  1. Brillo pad is a good starter if they're not too bad ... then Autosol
  2. Let's see your new LEDs and where are they from
  3. Can anyone please recommend a free download Photoshop type application for the Mac OSX ?
  4. Oh yes I'm glad I've got it and I'm thoroughly enjoying it, especially the 'volante' bit .... the wife doesn't like having the roof down though ... maybe she'll come round when the sun really comes out The only other thing I would have swapped the Zed for would have been a better 350
  5. Big problem for me .... I'm an Engineer not a mechanic lol .... I designed and built my own house (all the trades except plastering) but I wouldn't be able to service a car .... I'm using an AM specialist (rather than my trusted local non specialist) just to keep the service history in order .... I'll be letting the car go next year so it's important that I do it this way
  6. Nice write up just a small point for marking the position of the rear badge I'd use a pen but on masking tape
  7. where you thinking of taking her ?
  8. Is that the same as Firefox 4.0.1 ? that's what I'm using
  9. It was made even better by the fact that the fake present was a night at that hotel.........which was fricking awful! It was like the night of the living dead.......no one was under the age of 50 (and even the 50/60 years olds looked like they were pretty distressed at being there) and they had a Cliff Richard impersonator on who was fully decked out in the Red PVC. I swear at one point he had 3 old boys up to act as the Shadows with him and he was interviewing each of them Cliff (obviously in Cliffs Smashy and Nicey voice) 'So my friend whats your name' Bill 'My naaaames Billlll' Cliff 'Thats beautiful Bill really , yeah yeah. So Bill what are you doing here in this beautiful hotel' Bill 'I've come heerrrreee to diiiiieee. Some body Kiiiiilllll meeeee' Shortly before he keeled over his cardboard guitar and spent the next 2 minutes looking like a poster child for Euthanasia. you've got a way with words Ricey
  10. Thats a quality price. I had my old Merc serviced at Mercedes once - special offer for the bigger of the 2 services £350..........not bad I thought. 10.30 I get a call - ok Mr Rice, we've looked at the car and it needs the spark plugs and air filter changing as well so that will be £600. You also need a new boot on some joint or another and the power steering reservoir is leaking so in total its £950 ] .......errrm. How about feck off - was the response they received. The bloody car was only worth 4k! My own fault for going to Merc though I guess. I've already had the car checked over and MOTd at the garage I always used for the Zed .... that's why I'm hopeful ..... oh and mine's worth a bit more than 4K hopefully lol I do miss the Zed though but I'm glad I sold it; it was way down on oil pressure and was using 1 ltr per 800 miles at the end .... that's why I traded it for the Polo instead of handing it over to someone on here
  11. Yep you gotta get them serviced yearly no matter how many miles you do so it's a bit expensive if you don't get the use .... a bit like the costs for a boat if you don't live near the sea or a lake lol
  12. This is the quote I got from Derby Motor Services Hello sir and thank you for your enquiry, the 5th year service for a DB9 inclusive of Genuine parts, Labour and the vat is £552.77, if you have any queries please let me know Not too bad I thought, I've saved twice that using the Arosa for work instead of the Zed over the last 6 months
  13. DB9 is in for a service next Monday ... hope they don't find anything too expensive
  14. My eldest caught one of two youths trying to steal one of his motor bikes from the garage having being awoken about 2 AM. He made the youth kneel down and then weed on him (he was dying for a pee having been out the night before), told him to F'off and bring his mate back for the same punishment ...... he heard nothing more. On another occasion he was working the doors, and a youth was sick on his car which was parked out front of the pub. It was a cold winter's night and the youth was wearing just a tee shirt. My sons (two of them this time working together) were quite capable of seriously hurting the Guy, but cool ruled .... they made him clean the car with his lovely tee shirt Two bits of Irony there doncha think ? Wish I could do things like that
  15. Australia seems to be doing better than the rest of the developed countries, USA, Europe, etc.; the Oz $ is running at about 1.5 at the moment ..... last year it was 1.75 and the year before that 2.0 to the £ . It's recently overtaken the USA $ which currently stands at 1.64 to the £. My son is in Oz working for Ford as a design engineer, and a few friends have sons/daughters working over there; all doing well after going over during the current recession. The country has lots of resources (uranium, metal ores etc.) and the Chinese want them, so I guess that's why they're doing better than most. If I was a young man again I would certainly look into it. Get your other half on a hairdressing course, they're in big demand too. (no offence to your other half if she doesn't fancy hairdressing)
  16. Tenders are coming in at much lower prices ... most Contractors are buying work just to cover costs ... it's obviously very competitive out there so try to hang on in and wait for good times ....... or go to Oz asap and get set up there
  17. I think it's difficult with a GM ... any colour other than Black or Silver doesn't seem to go for me, and if you go for Black you should keep the rims shiny i.e. deep dish So if they're for go not show I'd stick to silver .......... so that's what gets my vote IMO of course
