    MOT

Coming from an MR2 background, I always used to dread MOT time. The Z went in the other month, the place I use collects and delivers the car back. I heard nothing for a couple of hours, then back he came with a single slip of paper. No advisories, happy times!!
  2. Cheers for those mate, I've already looked through the workshop manual almost front to back looking for clues. That section is handy, but is really quite vague as to what they mean by each sound...a 'tap' may be a 'knock' to other people!! Considering there was (somewhere) a TSB about the fuel dampers making a knocking sound, and mine is pulsing...I think I may have found the cause?? I can't remember where I saw the TSB though!! http://www.350z-tech.com/zwiki/Category:TSB Haha, nice one mate...you're doing well tonight!! I can't find a mention of this in those TSBs. Reading this thread linky, he does mention there was a TSB on it. I'll keep searching!! Did you manage find anything by any chance... i have the same noise Flywheel!! These dual mass flys have a habit of developing a bit of movement which makes a knocking noise at idle. Allegedly they have the same on transit vans, and most mechanics modify them to work with a single plate fly when they need replacing. Nothing to worry about, just change it when the noise gets unbearable or it starts to affect the drive. Mine's getting on for 45k, so although it doesn't need it yet I'll soon be popping in a new fly and clutch. I'll make sure I get a single plate lightweight flywheel though, these dual mass ones are rubbish!!
  3. Bump again! Now lowering the price to £11,500 ONO. It's costing me a fair bit every month to keep on the road and in advertising fees, so I'd be happy to discuss any offers for a quicker sale. Cheers!
  4. Ok guys....little Zebedee passed the MOT with no problems and no advisories!! It now has a year's MOT. In fact, it's just over 12 months as it will run until 24 Sept 2011. Again, I'm going to lower the price...this time to £12,250 ono. Please feel free to make contact if you're interested or to discuss the price.
  5. Bump...reduced to £12,995 ono. Will be MOT'd asap!!
  6. Now also on Pistonheads: http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/1971673.htm
  7. As much as it pains me to do so, my 350Z is up for sale… I have a genuine reason for selling, I have separated from the ex girlfriend and need to sell to raise enough cash to buy her out of our mortgage. I am going to miss the Z like mad, but sadly needs must!! Firstly I’ll run through the basic details: The car is a UK GT model in Blade Silver. First date of registration is 06/12/2005…apart from a few ‘06’ plates which were registered before March ’06, this is one of the newest Zeds you can get which don’t fall into the higher tax bracket. Tax is £245/year, rather than paying almost double that for an 06+ model. This model has all the standard GT spec gadgets, with the exception of a factory sat nav. 18†Rays Forged Wheels Brembo Brakes. Heated driver & passenger seats. Electric driver & passenger seats. Air conditioning (Working very well). Cruise control. Bluetooth controls and cradle. (Bluetooth adapter is required to work). The car is taxed until 30/06/2011. MOT runs out on 23/09/2010…I will be getting the car MOT’d shortly after 22/08/2010. Current mileage is just over 42,000miles. The car has full Nissan service history, with the exception of the last service. This was only a simple P1 service, so I took the car to a local trustworthy garage. Nissan P1 Service @ 9,137 Miles Nissan P2 Service @ 16,595 Miles Nissan P1 Service @ 24,863 Miles Nissan P3 Service @ 33,496 Miles P1 Service @ 41,151 Miles The car is virtually standard with the exception of the following: 20mm Eibach hubcentric spacers on the front. 25mm Eibach hubcentric spacers on the rear. Carbon vinyl wrapped rear strut brace cover. I have also just replaced all the tyres with Falken FK452s. They’ve literally only seen a few hundred miles since they were fitted. Spark plugs have also just been changed with some Iridium plugs from ZMANALEX. Brake pads were changed just before I took ownership of the car at the beginning of this year. Ferodo pads were fitted. The car has been very well cared for, but as with all cars there are the odd scratches. The front end bears the usual array of small stone chips found on these cars, there are a few other blemishes shown in the photos below. Coincidentally these all fall on panels which would be replaced/repainted if fitting a body kit, it was my intention to fit a Nismo kit but unfortunately plans have been scuppered! The only other fault with the car is that the flywheel makes a very faint rattle at warm idle. I took the car to one garage, who said he couldn’t hear a noise at all (making me feel I was being paranoid!)…then took the car to CS in Leicester as they know Zeds like the backs of their hands. There we had the car out for a test drive and up on the ramps, and a quick diagnosis was made that the noise was coming from the bell housing and is a typical noise that these dual mass flywheels make when they are starting to wear a little. The guys there even talked themselves out of some business and assured me that they had heard much worse and that the fly had plenty of life in it yet. So, I am selling the car as it is, so that the new owner can make the decision of what flywheel to get when it comes to it (probably will be about when you'd be ready to change the clutch anyway); another dual mass fly or a lightweight fly…the noise is so faint I doubt anyone coming to test drive would even notice it but I believe it is best to be honest and upfront about these things. The car drives so nicely, with no cabin rattles and no suspension noises. Pulls very well in all gears, the torque in 3rd and 4th is addictive! The car is up for sale at £11,500 ONO...was previously £13,500 ONO. Please contact me with any questions you may have either post on here, send a PM or: Email: martinwraight@hotmail.com Mobile: 07531 610892 (Please leave a message if you can’t reach me). I will require proof of insurance before I let you behind the wheel on a test drive, and FYI I am located in Bingham, Nottinghamshire. Now for some pics: Rays are in very good condition: Brand new Falken 452s all round: Long tax…until end of June 2011: Clean boot with carpet covered MDF divider: Carbon vinyl wrapped strut brace cover: A few scrapes and scratches by the previous owner: Aux belt showing signs of wear, I have new belts to be included in the sale:
  8. I'm too honest!! You can actually only hear anything with windows closed and air con off...I was starting to think I was imagining it as I had a few people take a look and not hear anything!!
  9. That was what I was planning on...but the noise is so slight that it didn't give them cause for immediate concern. I've got two options really, advertise it anyway and be honest about the noise...or get it fixed and advertise it for more £££. Either way, I don't think CS would talk themselves out of work unless there really wasn't an immediate problem.
  10. Just a quick post to say cheers to the guys at CS. Mitz and Andy took the time on Saturday to have a listen to my Z as my paranoia about the faint knocking sound I have been hearing was driving me nuts!! Andy took me out for a quick spin, and had a good listen from inside the car and underneath on the 4-poster. It turns out the sound is coming from the bell housing as I thought, and bears all the characteristics of flywheel clatter (once I could get it to make the sound!!). From test driving Andy said the clutch feels really good compared to some Zeds he's driven and that the clattering sound is so slight that he'd not worry about changing the fly yet as it has plenty of life still in it. Good to hear, and certainly put my mind at rest!! Big thanks to the guys for taking the time out to help a fellow Zedder!! Unfortunately I now have to put the car up for sale, so I'll be getting some nice pics in the next few days and popping an ad up...sad times!!
  11. +1 I was just about to say the same thing ... Cheers guys...I've PMd them...wasn't sure if they just sold parts!!
  12. Hi all, I've been chatting through my mystery knocking sound with Mark from Abbey... all signs seem to be pointing to the flywheel. Mine has been knocking for some time, and every day the clutch has been feeling more snatchy than usual. Unfortunately Abbey is a long way away for me to travel with a dicky clutch, are there any good Zed specialists in the Nottingham area who would be able to take a look at the car, have a test drive and hopefully diagnose the problem?? The Zed will be up for sale soon, just need to get this issue cleared up!!
  13. Slow people driving a ZED - worrying!! Maybe he's had a detune of the car to save on fuel.... More like he's had a detune of the brain...maybe Abbey could do a re-flash!
  14. Haaha...gotta love slow people...
  15. I used my Z to visit a client the other month, rather than using the pool cars at work as it was on my way to work. The guy (in his early 50s)was all over it, then took me to have a look at his cars and tell me about the Porsches and fancy cars he owned in his younger years. I was only there to measure one elevation of his house and ended up chatting cars for a couple of hours! Regarding the 370Zs...my boss has a 355 as a daily toy and has just chopped his Quattreporte in for a Softop XK, and has a very interesting history of cars. He went with a friend to look at the 370Z and was taken aback by how nice the car was and the quality of the interior. He said it made his 355 look like a poorly put together toy car and would rather have the Z.
  16. I see myself keeping this one for another couple of years... If I was looking for an everyday car, I'd imagine a 370Z would fit the bill quite nicely. I'd be more tempted to get myself something really cheap and eco friendly for a daily driver like and Aygo or iQ, but have an R35, Exige, 911 or similarly lairy beast tucked away for weekend abuse.

    New Shoes

Criminal?? That's sacrilege!! You should work out a deal with someone for a nice set of Rays

    New Shoes

Looks niiice!! Great choice of size & offset there... So are the old wheels up for sale?
  19. From my research a few months back, I would probably opt for the K&N Typhoon Induction Kit. You get a polished intake pipe (colours available), cold air box with scoop from the bumper and carbon fibre lid...plus the filter itself. All for just over £200. I've still not got round to getting one yet, and might just opt for a simple drop-in filter.
  20. Mine came out as around £10k if I remember rightly...55 plate Blade on 38k at the time... Managed to get about £700 back for the ex's completely knackered Ford Ka through them...took the money and ran
  21. Hate to be critical, but we aren't all meant to like the same things!! I personally thing this may look good on a black Z, but I don't think I'd have ever thought of doing this on a silver one...not my cup of tea
  22. While I was in the other day picking up a replacement wheel nut key, I heard the girl on parts talking to someone on the phone...that was enough for me to realise that without an actual part number I'd be in big trouble!!
  23. LEGEND!! That site's going in my favourites...cheers for that!
  24. Anyone know from past experience, or know where to find the part number for this part (and the o-ring)? Inevitably I'll end up phoning Nissan and spending an hour explaining the part needed, only for them to order me the wrong part...but I'm trying to avoid that Or if anyone knows an alternative source for parts like this?
