  1. I have also noticed a grey/silver 350z in the car park next to my offices car park, in Cadogan Square, Glasgow. Don't know if it was a visitor to one of the offices or if the person works there as never noticed it before.
  2. Seen a Kuro Black 350Z go up the on ramp to the Kingston bridge from the Clydeside Expressway this morning just before 8am.
  3. My little computer says my average MPG is 26.7 and average speed is 31.4MPH. Is this what you guys base your MPG on or are you measuring it manually, miles to fuel?
  4. I got an exact same size dent on my drivers door, 2 days after buying the car. Took it to one dent removal company who said the metal was stretched so unsuitable for paintless repair. Got a mobile company out and he said he might not get it all out but will see how it goes, result was I can't even tell where the dent used to be. Amazing job he done. But that was a mobile company in Central Scotland so not much help I am afraid, just letting you know if someone says it can't be done get another opinion.

    Bridgestones

Was out and about yesterday, parked at far side of car park to go into McDonalds, came back out and when I got in car a bunch of neds in their escort pulled up pointing down at my drivers side front wheel, I put the window down and they said your tyre is flat, I got out and it didn't seem too bad, so I said it's just a lower profile tyre than the back tyre. So I pulled out and they came out behind me, the get swerved out to my left and then back upside me as I was crawling over the speedbumps, he is shouting out the window that it wasn't the same as the other side. So I went straight into the petrol station and put on the pump, it only had 9psi in it. Blew it up and drove about half a mile, got out the car and could hear the tyre hissing. Bugger. With it being a bank holiday the guy I usually get cracking deals from was closed so had no option but to go into Kwik Fit. He showed me the inside edge of the tyre was split, he could pull black a flap in the edge of the tyre and the air was gushing out He said it's the tracking that must be out as only the inside edge is worn completely, looked at passenger side and the inside edge was slightly more worn then outside, so decided to put two new tyres on. Only choices were Bridgestone, Continentals or something else I can't remember. So decided on the Bridgestones, got the tracking done as well and cost me £354 for the privilege... The car had Bridgestones on the back and Goodyear Eagle F1's on the front, don't know if it's me but the roadnoise does seem louder now with these front tyres. I asked for the Eagles but they only stocked them up to 16". So an expensive day out yesterday...
  6. When I got my Z I was in Halfords to get a new front number plate as the original one was bit grubby, while I was waiting I wandered round at the tax disc holders and seen a ripspeed one that has diamond like jewels so thought I would get in the good books and buy the missus it since I never told her I was buying the Z and just turned up with it one Saturday Then I seen the Ripspeed Carbon Fibre tax disc holder, cost me £18 but it looks really good in the black Zed, albeit from outside Only thing I don't like is the stupid idea of little torx holding the backing plate on so you daren't lose the little allen key they supply....
  7. That is outrageous, if I seen that I would be right over whether it was my car or not and taking her registration. A year or two ago I had parked my Saab 95 in the car park at Springfield Quay while me an the missus were in Frankie and Bennies for some grub, came out and a security guard approached us as we were about to get in the car, he said he watched a woman drive down the side of my car. She went to reverse out to go park somewhere else and he confronted her, took all her details down and gave them to me. So I took pictures with my camera phone of both my car and hers, there was red paint streaks up with side of my car, luckily they polished right out and no damage was done but I still got £250 off her to pay for 'damages'. If only more people done what that security guard done these people wouldn't get away with it. A couple of weeks later I dropped a nice bottle of malt off to the guy to say thanks.
  8. Very nice car, I bought my black 54 plate from a dealer in Bangor. Brilliant driving it all the way back to Glasgow, although my arse was making buttons on the ferry coming back over, just wanted to get back in the seat to experience it all over again
  9. Like everyone else when I need to go to the supermarket I either park very far away where no cars are or find the section where the cars are parked in a line, nose to tail, no chance of a door catching you then... I remember reading in the paper a guy who stayed near Loch Lomond who flew out to the Lambo factory when he ordered his Murcielago, when he took delivery of the car he was that frightened of leaving it parked in Glasgow when he was in the town that he ended up trading it in with the Audi dealership to get an A8, he said he was very impressed with the A8 as that's what Lambo picked him up at the airport with to take him to the factory and back. Remember the quote from the dealer saying he called his boss who was on holiday that he wanted to trade in the Murci and his boss told him under no circumstances could he sell the Murci until he returned as he wanted a shot in it
  10. I was coming home tonight and a 58 plate Mini Cooper S tried to pull away from me at set of lights so I dropped a gear and came right up behind him. Came to next set of lights and I was going right which goes on to an Industrial area street which is miles long and straight (South Street for any of the Glasgow users), I think he seen me indicate and thought he would be smart and go the same way. When he got onto the straight after a 90 degree left hand turn he booted it, but I was sitting in 2nd and was stuck to his bumper right thru the gears till 4th and then I had to take my foot off a bit or go right over the top of him. Was very impressed with the acceleration as I know these Mini Cooper S's are quite quick off the mark as pretty light etc. He started braking and indicated to go left as he obviously went out his way to try and race me, bet he was raging that he bothered
  11. In my previous car (52 plate Saab 95 Aero) I had a tape converter to plug into the Ipod and also the Kingston FM Adapter. The problem with the FM adapters is that when your driving you sometimes run into an area where the frequency you are using overlaps with a local broadcast and therefore this leads to static etc and ruins the sound quality. But the difference in quality when going from the tape scenario to the FM scenario was immediately apparent with the FM giving a louder and clearer signal. Now with my 350z, the car already had a tape converter in the cubby hole which the previous owner obviously left behind, now when I move between them the tape converter is a LOT better quality than the FM adapter..... I am just wondering if the previous owner had bought a good quality tape converter as I think mines was bought by my girlfriend out of poundland.... But the sound quality I am currently getting thru this tape deck is absolutely superb. So either the converter is much better than my old one or the Bose tape deck is a million times better than the Saab unit.
  12. The dent in my door was the size as if a golf ball had hit it. I took the car to Denttec in Rutherglen and the guy said the metal was stretched so would be a repair and paint job at cost of approx £180 plus VAT. So I done another search and found SLDent Repair, a remote guy from Hamilton. He came out this morning to my home, spent about 25-30 minutes on the dent, he said at the start that there is a little stretch at centre of dent but should get most of it out. When he was finished I can no longer see where the dent was so I would highly recommend him for any of the Scottish guys on here. He took £60 as it was a cash deal. His site is http://www.sldentrepair.co.uk
  13. Well that's 1 full week of ownership and I still try to find any lame excuse I can to drive to the shops or anywhere at all. As soon as you turn that key and here the little growl it gives on startup is possibly the best sound I have ever heard. The missus only started talking to me on Thursday since I never told her I was buying it until I was leaving to catch a flight to Belfast last Saturday What I am still getting use to is how high a gear you can comfortably sit in at very low speeds and still have acceleration easily available, I find myself sitting in 4th crawling round a roundabout very easily, I very rarely use 2nd, go straight from 1st to 3rd when in absolutely no hurry. Sitting in 6th at 40mph and you can still pull away when required, this is amazing. After a full week after resetting the computer it still shows an average of 27MPG and an average MPH of 29. On the other side of the coin was coming up a long slip road and had just gone into 6th when sitting at around 55-60 and guy was in inside lane just behind me, but the tw@t decided to speed up so I would need to brake and get in behind him, so dropped into 3rd and floored it, by the time I was going into 5th he was a mere spec on horizon in my rear view mirror, you don't realise until you look at the speedo what kind of speed it has taken you to..... millions of
  14. Can anyone recommend a dent removal company anywhere near Glasgow. Some **** has put a small dent in my drivers door, right above the crease in the door too, which could only be a 4x4 or something as it's that high. Only got the car on Saturday and anytime I have been to Asda etc I am parking miles away so not near anyone too, absolutely paranoid about it due to just getting it.....gutted.
  15. Created a photobucket account and uploaded a couple more pics. First thing to sort is a front number plate as it's a bit tatty. I take it these are just held on with sticky pads? As there are no connectors like screws etc on the plate itself, so I just pull it off? http://s596.photobucket.com/albums/tt43/maxiglasgow/
  16. Was looking thru the logbook as went to the DVLA office in Glasgow yesterday as need to reregister it due to it coming from Northern Ireland as they have their own DVLNI. It was a September 04 model so it's actually a 54 plate. So I reckon it was even more of a bargain, 54 plate black GT with 48k miles, £9,995. FSH. And to think I was so close to buying the first one I seen, same year and colour in a small car dealer in Glasgow for £11,495.
  17. Think your right about the petrol, woke up at 6.45 this morning just thinking about going round to the shops just so I could drive it again.... Big bonus when I left the garage yesterday, called my insurance company (Admiral) as my renewal for my Saab 95 Aero was actually yesterday anyway to tell them of my purchase and my insurance has only went up £20 for the year....Couldn't believe it. Took it to £510 but that's with lots of extras like breakdown cover etc.
  18. Well travelled over to Northern Ireland this morning and bought the GT. What a trip back home, still loving the sound of it...and to top it all off came thru the Clyde tunnel, dropped it into 3rd and put the foot down. That has to be the best sound I have ever heard in a tunnel in my life Car is an 04 plate in black, has parking sensors and folding mirrors and in great condition so was chuffed to bits. Still loving it when everyone is turning their heads to watch me drive past or looking in on the motorway when I am just cruising and they are going past.... Will try and get some pics and post them up tomorrow. Another bonus is with the Irish plate it looks like a private registration.
  19. Right that's it. I'm all excited like a kid on Christmas Eve now as I have just found a car in Northern Ireland just outside of Belfast. It's a black GT with an added extra of the parking sensors which I was hoping for but haven't seen on many GT's. It's an 04 plate with 40 odd thousand miles with full service history and they say it is immaculate. Just some scratches on two front wheels due to curbing which I think I have seen on ever 350Z I look at. They put it up last night for £9,995 and I phoned and said I would fly over tomorrow and they agreed to pick me up etc. I was out the office for most of the morning, came back in and looked up the advert again and it was put up to £10,995. I just called him and he said their phone was ringing off the hook but since I phoned this morning they would honour the original price, especially since I am paying cash..... So flying over from Glasgow to Belfast in the morning and coming back on the Ferry if all is ok.. I'll not sleep a wink tonight, I was wondering if there are any 350z owners in the Glasgow area would do me a favour and if free at any point tonight could let me hear their car and feel the ride so I know everything is ok when I go to see this one. I might think that's just what the car is supposed to be like and its a dog... meant to add my mobile number since I might not be online 07974 229 609, just drop me a text if you can help me out.
  20. I am looking to purchase a 350Z at the end of the month and I see quite a lot in my price range which are between 40-49k in miles and was wondering if there is by any chance a large service due around the 50k mark? I think I read somewhere about one of the services includes a timing belt or chain replacement which I presume will not be cheap. Any details would be helpful, especially when haggling over price
  21. I will be purchasing a car at the end of the month so was doing more searches last night and was wondering if there is anything I should be looking for in regards to imported cars? There seems to be extremely cheap deals for imported cars and wondered if there is a reason for this, does it affect insurance price? Is equipment level the same? Anything that needs to be swapped out or doesn't work here apart from Sat Nav? If you were offered two identical 350Z GT's, same mileage, condition etc and one was import and one was UK model and the import was £1-£1.5K cheaper would you buy the import?
  22. Quite a few cars I have seen on the net say they have Sat Nav, but reading some posts on here I take it if these are Jap imports that the Sat Nov won't work in the UK? Can anyone recommend a good sat nav solution which fits the dashboard neatly, don't know what size of a screen is needed to fit that gap nicely though?
  23. As my own insurance is up for renewal on 21st March I just done a Confused.com search and found a quote which has almost halved my renewal price from Admiral. So thought I would do a new search based on the number plate from a 54 plate GT I went to see. I have 9+ years No claims discount which I always have protected, have had no claims at all. I have just turned 40, we have an underground secure car park in Partick, west end of Glasgow and the cheapest quote was for just over £900 which has a £500 excess when I only have a £200 excess just now..... Does this not sound very expensive to everyone? Or is this the norm?
  24. Thanks to everyone for the warm welcome and another thanks for all the advice so far. I already use Shell V power as it makes a good bit of difference to my turbo powered car just now so that should not be a difference and it appears the MPG is very similar to what I get just now as well even though it's a 1.2L bigger engine. Regards the East Kilbride thing, is that the monthly meet which was mentioned earlier? I play pool on a Thursday night in Paisley so might struggle but if I can get the time I might pop over.
