed the person in front of me write off their car and have enough sense to know two things: i. I am able to decide for myself what is appropriate for any given stretch of the road. ii. Many cars on the road including some Land Rovers will have far superior handling ability/control in a number of situations than I will in my zed because while I personally love my car I have the sense to know that there all cars are different and many are better for different purposes/in different situations. This is a quality bit of advice Sasha
  2. Gotta be worth a go before ordering a new unit. Will def be trying this. Thanks
  3. I think that sounds harder than any other job on this thread and I don't mean that in a patronising way Honestly mate, it can be rough but I love it. I always leave work shattered but pretty satisfied with a days work, and I get to drive home with a smile on my face I know we have a few service guys on the forum. Have to say total respect to them, having grown up in NI I've always been amazed and extremely grateful at the way those guys put themselves on the line! for me!
  4. Yeah, I trapped my thumb some years ago in work, absolute agony, nail completely black. Took a trip down to the medical centre in work and the nurse drilled a hole in the nail the using a needle. She simply rotated the needle back and forth until the blood came out, easy peasy. I've used the same technique several times since then on blood blisters underneath the nail. Pete Yep both of these work great, i've also used an unfolded paperclip heated on the gas. Or rambo style as i like to call it
  5. Nice car you've bought mate. Health to drive.
  6. So sorry mate. But the car has done her job well there, kept you safe to walk away tell us about it . Good luck with whatever you decide to go for!
  7. You make several reasonable point mate. I hope in return you do not mind if I add my opinion. You are right in that people make assumptions, it is an inescapable human nature. In most cases this is based on previous experiences and the information available to them at the time. While I appreciate you may feel that no one has taken you seriously in your initial post, the information given there is the information we have to go on, could I give you insight into my initial impressions? Your initial post talks of your experience in owning and driving a noble and sub 3 second to 60 bikes. This can be taken in 2 ways, yes you have probably a good backround knowledge, but also you are talking about a bar of performance that is way above a stock zed (yes I appreciate you want to mod but you don't say anywhere that you have experience in this). You currently drive a car that if modded would be as quick as a Zed. It certainly led me to wonder if you had expectations of the car (not your ability) that where too high. Also the FI section and dyno results section etc give you access to most of this information without the need to start a new thread in the first place which made me wonder how much time you had spent researching around this again leading me towards the thought that your expectations may not be based on solid ground either. I'm not saying this is the sole reason you didn't get an immediate answer to your question but I do feel it contributed in part to the derailment of the thread. You are right we all make assumptions and in light of limted information they will be less accurate. I'm sorry if you feel you've had a bad experience with these guys, ive found them to be nothing but helpful and good banter. Whether you feel you want to share with us on a forum is ultimately your choice mate and ultimately you'll get more from sharing than we would loose. Perhaps you could take the time to outline what you are planning to do. I'm sure folks who know much more than I do will be happy to pitch in with ideas and opinions. I am not trying to be inflammatory with this post but simply want to give you the chance to move beyond your and our first impressions and get on with talking about your project. You obviously like your motors. These guys do too. So why not put it behind us and have some fun. Cheers R
  8. The guy coming the other way when that skyline pulls out (2mins15) must have needed new underwear after watching that effort! Quality videos mate.
  9. Shame you feel that way mate. Hope you get what you want/need.
  10. I washed mine yesterday in took her a run from my house to my fiancée's along the back roads (about 40 miles) shouldn't have bothered washing first really, it's boggin already! Loved every minute tho
  11. My wee brother has a 330ci, in a straight line my almost stock zed is only a fraction quicker. I'd like to think I'd paste him round a track but he's actually prob a better driver than me (not that I'll ever tell him that )
  12. Yep it resulted in me staying in work on Thursday night. I was due to finish at 0300 but be oncall till 0800. I walked out of the front door to A&E and looked at the snow falling, only thing it was worth walking to my car for was to get the sleeping bag out of the boot. Really didnt fancy having to race back in for an emergency, id probaby have stacked it and created more work for everyone! It was an uncomfortable night on the office floor. Tho i didnt actually tell the SHOs i was staying, id never have got any sleep!
  13. I've only seen 2 since I got mine in August! Didn't get a wave back neither. Used to get plenty in the scooby.
  14. In my best norn Irish "get er lit!"
  15. Throttle controller won't change your cars potential performance in any gear, it could be matched by simply putting your foot down a bit harder surely? It just modulates the input from your pedal up or down, it doesnt actually change anything else. At least thats my understanding.
  16. There is video of one on a 370z on YouTube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FDen2W58 ... ata_player Company is based in Canada. I had a quick look, didn't find a uk supplier, emailed the guy and he quoted $370 total price shipped.
  17. Mate it sounds to me like your only planning on doing this once, if that's the case I'd wait till u add any other mods that'll help ur performance, that way you'll get a little more bang for your buck. I think I'm in a similar situation to you, I've decided to save a few ( ok mabye a few more than that) extra pennies for a plenum spacer and possibly some HFCs first. I think I'll probably opt for a throttle controller in the interim simply because resale value is good and you'll not hurt the car or your pocket to do it.
  18. Needed my ESP last night coming off a roundabout, greasy as get out on the roads round me at the moment, for a second i forgot myself (used to driving an idiot proof awd turbo) and was glad i had the computer to back up my handful of opposite to correct my lack of talent! Never got too scary but definitely woke me up. Im running goodyear eagle F1s at the minute. Id recommend keeping the ESP firmly on till you get a good feel for the car in different conditions.
  19. Nice zed mate, very cool. Notice the NI reg, are you based here? Health to drive!
  20. Havent spent much time rooting about on the zed yet but usually they are kicking around in a box near the battery, should be unplug replace and go id have thought. sorry i cant be of more help
  21. I had this on my old bora when the relay was loose, pushed it bk, problem solved. Didn't happen when switched off tho. I'm sure someone smarter than me will be along soon
