  1. Squirted some Molyslip in but it hasn't made any difference. Any suggestions? What's the next most likely, or cheapest replacement?! My release bearing makes a groan sometimes when cold - related?
  2. It's been a while since your ECU reset. Hows the mpg looking now?
  3. n00b question - how do you perform an ECU reset?
  4. Ah that would have been ironic! you decided on something more economical then? Best I've managed so far in london is 20mpg! I'm looking at moving house closer to work, but also at changing jobs which would involve an hours commute! Taken mine off ebay for the moment until I know what's happening. The new job could afford me a second car Very envious of your drive - nice work area for modding
  5. Was just about to message you letting you know mine is up for sale! Good luck with your new toy
  6. Well it looks like I'm rather unexpectedly having to look at buying a place on my own. My plans until earlier tonight was to move in with a good friend of mine as soon as the house was built. He would own it, and I'd be renting a room. It's been the plan for years. But tonight he told me he has asked his girlfriend to move in instead. I'm gutted. Mixed emotions at this point as it had been on the cards for so long and the house is only about a month away from being finished. So as this is now not possible Ive decided I should really look at buying somewhere myself. I am 28, on "just about decent" money and it's time I got out from under my parents feet. I'd been holding out for the house to be built......but nevermind! I'm looking at some one bedroom flats local to me. They advertise Shared Ownership and First Buy schemes. Can anyone shed any light on this and which would be the preferred one to go with for my first place. I have a girlfriend who could possibly move in with me - however I would not want to buy a place together, and I'm very comfortable being on my own in a flat - I'd probably prefer it to be honest! So she is not likely to contribute towards the mortgage. Any other tips for someone doing this for the first time? I've no idea what have the words and terms mean when browsing property sites!
  7. I did mine after I wasn't happy with ones that I purchased already wrapped. For the drivers side handle I cut a T shaped piece and dropped in in hot , and then wrapped the rest to cover the edges. My advice i to keep it all warm, and don't make cuts to wrap it round anything. Just heat and stretch it and it will go. I'll get some pics up soon.
  8. John, what did the MX5 go for in the end? I'll have to stalk the new owner now to see what he does to it! The Pug I was looking at has sold Looking for something similar still, if anything I need one for the bad weather (I live in a semi-remote area, and moving to a worse one)
  9. BUMP! Still got some strips kicking around!
  10. I thought the inside was black coated? Can it be polished up then?
  11. That's the problem - my commute to work is sub 50mph in traffic - it's not really driving it. in that case you really shouldnt have a 300bhp car as you will constantly be breaking the speedlimit no? The limit is due to traffic not the law.

  13. Welcome to the forums John! (he bought my MX5 off me when I upgraded to the Zed!)
  14. Well I have budgeted £1000, as Lloyds refunded me PPI recently. With this Pug I can buy the car and get insured with money to spare. The Tax and MOT aren't due till next year. I think keeping the Zed off the roads during the bad weather is worth it - plus keeping miles and stone chips to a minimum. I have a good mechanic friend for when things go wrong - and if they do I have the Zed as a backup. Hoping to go and have a good look at it this week.
  15. As winter is on it's way now I've been considering buying a 2nd car to use for the winter and keep the zed safe. Ive seen a Pug 306 2l Turbo Diesel up for £595 with 125k on the clock. It's well within my budget, local, and gets 50+mpg. It's due MOT and tax early in the new year. My other reason for wanting a shed is I'm moving out in a few months time, so I'll be paying MUCH more rent and driving 12 miles to work each day. I'd like to think that using the Pug as my daily will save wear and tear on the zed, plus save money on fuel, and I can reduce my annual mileage on the zed and save money on insurance. Am I thinking straight? Good idea or bad idea?
  16. This looks ace! Never seen it before. It also plays videos from USB devices, which I use the PS3 for at the moment (which is great until the cooling fan kicks in!) I wonder if the keyboard will work with the PS3?
  17. Hi, I'm in Ramsgate, Kent. I can wrap, but only for me. I'm far from an expert and more likely to get it wrong than right. Worth trying it yourself though! Just watch some YouTube videos for guidance
  18. Cut to size and ready to fit with excess to aid fitting and stretching. £10 + 2p&p. Got quite a bit of wrap so there are plenty available! Some pics below (was a bit of a rush job before it rained!) (note: the dead bugs are NOT included in the sale!)
  19. Found some 4 pin HDD power supply connectors in Maplin....will give them a try
  20. Hey all, I'm planning on fitting my refersing camera later this week which means pulling the Pioneer HU out....and then getting it back in. The problem is that the connector for the HU is MASSIVE and getting everything to fit back in is a PITA, it hasn't been right since I swapped out the Bose. I was contemplating removing the huge block and using smaller connectors, in groups of 2, to connect everything back up, and make it easy to stuff the wires into the crevices behind the HU. What connectors would be best for this? I was thinking the type used for remote control car batteries. Thoughts?
  21. To those that are afraid of wrapping - it aint that hard! I can't paint anything well at all, but wrapping seems to have come naturally, and is very manageable if you use the right techniques. If it goes wrong you can just peel it back and start again too - unlike paint. Also, that hexis stuff is absolutely terrible!! 3M is far far better in terms of quality and work-ability. Steer clear of it IMHO.
  22. Mine is covered in tiny chips. Is there a good solution for that? I have some Megs glass cleaner, and some megs metal polish too if that's worth a shot?
