Size for Tyres Front and Back

Al,

just a quick question. Looking to get the following all round (front and rear), Pirelli P Zero 245/45/ZR18.

Just wanted to check this configuration would work or would I need to go to 225 at the front...?

Regards

Jesse

Not sure what you mean by factory wheels, sorry but going to get them from tyreleader...

He means are they Rays alloys? GT4 alloys? etc

Generally the Zed is supposed to run a staggered tyre set up. E.g: With Rays alloys for example the tyre sizes would be 225/45/18 Front and 245/45/18 Rear. ;)

225/45/18 front and 245/45/18 rear.

And not Pirelli, they're awful. FK453 would be a much better choice and cheaper, too.

Heard quite a few complaints about FK453's, Hankook Ventus V12's or Kumho KU39's would be better choices IMO.

No complaints from me ~ I really like them. :)

Defo not.

The traction control would come on and you would not get above 25-30 mph.

As I found out when I put 245/.35 on the front and 275/40 on the rear.

Soon as I put 245/40 on front she was fine :)

The aspect needs to be the same.

Ok just to confirm if I ran the following setup, would it work.....?

Front - 245/40/18

Rear - 245/45/18

I've been running this setup since April no issue at all including drift and track work , but your front wheels arnt as wide as your rear so will look funny I'm using 9.5" wide wheels alround

I think we can both agree that telling someone that running same size tyres all round is not a good thing to do unless you're deliberately trying to have car that is unstable at the rear. For drifting yes, I get that, for road use no way.

i have to say, a 245/40 tyre is actually 1% smaller in diameter than a 225/45 tyre, so i think those sizes would maintain correct difference so as to not mess with the traction control... but there would be handling differences running a square setup on a car designed to run staggered widths.

Will it work was the question answer is yes

Is it advised on a staggard rim set up no

Well, it'll work in that "Man, I love ditches!" kinda way ;)

I ran a 225/40/18 front and 255/35/18 rear on my lmgt4 best set up I ever ran for handling/traction control

i think we're confusing the guy guys come on

to the OP -

You want 225/45/18 on your front wheels

245/45/18 on your rear wheels

these sizes if you have the manufacturers factory wheels

PIRELLIs are not very good for the money

Thanks for the advice guys. So I'll be sticking with the staggered approach and going for

Front 225/45/18

Read - 245/45/18

If not Pirelli's any other recommendations...

If you were looking at Pirelli prices, then the Michelin PSS are the ones to go for.

If you cannot stretch that far, then something like the FK453s would be worth a punt.
