  1. Back...yep motordyne, so great instructions and everything you need... ...ended up with some boxes/cd cases holding the plenum up for me(!) but didnt need to detach any rubber pipes in the end either which made it easier. Slide the spacer in, tighten down bolts in order etc being really careful not to overtighten...started the car and it made the most awful squealing noise! Went back and tightened all the bolts a bit more, started up the car to that lovely low level grumble I know and love Car idled at about 2k revs for a bit then seemed to very quickly sort itself out and sat down at 800. Took it for a spin up the road, certainly feels more responsive although no power increase that I can tell but know that is to come on Thurs Well worth saving yourself £100 at the garage and doing yourself - very satisfying to do it when you are a mechanical incompetent!
  2. Got the drill charged up and some wire brushes to give the plenum a good going over as well whilst I am at it... ...can you tell I am delaying doing this!
  3. I am on the periphery of the london pollution cloud so its not too cold fortunately!
  4. About to go fit the spacer myself...reading instructions for about the 10th time...fingers crossed!

    Blingtastic!

Jesus god almighty what a hideous car - why buy someone elses nasty motor, just spend a few quid and bling your own - that is truly awful.
  6. ... love this website and a couple of my favourite TV ads are: http://www.tellyads.com/show_movie.php?filename=TA1744 http://www.tellyads.com/show_movie.php?filename=TA3711 Whats your fav TV ad of all time?
  7. That is funny good work fella! Its about 3:30min I really started bellowing! I used to play a few online shooty games, and its amazing how people just go off the wall. I did this camping thing once, and nailed the same guy six times in a row. He just kept rushing my position. Then the abusive messages started saying how crap I was and the like. So just forwarded them all to Sony...and that was that really.
  8. Its the mobile version that is required really
  9. +1 They know you will get the insurance money and go out and buy shiney new tellys and stuff, so will return to get them. They should be shot. Yes people often get done over multiple times and that sounds scary. Proximity lights and house alarms can help, and just do stuff like leaving lights on (sorry greens) and closing curtains whilst you are out will deter them. Stick up some signs to show you have improved security etc. Anything to make them back up and think twice. Of course if they try it again shoot the scum. I loved a story about how some scallys were breaking into footballers houses, and one they tried to do turned out to be Duncan Fergusons place, they broke in whilst he was there and he got charged for assault when he battered the pair of them Gotta love Big Dunc.
  10. Wasnt directed at you pal, sorry just realised it might have looked that way!
  11. A vote would be a good idea - although bear in mind that ebay spotting occurs on many forums, chat sites, mates discussing down the pub hell even ebay sends you emails showing you new items which match things you like to look at - taking it off the forum means that the members who are on here will be at a disadvantage compared to everyone else who quite rightly chat about information in the public domain - its interesting that you want to enforce a self control over the flow of information on this forum whereas on others links are posted up left right and centre - but thats your call Also the comment about lazy people not deserving them. Well I have been manic at work over the last two weeks - only looked at ebay twice Doesnt mean I have been lazy, just busy, but would appreciate it if someone found something for me on there.
  12. Yes because if its posted here then the whole world knows about - because there are not forums for 350z's elsewhere that might be doing the same thing... Read all the posts, certainly more people for it than against it. As for the argument that 'if you dont put in the time to find then why should you get it' what a load of old nonsense, never heard such utter crap in all my life Your mate says to you "hey buddy I found a great deal on a car you were looking for" are you going to turn him away and pretend you didn't hear him because you didn't find it yourself? Would you berate him for finding you a bargain that you yourself had not found and ruined a bargain for someone else. Good grief, tune into sanity FM. ebay = public website therefore open to the public to find, discuss and share as much info as the public likes and wants.
  13. I hear that K2s are hit and miss, some people have no problem some people spend a lot of extra time and effort to force them to fit. I do get somewhat confused really as if you have gone to the trouble as a business to build and sell exhausts for a particular car why not make them the right shape? In my simplistic view of the world it is surely as much effort to make it the wrong size and shape as it is to make it the right one Milltek is a good quiet exhaust when you need it to be - loving mine - and I was looking at many exhausts. I was worried it wouldnt give the Zed a sporty tone but it works lovely, and Berks going on next week Just took a quick vid last night, had to not really rev it too hard as I didnt want to wake the neighbours!

  15. I am now in the habit of sticking in about 35/40 quids worth everytime it hits quarter of a tank. Doesnt fill it up (goes to about just under 3/4s) but also I never have the car running on vapour either - so I suppose its good refuelling practice!
  16. Have always heard good things about the JVC units - I think the 830 is going pretty cheap now as well? Caraudiosecurity, I know a few guys on an Astra forum I was on used them previously and they were all happy with the service.
  17. Unfortunately dealerships (and not exclusively Nissan) are pretty poor when it comes to servicing. My family have been mechanicking for fifty years and they are always commenting how they are getting cars 'serviced' by dealerships come to him afterwards in a shoddy state and massively over charged. It may sound good getting a dealership stamp but as a previous poster said, mostly the experienced fella who talks to you when you hand the car over gives the keys to someone else, who tosses them to the work experience kid who does the service. If you are going to pay the premium, get a your monies worth by having a proper mechanic on it.
  18. Alex - how so? I'm confused as to how you can get access to the plate without removing what's above it first, including the gear lever/knob? Another part of the reason I decided to leave the procedure to Nissan is that not having attempted this before myself, I'm not sure how to align the gear selector plate anyway? In fact come to think of it I don't even know what the plate looks like, although I'm kinda hoping I'd know it when I see it I am assuming this is the plate under the rubber/fluff etc under the gear gaiter? If so it is a doddle and even a complete spanner incompetent like myself managed it in about 15 mins. You dont need to take the gear knob off as Alex said (although I did in any case) you can just pop and lift everything (plastic, gaiter, rubber, fluff etc) and it will be there under it all - you just need to then loosen the bolts and put the car into 5th and move the plate alongside it. then the same for 6th. If its not that, then slap me and tell me to sod off. If it is, just wanted to reassure you it really should be something you can do at home!
  19. The fuel computer does the same thing, says I have say 80 miles then as I am driving it will start losing a mile every ten seconds or so when the gauge drops. ...Darren, going around roundabouts, does it do the same thing if you are going around them sideways
  20. We rang our insurers who stuck it on - we didnt get the multicar thing as insurance is out of sync at the moment but by next year we should be ok. Becks is 7 months pregnant, she just cant manage with the Zed as well as she could bless her, even getting in and out, so we go that and took the insurance hit on the chin .. an 04 plate Ghia 1.8 petrol, very happy with it. Funny thing was, we were already insured with Diamond on the Zed, Becks rang up to insure a Ford Focus, 1.8 Ghia and they quoted 200 quid MORE than the Zed. After some banter we knocked it down £300. Just ridiculous how much insurance companies are attempting to rip off consumers at the moment.
  21. Mine is a bit more scary, works perfectly fine above quarter a tank, then stops on quarter tank...until I have less than 5 miles in it then it just drops into and past the red and I get all sorts of warnings flashing up at me. I guess something blocks it at quarter tank, so probably needs looking at, I hear getting it out though is a bit of a 'mare? At the moment my solution is just to go to the petrol station as soon as it stalls at a quarter tank!
  22. Awful news mate - my brother is a bike fan and has three of them chained to the ground in a locked/alarmed garage at his parents place. Insurance companies are getting worse and worse, they refuse to pay out citing issues with the event and even if they are in the wrong. There are numerous stories of people being told they wont get paid then going to the media and lo and behold a payout when they are exposed as literally 'taking the pi$$' - for that amount of money, go to a solicitor get the policy looked over - well worth the money. Insurance companies will jump through hoops to not pay you out, its up to you to combat them remember they couldnt care less about what you are going through. As for the police, yeah some good ones, but generally a lot of rubbish out there. Unless they are collecting fines or generally just doing something out of spite they really arent interested in chasing up something difficult like what you described. Whenever I have needed the police, when I had my car stolen and when I was assaulted both times they were utterly useless, I expect little or no help from police whenever problems arise and cannot see that changing in the near future.
