  1. Thought I would try sell the car on here, have had a few 'nibbles' with it advertised on various trading websites. Advert can be found here on PH http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/2630871.htm but in summary metallic black Astra SRi with tonnes of extra goodies on there. Its immaculate and as you can see VERY genuine reason for sale, to buy a 350z. Thanks Col
  2. Some people eh. Got a guy wants to buy my car, he agrees to come look at it today. I work from home to accommodate this. We agree a price over the phone so we are not wasting time, its less than what I got it up for. Then he goes quiet, hour later rings and wants even more money off because he got a deal with someone else he claims which is a bit less than mine. Car isn't the same its a year older but same mileage. Can see what he is doing, trying to get good value, but wasting my time - especially when I have already told him my bottom price which is above what he came back and offered. So told him to go for the other car then.
  3. I am a little confused as to how people classify the colour of their car, this is classed as silver in the ad listing, its GM right?
  4. We should start a 'what is the best colour and why' debate I am a fanatical car cleaner, every week I am out there. It's my relaxation time...
  5. Thanks Tez, I am going to try get the black colour I want but will bear it in mind as GM is my second choice. I am a sucker for black cars, had a black Scriocco previously, now my black Astra...
  6. "My dads bigger than your dad"
  7. Oh yes, two people coming to see the car over the coming couple of days. Its an immaculate car so reckon I am in with a chance of selling if they are serious. Also gave me time to think about what I really want. Certainly Black is my favoured colour, a GT pack for sure, 2004, Rays if poss, no more than 55k miles. Want to spend about £9k still, reckon I should be able to get that - if anyone knows of one going...
  8. Put in London Road - London and see what you get
  9. I find the right hand lane-straight on thing a bit of a tricky one actually. On my way to work the single road splits at some lights where you can turn right or go straight on. What gets my goat a bit is when someone is sat on the right with right indicator on stuck there waiting for the traffic coming the other way to clear so can turn right but also blocking any chance of using the right hand lane to go straight on. So the rest of us going straight on use the left lane, common sense you might think. Then you get the plant life who look at the situation and then just drive past everyone down the right side then stick on their left indicator and start trying to get back into the left lane at the front of the queue. Thus blocking anyone else who wants to go right and causing the freeflowing left lane to slow down to let him in. I often find myself muttering "common sense isn't common"
  10. Problem with entering just the road is that if you put in London Road you then get 1000+ possible options, enter a postcode and it comes up with maybe 3 or 4 other roads along with London Road.
  11. Haha no noises, the light was sufficient to scare the crap out of them and make sure they learned a lesson...
  12. Out of interest, the BOSE stereo, what exactly do you get with that in the GT pack over the non GT? Is it just a better head unit or are the speaker systems upgraded too?
  13. Once my mate and I were on an A road at night, a road that goes from one to two lanes and back to one at various points. Some silly boys were tailgating and as soon as we hit a two lane section they drove by and flicked the V's and then proceeded to lean out the window and SPIT onto my mates car. He remained surprisingly calm, then as they sped up to drive off he reached down to the door pocket and produced a little blue LED torch which had a wrist cord attached. He switched it on, grabbed it by the cord, wound the window down, held it out the window above the car and started spinning it round and round by the cord. I guess from their point of view all they could see were headlights and a flashing blue light on an unmarked car The car ahead then immediately hammered on the brakes, and pulled to a stop by the side of the road. We just drove by and blanked them. They didn't try tailgating us again. Illegal, but genuis.
  14. I got a call from my brother who said he had taken off looking for them, so I drove around trying to find dad and just found a van shaped hole in a wooden fence so got out the car and followed on foot picking up this trail of spanners and other various tools until I came across the scene, just in time to see them start crying. Priceless. I too also believe in Karma.
  15. Thing is the car I am looking at has this unit, and I would rather it didn't Certainly not buying the car for the sat nav and certainly will put the dealer in his place if he tried to leverage it as a selling point...
  16. I don't own a 350z yet but last year I got a brand new black Scirocco company car. It looks very sleek and very fast and all of a sudden I attracted all these silly little kids in crapmobiles. Some plonker in a Citroen C1 tailgating me in country lanes, I was at the back of a queue of cars and everytime he tried to overtake the car hit a 1 degree gradient and wouldnt go over 50, it was utterly ridiculous. In the end he turned right at a roundabout going round it on the outside on literally two wheels and cutting up anyone in his path. This guy is was a first class nugget and I suspect has already been removed from the human gene pool. Fortunately I am not as mad as my dad, who has been a car mechanic for 40 years working in east london, having been picking up gearboxes and axles for many a decade is hard as nails. Two local thugs who thought they were hard mugged my brother, dad found out and went 'hunting them', found them in a playing field some miles away so he drove through the fence to the field in the van with half his stuff dropping out the back where the door came loose, caught them up, jumped out, held one down with a boot on his head whilst he picked the other one up by the neck and gave them an 'education' about treating people with respect, and yes, they did cry.
  17. I do have a very good Garmin unit at the moment, so just wondering how best I could use it given this older larger one is in the cubby hole. Rather bizarre that post code mapping isnt on the standard unit.
  18. Good grief...actually I quite like the car, just that it comes with this ancient sat nav - It must be possible to replace the centre console area and take it out I would have thought? Either that or I wonder if there is room enough between the screen and the panel for another modern sat nav unit to sit?
  19. Thought so, any way it can be removed? I would much prefer to have the storage space..!
  20. Assume this sat nav unit works ok, I have read numerous reports that it doesn't? Seen a few cars I am interested in, that are UK cars (2004), with the sat nav. Sorry if this is a dumb question....
  21. yeah I know. I bought the Astra because the wife wanted something sensible but she rarely drives it. We are both very much in the 'if you want it go for it' segment of person and when I set up a motoring website (something that a mate and I thought up, looks pretty good now!) and reviewed my own car I was a bit non excited about it. She read it and realised I gave up my driving enjoyment for something sensible and just said sell it and go for something exciting that I would enjoy... ...so here I am.
  22. Thought so cheers sarnie, just needed that second opinion
  23. Wow, that was a risk, but I like it. I am a bit of a risk taker myself so can imagine what you were going through. I almost put it on ebay the other day, but got a bit confused by the whole thing. To be honest I am getting fairly good offers from dealers, some I am getting up to about 90% of the asking price privately when p/xing with a 350z they have in stock. ...its just finding a 350z in the first place in the price bracket I am looking for. An extra couple of grand the market really opens up. Where I am (which is limited by house purchase and possible kiddies arriving at some point) its very hit and miss and really decent UK cars are sold within hours.
