Nooooooo, my poor standard headlights! I was so close too, my car is hopefully going into the bodyshop in the next month or so! Oh well, it will do my bank balance good to wait for you to start up again! All the best with the new contract Paul!

No worries Chris. This is the stuff the guy from http://www.performanceoilsltd.co.uk/ was recommending to us anyway and he is an official Amsoil dealer. Here's the thread where he and Opie issued their recommendations: viewtopic.php?f=25&t=2973 However, as Amsoil points out, the Motul GEAR 300 is NOT intended for LSD applications. Here's the blurb for it: "Specially designed for racing vehicle gearboxes : speed way, rallye, raid. All mechanical transmission, synchronised or not synchronised gearboxes, gearbox/differential, transfer gearboxes and hypoïd differentials without limited slip system operating under shocks, heavy loads and low revolution speed or moderate loads and high revolution speed." So I went for the Amsoil SVG instead. No problems so far!

Ah yes, I meant to add that you should get the rev limit raised to 7200rpm when you have the UpRev map done! I think the losing time thing is more in terms of quarter miles times though due to the extra gear change, which I'm not really bothered about. The increased in gear acceleration should make real world driving much more fun though! Can all models be safely raised to 7200RPM? If so thats very intersting for the older 276HP owners Well there seems to be plenty of guys in the US doing it. I read one guy saying he had been running his car like that for 3 years without problems. I guess Adam at Z1 might be a good one to ask.

I don't know what you mean by "a bit heavy duty", but it has to be able to widthstand the shock forces generated in the diff which are much higher than in a gearbox. It's the correct viscosity and is intended for use in LSD applications. You only need an LSD additive if the oil isn't desigined for LSD use and needs to be boosted. Here's the blurb from the link I attached: "Recommended for use in differentials, manual transmissions and other gear applications requiring any of the following specifications: API GL-5, MT-1, MIL-PRF-2105E, Dana SHAES 234 (Formerly Eaton PS-037), Mack GO-J, or the differential (hypoid) gear oil specifications from all domestic and foreign manufacturers such as GM, Ford and Daimler Chrysler. Can also be used in axles where an API GL-4 lubricant is recommended."

If you want a noticable increase in performance for reasonable money (i.e. not forced induction) this is my long term plan: 4.08 Final Drive kit from Adam at Z1 auto: http://www.z1auto.com/prodmore.asp?mode ... rodid=2833 This will give you 15% more at the wheels and will be a very noticable increase in acceleration, probably more than any other mod on an N/A car. Revs won't get silly high when cruising either, about 3650rpm @ 90mph in 6th. Get ZMANALEX to fit it for you or a local transmission specialist. Expect it to cost about £1000 supplied and fitted I would say. The £ is getting stronger against the $ now so this mod is getting cheaper all the time. Motordyne 5/16" ISO Thermal Plenum Spacer: http://www.z-store.co.uk/index.cfm?fuse ... rentCat=28 A proven performance mod for £220 and most people can fit this themselves. Uprev stock ECU remap at RSTuning (oop north) or Abbey Motorsport (down south): Circa £500. Along with the plenum spacer this should get an early car knocking on the door of 300bhp and 270 torques. Not that the numbers really matter. The main thing is that combined with the gearset and plenum spacer you should have a pretty savagely accelerating car! You could always get an exhaust and induction kit too but I wouldn't expect much in the way of gains for them, it's more a noise thing. I'd just go for a Cosworth or K&N drop in filter and maybe replace the stock exhaust with a Nismo when it fails.

Bump on this one Can you recommend a diff oil for me please, Simon? 04 GT, no track use, just normal Z driving which for me is lots of motorway and the occasional blast. In other words, standard diff oil rating for the Z but a good brand I've already got Millers going into the gearbox but Millers don't seem to do a diff oil for LSDs. Oh, and do you do those fancy oil filters with the magnetic bit in the middle? Cheers Chris Myself and a few others on here have gone with the Amsoil Synthetic SEVERE Gear Oil 75w-90 (SVG): http://www.opieoils.co.uk/p-1053-amsoil ... 0-svg.aspx Hope this helps.

I got one of these recently: Cosworth panel filter: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Cosworth-Air-Filt ... 286.c0.m14 After swapping it the induction sound did seem a bit louder and the car seems a bit perkier. Could be a placebo effect though and I was replacing a stock air filter that had seen 6 months of use. They only make them for pre 06 cars though...

Is that for early cars too? I was hoping to get the rev limit on my 53 plate UK car raised to 7200rpm as the guys in the US seem to be doing it without any bother.
-
Liking the Dyna's, they should be a big hit with the BMW crowd too (I know they are in the US). Any plans to bring out the Linea Corse Z2S in 19x8.5 Front in 19x9.5 Rear? They are my absolute favourite wheels for the Z!

How low is the Ings kit? I seem to remember someone removing theirs after a while due to it being to low and being a bit of a headache for a daily driver. Not sure which kit that was though as I know Ings do a couple of them (LX and N1 IIRC). It's always worth considering stuff like this as practical headaches can really take the shine off your mods.

No, the piggy back does the same thing, i.e. remaps the car. If you have the remap then you don't need a piggy back unit. To be honest I think the whole Zed ECU mapping market will come down to Uprev remaps for the majority with an extreme few going for full ECUs. I can't see why anyone would want a piggy back unit now as it's more costly and more of a fudge than the Uprev method.

They look great, good to see them on a proper colour too. I'm planning on getting the centres on mine painted anthracite but now I'm in two minds as the silver looks really good...

Ah, interesting reading.

The thread makes even less sense than it did before now!
-
Is it me or have the first two posts in this thread vanished?
-
And those are 18s too, 19s would look even better!

Can't hold out any longer - sending a PM now!

They work on Sunset too!

Awesome, bet that things leaves creases in the road! Is it a stock bottom end then? What rev limit did you go with? When you say the MAF is maxing out at 6500rpm, do you mean with the pressure it can measure? If so could it be an issue in winter as I assuming the SC might make a bit more boost then?
-
A supercharger on the stock ECU - brilliant! I'm amazed the stock ECU can handle positive pressure actually, I'd assumed it would only be geared up for NA use. Can't wait for the graph!

I sold a couple of sets of wheels on ebay last year for around £500 each and I was shocked with how much in fees I paid. As others have said it's only worth doing it for cheap items now. The other great change they've made is that as a seller you can no longer leave negative feedback. So the scrote who "won" my item on Sunday, hasn't paid, and is now ignoring my emails, will probably get away with it and there's nothing I can do to alert others to his behaviour. Other than selling stuff on various specialist forums (like this one), are there any decent alternatives to Ebay?

Apparently the Rays are popular on the SXOC if that helps?

+1. It'll save me flogging them!

Yep, totally agree. I for one am grateful that a decent tuning company has finally decided to address to stock 350z ECU. Whilst I'm sure RSTuning will do well out of it, it will save us lot a hell of a lot of money and headaches too. You really don't want to run an aftermarket ECU unless you have to IMO. And you're not a million miles away from Manchester either! Do you guys do servicing etc too or are you purely tuning?
