  1. I got 32 mpg when I picked her up in York and had to drive back to Oxford in a mixture of really heavy rain (so you had to take it easy) and the M1 roadworks. I've since gone through 3 tank fulls on day to day driving to/from work and all three have given beween 27.8 and 28.0 mpg. No real chnace to put the foot down on the 15 mile journey though
  2. Any chance of a batch in Sunset Orange?
  3. Damn statisticians ruining the country yet again. There are 3 types of statistics; lies, more lies and damn lies But more seriously, you need to find a company with a more reasonable attitude to no fault incidents. Over a number of years driving a couple of 300ZX TTs I had: - Removal van hit side of car while parked in a legitimate parking bay in the office car park. Fortunately a witness came and fetched me. - Pillock in a Sierra drove into the back of me when I stopped at a red ligh guarded by a camera. "I thought you were going to just nip through", he said. I must have looked happy because he locked himself in the car and threatened to call the police if I hit him . - 17 year old trying to impress his mates in mum and dads car tried to take a sharp corener that was several inches deep in water at over 50 mph. Not surprisingly he lost control and slammed into the side of me coming the other way. While we sorted out the details his parents came along and had the audacity to suggest it might have been my fault at which point I offered to call the police to sort it out unless they admitted liability. Sorted that one out pretty quickly - Pillock in a Cavlier drove into the back of me at a roundabout when he was admiring the classic Aston Martin going around it insteady of looking where he was going. The key issue was that clearly none of these where my fault. The broker Lifesure arranged insurance for me with NIG who had no problem at all with no fault, full recovery claims. For the couple of incidents while I was insured with them, they contacted me to say that because the incidents were clearly not my fault that the excess would be waived and that they would recover the full amount from the third party . The UK should adopt the same policy as Canada (Alberta) in which it is illegal for an insurer to penalise you for no fault incidents. Another good point about NIG is that I left the UK for 4 years, effectively losing my no claims discount. They were the second cheapest quote I managed to get (Sky were about 10% cheaper), but what swung it for me was that they were willing to continue the lifetime protected no claims bonus that I had prior to leaving the UK
  4. Don't sell it, you'll be back in a couple of years
  5. Could one of the mods let me have the black circle disount count if its still available ?
  6. I've never fully understood the speed ratings. Reading the handbook it looks like we should use W for the speed specification, but the Falken 452s are Y. Is this better or worse?
  7. Why couldn't you have put this poll up 6 days ago. I wouldn't have been in the last group :scare You wouldn't beleive it from the conents of my CD changer though, I'll always be the frsutrated rock god Some of you younger Zeders shouldn't feel to bad about your insurance. For the unforgivable crime of working in Canada for the previous 4 years I get royaly shafted with insurance. We really need a shafted emoticon
  8. 1. Nightwish - End Of An Era Disk 1 2. Nightwish - End Of An Era Disk 2 3. Lacuna Coil - Comalies 4. Rammstein - Volkerball 5. Within Temptation - Mother Earth 6. Shinedown - Sound Of Madness 240W of Bose goodness is killing my ears
  9. I'll claim that I was still admiring the guages. I promise to wave in future.
  10. Yes, it was me. Not so sure about looking cool though. Think my face had become the same colour as the Zed due to a the frustration caused by a combination of that traffic jam and the weather meaning I couldn't let her rip. I must be going blind though, I'm sure I should have noticed another Sunset Zed because its my favorite colour And apologies to Kev and his frends. I'm pretty sure I must have sent them crazy with my attempts to get the blue tooth adapter working with the voice recognition over the past couple of days. It kept dialing numbers that certainly weren't what I intended All sorted now, I hope
  11. You get a certain amount of sympathy from me as long as it wasn't in a built up area. I got my Zed yesterday and how you keep to the speed limit on a motorway without gluing your eyes to the speedo instead of the road is quite beyond me. The drive is so amazing that you just don't realize how fast you are going . I have a horrible feeling that 25 years free of points free driving is not going to last much longer. Looks like its time to buy a GPS camera locator, anyone have any recommendations? Nearest I ever came to a run in the law over my speed was in Canada a couple of years ago. I was driving like a bat out of hell through some unmanned roadworks on a highway to get my German Shepherd to the emergency vet when his spleen ruptured and was stopped at two and a half times the speed limit. Fortunately the cop was a dog lover and just asked me to slow down
  12. Only suggested this one because it is the same colour as the S2000-4u. Don't be put off by how bland the orange looks when its overcast. It looks sepctacular in bright sunlight. Perhaps I'm biased, but as long as it passes inspection I'm picking up my new (well, its a 55) Sunset Orange GT on Saturday Can't wait
  13. I had a friend who lives around the corner from S200-4u go and ask them a few questions on my behalf about the 350Zs. To say they showed a lack of interest was an understatement. Tried to imply that most people buy over the phone without a test drive. I tried contacting them by eMail to see if they would let me test drive with my Canadian license (legal for 3 months in the UK) and they never bothered to reply. Their online stock list is a joke, and I think that the one you looked at is long gone, although I can't be certain. Last time I looked at the stock list they had 5 but in fact they only had 1. Have you looked at this since its probably reasanbly near you. Seems supiciously cheap for the mileage but they may just be trying to get rid of a trade in quickly. http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/sales/1154530.htm
  14. Is there a standard ODB-II port anywhere? I have a code reader that I used to use with mu old Subaru and I'd hate it to be redundant now.
  15. This internet trading lark is full of dubious types. When I advertised my Subaru on the Canadian AutoTrader site I had eMails from people offering to buy the car from me without even seeing it as long I gave them my payment details. Surely noone is that dumb
  16. Well, friend went to see them on Tuesday and he has never met anyone with less enthusiasm for a sale. Mentioned that I could be interested at looking at them and having a test drive over the weekend and got "These cars are so popular that most people buy them over the phone without viewing them first". If that's the case then And their stock list is a load of crap. 4 or 5 on their web site and 1 in stock.
  17. What's the catch with this one? It's suspiciously cheap for the mileage.
  18. Thanks for the comments guys. I've heard about their reluctance to give test drive. Fat chance of them getting a penny from me without driving it first. I've a good friend who lives just around the corner from them who is going to case the joint this week as well as canvasing opinions from the local garages in the area that he has used in the past. If only one of the members was selling what I'm looking for.

    UK Spec GT

Looking for an unmodified UK spec with the GT trim, definitely less than 50k miles and ideally less that 40k . I'm just not interested in an import, probably an age thing since I'm relatively a bit of an old fart just about to start a late mid life crisis If you've got one with the beautiful orange leather then you can probably have my first born as well I'm looking for a well looked after example rather than cheap. Probably willing to pay around 13k or possibly a bit more for the right car. Definitely not interested in anything that has been pranged and repaired. Perhaps a little harsh, but if anyone offers me a pranged car and I travel a long distance to come and see it, it will probably need more body work when I throw a fit
  20. I'm currently looking for a UK GT spec and have found an independent dealer in 4 Marks, Hampshire that appears to have a number in stock at pretty close to the Parkers guide prices. Does anyone have any experience of these guys. The last think that I want is to be ripped off by a group of sharks. Found one internet site that was less than glowing about them, but you probably never get the full storey.
  21. I had 7 years protected no claims before moving abroad and 4 years local no claims history while living abroad. This is all fully documented. I'm peeved becasue even the Canadians who are notorious for gouging you for every penny that they can when it comes to insurance, took into account "foreign" no claims expereince.
  22. Can anyone recommend a good broker who can cope with non standard circumstances. I tried Chris Knott and they can't help me because I've had the audacity to live abroad and be accident free in a country where you drive on sheet ice and snow for several months each year. I appreciate them trying, but I'm peeved that with 25 years experience including many years of driving performance Zeds and never a speeding ticket, I too high a risk
  23. To cut a long storey short, I'm coming back to the UK in just over a month after 4 years in the land of snow and ice and am getting the urge to get a 350Z. Before leaving the UK I had a pair of 300ZX twin Turbos that I sadly had to get rid of, but I still have the performance Nissan bug and since most 300ZXs are now getting a little log in the tooth and I can't afford one of the new GTRs it seems like a 350Z could be fun. I've been looking at the Autotrader web site for a few months and there appears to be plenty available, although many are imports. Can anyone recommend a dealer of used models that's not too far ffrom Oxford? I'm a little wary of just putting a pin on the page, so to speak. Given that I'm going to probably have a hell of a time getting insurance anyway, despite a previous clean UK insurance history, and 4 years hopefully without accidents in Canada, I suppose I'd better keep away from any modified cars and private sales are a problem because I initially won't have valid UK 3rd party insurance to do a test driv.
