  1. Cheers, it worked. Must have been a bad connection, bluetooth is working properly again
  2. My bluetooth coonection has been a bit erratic recently so i thought I check that the module was properly plugged into the craddle. Big mistake, it came out but I just can't get it back in. Perhaps I'm having a dumb day, but there is a big black plastic lump on the cradle that appears to obstruct it from going back in. What's the trick?
  3. The rear end of mine has a mind of it own at the moment. Off to Tescos for another bulk back of underpants on the way home tonight. If I had the choice it would not be leaving my driveway again until ALL the snow and ice has melted, but unfortunately its the only option for getting to work. 3 1/2 hours for a 30 mile journey this morning. At one stage I had the ignomy of needing to be pushed
  4. I'm sort of dreading the day the snow falls. Only had her a few months and only have a rough idea what to expect from past experiences with a 300 Twin Turbo and those were not good. On one occasion I slowely reversed out of my driveway planned to just swing 90 degrees into the road. She had other ideas and insisted on 270 degrees On another I was crawling down a steepish hill and when I tried to stop from about 5 mph, 30 yards or so from the bottom, she insisted on sliding to the bottom and into the A40. Fortunately the weather was so bad that noone was coming along the A40. I may yet be yearning for AWD. Just had 4 Winters living in Canada and had grown to find driving on the snow and ice quite fun, but I suppose the AWD of my Subaru (spits) was cheating
  5. Unfortunately I probably gave a bad description of the problem. The key fob only unlocks the boot. But once I had unlocked it you could only get it to open by a couple of millimeters when you pressed the button to open it. It felt like it was still latched onto something
  6. Something was definitely amiss with mine this morning. Double clicked the remote and the boot only partially unlanched and the passenger door wouldn't unlock at all. Tries several times without luck. Worked perfectly again after a 30 minute drive to work.
  7. The new Falkens have made some difference but still a touch on the noisy side. The problem is that when She Who Must Be Obeyed is talking to me from the passneger seat, I get the Dirty Looks if I don't hear her properly So may try some dynamat

    MPG?

I must be real old fart. I get 30ish on motorways and about 26 for my daily commute which includes the odd bit of heavy right foot. Have seen it as low as 21 when having more dun at weekends, but 14 sounds eyewateringly painful unless you treat the gas peddle as an on/off switch.
  9. Cheers Guys.Fingers crossed for the journey home tomorrow
  10. Anyone else find the road noise a touch annoying? I love the sound of the engine for the more spirited trips, but commuting on the A420 is starting to become a little trying. May be related to worn tyres, having new Falkens fitted all round tomorrow. Perhaps should have gone more high end but had a moment of tightness because we are in the process of buying a house at the moment. Has anyone fitted any sort of aftermarket sound deadening?
  11. UK definitely holds 80l, I put 79 litres in a few weeks ago. Talk about cutting it fine.
  12. That's dogs for you. Several years ago we had to beat a hasty retreat from a pub when we noticed that our German Shepherd had chewed away a large part of a brick fireplace leaving just a pile of red dust
  13. Cool, so it is now dumb question time If the procedure fails for whatever reason do you get a chance to repeat it, or does the car then get towed to Nissan? Do you have to register your original key, or can you tuck that away somewhere out of range?
  14. Only got 1 key plus the valet key with the car so thought that I'd get a spare. Walk into local Nissan dealership whereupon the guy behind the the desk shakes his head in an all knowing manner and says "They are hellish expensive, about £160, and we may need you car for about an hour". Surely there must be some alternative. (Where is that clutching at straws smiley?)
  15. Good tip about using the needle guys. Previous attempts on other cars using the brush have always been a bit of a disaster Before I bite the bullet, anyone used a Sunset touch pencil?
  16. There used to be a set of custom uggage available. ANyone know if you can still get it?
  17. Don't get me wrong, I realise that these types of repair are never going to be as good as a complete panel respray by a good body shop, but I was having a "what the hell" moment". The chips aren't bad enough to justfy a bodyshop at the moment although the 3 small scratches from an "oh crap" moment when I heard the bang on the way to work last week are slightly more visible but I think that I'll wait until a get a few parking dinks before I splash out.
  18. Just spoke to a Chips Away guy in the local Sainbury car park to ask him how much it would cost to fix a couple of stone ships that have been getting on my nerves. Was surprised by 2 things they said: - We should really be call "Scrapes Away". We don't do stone chips. - We only do the silver and blue 350Zs. Too hard to get a color match (mine is Sunset). Is this true, or did I just get a guy who is "a bit inexperienced" to put it politely as possible?

    mpg??

I do about the same daily mileage on A roads at the moment. I try to be gentle with the "Go" pedal when commuting so see between 26 and 29 mpg. Weekends are another thing
  20. When I bought my 55 plate 2005 Zed on 33k miles a month or so ago, I used the Parkers guide to get the price corrected for extras and mileage. Ended up paying 13.5k for her which was a couple of hundred less than the book price for a private sale in very good condition. Perhaps a couple of small stone chips as the only faults. At then end of the day I had a good feeling about the car and paid a mechanic to give it a full inspection including all the bodywork and underbody which she passed with flying colours. So one very happy bunny at that price. Sound like 14k seems a little high but 13.5k should be in the right ball park. Wave the Parkers guid pricing under their nose to see if they bite. Howver, if you find a good one it could be worth paying that little bit extra rather than paying hundreds if not thousands to fix the results of a badly treated car further down the line.

    Ouch

Driving to work on the A420 this morning went around a bend and there was what looked like a dead fox right in the middle of the road. Heavy traffic coming the other way so couldn't swerve and hot hatch boy so close to my rear bumper that if I has slammed on the brakes I would been rear ended. So gritted by teeth and prayed. There was a loudish klunk as I went over there top and I had a horrible feeling I was going to either find the black plastic strip underneath ripped off or see a horrible dent underneath the car when I arrived at the office. Well, the good news is that appart from one or two hairs stuck to the black plastic there does not appear to have been any damage. I have never had a chance to look at the full under body of the car, so perhaps a dumb question, but are then any exposed wires/cables or hoses that could have been damaged/dislodged. No warning lights or anything, but I don't want a shock in a few days.
  22. OK guys, I gone over and over all the posts in this section so many time that my head hurts. My problem is that I'm going to be doing a lot of mileage (20k or so per year) and as much as the Falken 452s seem like like good value for the grip and handling that they give, I can't cope with the thought of changing them twice a year. So, does anyone have any recommendations for a tire that offers a good combination of performance and durability?
  23. I always park in the empy location as far away from the entrance as possible. Being a touch cuddly I get a sense of satisfaction with the walk But every time I come back, some **** is always parked in the bay next to mine even if the rest of the sodding car park is empty. Really pisses me off big time.
  24. Cheers guys, I sort of suspected that there might be a problem. Would have been nice to find a loophole.
  25. I had a personalised number plate with a 3D font on the plates made and put on my old 300 Twin Turbo back in 1999 and I'm wondering if I can put these on my 350Z now that the old 300 has gone to the great motorway in the sky. The DVLA talks about pre 2001 plates but in some palces it mentions the plates being made before this date and in others in mentions the plates being put on the car before this date. So, can I or can't I reuse them without fear of attracting attention from plod. The shape of the font is the same, but the letters are just a tad smaller than the standard and although black, the letters have a subtle 3D effect.
