  1. Ah you star! Thanks Russ that’s a good read I'll look at other things me thinks.. Although I still feel the need to test drive one..
  2. Really ? I heard they did cracker MPG.. That's not great. Its not easy to get a 330i Coupé without the god awful wood affect inside it over here and any you do find tend to be seriously over priced..
  3. I do a LOT of city driving and it takes me 5-10 minutes to get to work so the engine isn't fully warmed up On the motorway I get about 27-30mpg with CC on.. its the city driving that’s killing it at the moment.. Just realised I had put extra urban I meant urban sorry apparently those MK1's are good for up to 40MPG on a run?? Cheers 350 Russ
  4. So the 350z is getting dearer to run on the scale of £500+ a year on road tax.. This week alone with work I've spent £373 on super.. not to mention that insurance is looking like it'll be over a grand which I'm refusing to pay I'm thinking its time to move to something thats cheaper to run. I've been looking around and as much as I love the 197 Clio I want to go for something different. My first 3 cars where Renault Clios with the 4th being a Nissan 350z. This time I want to go VAG.. and I've found a decent looking 2003 Audi TT It has Quattro etc. Has anyone driven these? Whats your opinion? I'm going to book a few test drives but my insurance on the 350z is valid until May so obviously my decision isn't final yet as things may change.. Link to the one I'm looking at is; http://www.usedcarsni.com/104713823 Pros; £270 tax a year instead of £500+ grp 35 £650 insurance a year instead of £1000+ grp 45.. extra urban 30+ mpg instead of <18 mpg.. Quattro instead of rwd in the crap weather.. Toys like the Liquid TT (see here http://www.racediagnostics.com/cms/) Easy to tune Cons; Understeer city apparently Less power / Less torque The pros seem to out weigh the cons so I think my mind is pritty much made depending on how the car drives??

    Belts

Cheers I'll get a look at the pulleys again today
  6. I suppose it could be a lip on the disc that’s wearing quicker on the pad causing it? Did you bed the pads in using the manufactures recommended procedure?

    Belts

Folks I installed a alternator Gates 6PK1173 belt. The belt squeals each time I start the engine quite badly. I thought this was due to me trashing the tensioner so I got a replacement from Alex. This did not stop the squealing. I went and got a 1155 length belt which has worked but the tensioner is nearly fully tightened (I can just flex the belt 90degrees). Anyone any ideas why it would seem my pulleys are a different size than normal? or does anyone have any ideas?
  8. cheers guys couldn't check it this morning as there was about 3-4 inchs of snow on my car grr.. will leave it until I'm going home and check again as Ive brought my oil with me.
  9. ya I checked the oil at 12:00 I arrived in work at 06:45 this morning it was stone cold... The red oil light does not come on but I dont want to let it get that bad in fear of knackering my engine The strange thing is when the car is started from cold it shoots up to 80-90psi as expected which I thought would indicate it was at least getting full pressure... but then again I guess its thicker than so it will be higher *shrug* I'll check before going home thanks and just keep the RPM down until I find out what's happening.
  10. I noticed the morning (being late for work) that going fast round a roundabout the oil pressure dropped to what looked like 10!!! I came out of the corner and it went back to around 30psi. I drove slow to work the whole way thinking that I was low on oil or something. I filled up as I was quite low but still above min on the dip stick. Took it out for a drive and did a few sharp left to right movements whilst only doing 20-30 mph and once again on each turn the oil pressure dropped albeit not as low as before.... also worth noting I'm using 5w 30 oil. What does everyone think? Oil pump problem or is this normal? I've never noticed it before!
  11. I understand Arron but does that person not need a new door? Im all ding for ding but it sounds like you nearly took his door off lol
  12. Cheers Rob sadly I also what this when turning left so ill push that back a little the break thing has more of a metallic sound
  13. I get very pi**ed off too but that’s a little extreme mate! are you 100% sure it was them?? PDR is the way to go I had a massive dent removed from my previous car where a trolley had entered the side of my car at what looked to be high speed! Sadly it was the arse end of Tesco car park but the dent was so big I'm sure someone pushed it in to my car. there was zero wind that eay! The guy that came out even sanded down the paint work slightly with 3000grit wet and dry and polished the car. The dent was impossible to find!
  14. I'm getting a rubbing sound from about 25+ mph. This only lasts for about 30seconds-1minute then disappears.. Almost sounds like a wheel rubbing on the arch liner but I checked and they are no where near.. I've ruled the clutch out as when I dip the clutch or take it out of gear and lift the clutch the noise stays. Does this sound like a wheel bearing or a Diff or something else? Cheers, Adam.
  15. Yes this is actually a thread about a spice rack! Anyway basically as a valentines present my girlfriend said she wanted a spice rack.. Yes she was serious! So we had a look around and the ones we liked where seriously dear.. for example; £68.00 - Large magnetic wall board (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Dilbert-Magnetic-Spice-Rack-Large/dp/B000NPFAWK/ref=sr_1_9?s=kitchen&ie=UTF8&qid=1359218448&sr=1-9) £83.90 - 12 shaker magnetic wall board (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Wall-Board-with-12-Shakers/dp/B0014Z62G6/ref=sr_1_17?s=kitchen&ie=UTF8&qid=1359218448&sr=1-17) £155.00 - 20 shaker magnetic wall board (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Soho-Spice-Rack-pieces-SHS1850004/dp/B000KGETQA/ref=sr_1_20?s=kitchen&ie=UTF8&qid=1359218448&sr=1-20) After having a look around the net it seems theres a simple solution.. http://eats.sefiebee.com/2012/05/ikea-magnetic-spice-rack/ albeit this looks a little... @*!# so I've made a few changes I bought the following; £5.00 8x http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/80102919/ £10.00 1x http://www.ikea.com/au/en/catalog/products/20164076/ If you want to wall mount it you will only be able to mount it from one side in its standard form due to the way the holes are pressed on the back. So.. take a small file and file either side for 5 minutes with the following result; Ok its not tidy but common.. who is going to see it? Once the mounting holes are fixed simply drill 4 holes in the wall, plug and screw then slide the magnetic board to the side.. The end result is Jars come off very easily; The jars don't stick out too far either.. The only possible problem I can see is steam getting in to the jars and causing the spices to harden but that will be easily fixed with a small rubber washer/gasket in the lid causing an airtight seal.. Cost of parts £40 jars £10 magnetic board £0.40p Ikea bag £0.00 4 screws and plugs Total cost for our 24 piece spice rack: £50.40 Obviously she'll be getting something else for valentines day!! Enjoy!

  20. ^ get yourself a 30 meter hose extension for the Karcher and leave it in place in the garage/shed whatever
  21. Sad to say I didnt know mine had heated mirrors until this morning when my rear window was frozen.... *facepalm* on the plus side no more wiping the mirrors on cold mornings
  22. just checked mate looks like the plastic around the bottom night need to come off for the plastic to clear the sill/rubber/interior plastic..
  23. it will come out mate just give it a good hard tug the bottom usually comes out first so you should be able to try and lift the door card up and then pull the bottom out or maybe a long flat screwdriver in a towel to leaver it up? The bottom of the door has pop rivets on it so it would just be a case of getting enough pressure on it.. I'm just trying to remember if the door card hits the sill when closed..
  24. Not a bad price they look like they're in good condition too! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Nissan-350z-Meister-R-True-Coilovers-with-Toe-Arms-/251196046528?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&fits=Model%3A350+Z&hash=item3a7c737cc0 Maybe worth reading post #5 here or the whole thread if interestd in buying them!
