  1. Well I ran quotes for an unmodified car, just to get an idea of the costs from different insurance companies, and mine ranged from £650 to £4000. Directline quoted £1500, which for a major company I thought was ridiculous! Anyways, then going to £742 with all mods declared and covered doesn't seem so bad now looking at some of the horror quotes out there!

  10. That's never going to happen. The V5 is issued by Swansea AFAIK, which is why when changing private plates over at the local offices you always end up with a wait before the V% comes through the door. I was just thinking about getting a receipt to say you've handed in the V5C2 to the DVLA, so you've applied to be the new registered keeper. It would be sent internally and you could get a receipt from them possibly to say they have received it to be sent to Swansea.
  11. Cheers fella! Unfortunately that wasn't an option as Stoke man had filled in the V5C2 form with his details but never bothered to send it off. I asked the DVLA if I could do it at a local office but was told the only way to 'over write' his details would be sending it along with a completed V62 form to Swansea which is what I did. I guess I could have sent it 'internally', getting the local DVLA to send it to Swansea (and getting a receipt from them) but from past experience it's MUCH quicker to send it yourself via Special Delivery. S. True, but I was thinking that even sending it internally, if you got a receipt from the local DVLA along with the car tax and insurance certificate you would be able to get the car released. yeah it'd take longer to receive the actual V5, but if the police would accept a receipt from the DVLA local office, then you'd be all sorted! Anyways, like I said good luck missy!
  12. My dad said that you should have done this... You could have insured the car straight away, just tell them that you are the registered keeper, then get them to send you a copy of your insurance certificate via email then print it. Take that to the Post Office with your V5C2 (green slip) with your details filled in. Then go to your local DVLA office to get physically give them your V5C2 so you can get the car registered in your name and also ask for a receipt of this, so you could show it to the Police. All done in a day, so car would be registered in your name by the end of the day so insurance not invalid. Hope you get it all sorted out!
  13. Got the day off, sorted out my insurance, so now off I go to Farnborough to check up on my house. Anybody around fancy saying hi??? Thought I'd ask, could make a dull boring trip more interesting, if I stopped off somewhere along the way to meet some peeps and drool over some Zeds. Travelling from M25 Juntion 7. Can either go down the A3 then A31, then A331 or just down the M3. Leaving at about 11.45, sorry about the short notice. Lol.
