The Sainsbury's Christmas advert.

Last year I visited the Normandy American Cemetery Memorial. Standing there looking at crosses as far as the eye can see really hammers home the cost of war. It was a very moving and humbling experience, and I think it's something everyone should do.

Lovely ad that. I rode through France and Belgium this year and the huge amount of war graves everywhere brings home the scale of loss. Very moving .

Made the trip a good few years ago to Normandy and varying places with regard to the war, the d day landing beaches and other key sites and also a lot of the graveyards, truly humbling, especially the unmarked graves and some the ages on marked graves!

I found it very touching, seen it for the first time last night, and not ashamed to say it brought a tear or two. I was in the forces for 12yrs, and never went through anything like those guys did in weeks. Terrible living conditions, poor equipment and clothing yet they carried on and did us proud.

Part of the marines training is a trip to the Normandy American Cemetery Memorial, I can only assume it's to give a perspective on the gravity of war and respect for those who have stood in their shoes before them

I've not watched the advert itself yet but my facebook newsfeed is awash with people either saying it's the bestest advert ever or it's sickening that Sainsbury's are cashing in on war. Needless to say the latter are not Daily Mail readers!
