  1. Good call on the gear knob, the one on my car is worn right down and looks rather shabby.
  2. I have two black richbrook aluminium tax disc holders for tax and parking permit, looks miles better than any sticker type holders in the window and really changed the aggression-look level of the car. What was your best/most surprisingly good cheap mod?
  3. Tax is £245 a year for pre 06 cars...nice little bonus. My fuel economy started at about 16mpg, then I learned to change gear before hitting the redline Its now up to 23mpg including that 16 odd I was doing at first so probably about 26mpg driven sensibly. Insurance, well depends Im 'older', male, living in trendy part of london, car parked on the street, my insurance is only £120 a year more than the 1.8 Astra I had which is ridiculous. I got the boot divider in mine, works really well, got three large sports bags in there at the weekend, then threw various other bits in the space in front of the divider (jackets etc). Oh and of course you get a great set of cubby holes behind the seats for odds and sods, loads of cubby holes in the car actually.

    My new Zed

Im gagging to get new wheels, but I need to fix the axle rattle first, also the tyres need replacing, wheels come after that...
  5. That was about my budget, you can sneak an 04 plate GT for that much although most options will be silver or orange. If you got the time to hang around you will get the odd black or gun metal one turn up, definintely hang in there for the GT version though as I saw the non GT versions sitting on websites for sale for weeks and weeks.
  6. I had carbon fiber on my previous car, wrapping the front grille and rear boot strip, liked it at first but then came to dislike it quite a lot! So might stick to colour coding it....
  7. Yep cheers for that mate, will go with the paint job I think...
  8. No, do rant, I know I did about halfway down the M40 when a few things became apparent that I missed. I had just sold my Astra and was totally transparent with the guy on the phone as ironically he was coming down from Birmingham (I went up to Coventry for the Zed). Just glad I got the private plate off him with the car really.

    My new Zed

Well, two weeks in, it was bought at a knock down price due to a few little scrapes and some neglect by the previous owner but getting it back up to standard now...some shots with my SLR others with my iPhone!
  10. Looks great, added to my styling list...

    Outer CV Joint!

Sorry Dave, didn't see a smiley for 'unnecessary sarcasm' that was all

    Outer CV Joint!

Will do, might jack it up again tonight, if it doesn't tip it down...

    Outer CV Joint!

You know what I nearly PM'd Zman but wondered if those guys do mechanical parts like that so thought I would be less presumptious and post in the wanted bit first... ...typical spurs fan

    Outer CV Joint!

Wonder if someone can help or point me in the right direction. Had a look a the rear left wheel which was making a whooshing sound, it seems it might be a faulty brake disc rubbing against the pads but whilst the wheel and caliper were off my dad was taking a look and noticed movement in the outer part of the wheel and none on the inner part. Looks like an outer CV joint is on its way out. Anyway he greased it up but it still made a bit of a knocking sound (which you cant hear when the wheel is on!) so we thought to change the outer CV joint. Who on here would be able to get one? No motor factors seem to stock this so it would be Nissan dealer job which might turn nasty on my wallet...
  16. I'm gradually finding all sorts of little bits and pieces. When I bought the car the guy selling deliberately had the passenger window lock engaged in case I tried to open the window, if I had I would have heard the CV joint rattling away... ...Exhaust has a little blow on mine too, very very minor and can only hear it when I covered the exhaust pipes. Sounds like it is coming from the front passenger side. And tyres are running low (although I did know that) so need a new set on there as well. Good news on the replacement exhaust though, handy to have that around!
  17. You got any photos? You had it painted?
  18. Sorry I did mean exterior, are they plastic, I'm not sure I didn't check ...
  19. Cheers, dropped him a PM although fear he may be a little far away ...
  20. Not a fan of the silver plastic door handles...so thought why not make them black like the car. Had a quick google search on this and lots of people considered painting them but referenced the 'wear' ultimately taking the shine off it. So I thought, what about wrapping them? Is that possible? Anyone tried?
  21. Ah sod it, took the car to my dad who took a look at the noisy rear passenger side wheel, reckons its an outer cv joint on the way out that is making the noise on the rear wheel. No wonder the guy I bought the car from locked the passenger window when I was sat in it...

    Front bumper

Really, interesting. Might have to take a look at that. First things first though a set of Falkens all round...that'll be 400 odd quid out the window straight away!

    Front bumper

Have to say the old fashioned 'scrappy' seems to be disappearing from the UK. Can't say I know a single one anywhere near me...
  24. New tyres needed, umming and urring about aftermarket alloys... ...needs a new front bumper but I am now looking at all sorts of full bodykits! Take it you don't need to do much to yours?!
  25. Sold my old car and bought a Z the following day! Would have really been interested in that one you got if I had sold my old car sooner. Adjustable ride height and new exhaust as well hasnt it? This is my purchase ...
