Hi all , would anyone know the part and type number for the compressor on my 2005 GT4 plz ? It apparently has the VQ35DE Throttle Up engine installation and searching for a compressor argues it's not the standard one . Wasted over an hour trying to make sense of aircon sites online . Even looked at refurb companies and that was just as pointless ! Mine is probably on it's last legs , if I start the car after some days the belt / bearings screech like a pig and the aircon smells strange inside in hot weather , like an old paraffin stove . Anyone's knowledge welcome

Well the car got serviced, got new cam sensors fitted and got a clean bill of health from the mechanic. Apparently all she needs is a tiny bit of rust cleaning up on the front subframe and it should have no problem going through it's mot. For a 22 year old car I'm more happy with that.

Nice pal, tell the garage not to worry if the new sensors don't resemble the old, Nissan updated the part which superseded the old all plastic design.

They said they think my bumper has been resprayed quite a few times which apparently means the paint becomes weak and starts flaking again. I think you’re right, I’ll try some more paint shops, I think that one before was pulling my leg.

I would try another body shop,why change the bumper?

Hi guys. my front bumper has flaking paint where the front bumper meets the bonnet release catch and lots of stone chips. I have been suggested by a paintwork shop that I’m better off buying a new front bumper and having it re sprayed. any suggestions on where sells good quality front bumpers for a decent price? thanks.

Totally get why people make the comparison, but ECUs really don’t age the way consumer electronics do. Years ago I worked in automotive electronics, and the architecture of an ECU has almost nothing in common with a laptop or phone. They run fixed‑purpose firmware, not an operating system. They communicate over CAN/K‑Line, not Wi‑Fi or USB. And unlike a home computer, an ECU is designed to survive a level of abuse that would kill any consumer device instantly — they’re literally “shaken and baked” through extreme vibration, heat‑soak, cold‑soak, humidity, electrical noise, and EMI testing. If a PC went through even 10% of that, it would die on the spot. So a 22‑year‑old ECU isn’t “old tech” in the way people imagine. If the car is running well, the sensors are healthy, and you’re not pushing beyond what the factory logic can handle, the stock ECU is still perfectly capable. A standalone like Haltech or Link only becomes a benefit when you need extra control — big cams, forced induction, custom fuel strategies, race features, etc. For a weekend/track Z that’s staying NA or mildly modified, the OEM ECU is solid and more than up to the job.

I've owned my Z for 9 years now and its a weekend/track car . It's a car I plan to keep for a long time and I am not worried about resale value. My question is would there be any benefit from a Haltec or Link ECU the reason I'm asking is because I don't think we would be happy to use a 22 year old computer for anything else in life.

Thanks guys, I'm just about two weeks into ownership now and I'm loving it. It's got a few minor niggles that I'll have to get sorted at some point, I've got it going in to my local garage on Monday to get a full service and good check over then and swap the camshaft sensors for new ones then I'll see about getting it the way I want it to be.

inlet manifold should swap across, sure the Elgrand engine isnt any different around the cylinder hear area. Running Auto gearbox , there is a controller/ecu for the auto box that is in the car loom not the engine loom so will take some time to strip out of the loom , the engine/gearbox ecu need to see wheel speeds , this comes from the ABS on a 350Z via the CANBUS, I can't tell you how a Elgrand sees wheel speed signal thou. NATS is easy just need a Uprev license to turn the NATS off

Hi everyone, Joined tonight, just going to lurk, buy , and slowly strengthen the 350z I got very recently. I'm the 3rd owner of a stock Enthusiast 350z model, seriously low miles for the age of it.Previously ran a Saab ( right into the ground too...) so this wee thing feels like a whippet in comparison... I'm on the East coast so can anyone recommend a good garage to use? Another question I have is: Wheel Arch liners--- can these be fitted without much fuss , without a ramp or jack?I have a delivery soon. About half of mine fell apart and then got crushed underneath on a fast run one night through to Glasgow. Cheers!

I recently fitted Conti sport contact 7s all round on the 370z, I have been blown away with the huge lateral grip, in the dry whatever the speed whatever the corner there is just a mountain of grip. Not really an all weather tyre though. For a year round daily I'd probably look at a Michellin cross climate or a Conti all season.

Hi i have just purchased a 2005 roadster its been well loved by its previous owner but does need new rubber Any thoughts on tyres? Im looking for a good all rounder and as I live in scotland wet weather performance is a must would appreciate any advice cheers
