Clutch recommendations/help please.

Hi, my clutch finally died this weekend, lots of slipping when putting the power down, so time for a replacement.

It is the original one and has nearly done 80k.

Looking for a replacement that won't cost the earth and would be suitable for the odd track day etc.

Car is a standard 53 plate GT.

Cheers Steve.

Thanks guys, appreciated.

Without sounding too daft!! Why would you change the fly wheel as well?

Would the damping springs etc be worn?

Because it's a bitch of a job to change the clutch and the likelihood is that the fly will be worn to some degree or another.

Basically while youve got the box off and clutch out you might as well do it

Thanks Will :)

We can supply an OEM Exedy with either the LUK dual mass flywheel or a lightweight single mass flywheel which is a popular option.

We also have a current great deal on a stage 1 Competition clutch, get in touch if you are interested :)

Hi all,

Thank for the information, so both it is.

This has opened a can of worms.........

I understand the duel mass helps damp vibrations etc. what benefits are to be gained with a lightweight single please?

Cheers again.

The single mass flywheel is lighter therefore allows the engine to rev more freely, as it has no moving parts unlike the DMF it generally gives no issues.

They are not for everyone though, there is increased idle chatter from idle to around 1500rpm so if extra noises is not your think stick with the DMF. That being said most people we sell the SMF to are very happy with it :)

Heres some options we offer
