Main and Rod bearing oil clearance on high power

Hi,

 

Who can help me.. i looking for people that has been building vq35de for high pwer (500 hp +) and know te clearance on the bearings thats used and the oil to run on.

 

standand is in the attachment.

 

i had a bearing fail on the rod on10W40 and .00020 on he rod 630HP and 2000 mls

Is that right - .00020 ??? That sounds mighty tight! Did you mean 0.002?

 

Looking for my specs now for you (if I can find them again) :)

I doubt they know anything about engine building

 

they seemed very knowledgable when i spoke to them, they are often asked about custom engine builds etc but I can only guess you speak from experience otherwise you wouldn't have posted

 

thought they could advise on oil

When going high hp the consensus is to go to the limit and some! I will be planning on running mine with the limit specs as shown in your table but only after 480-500whp (wont get it but hope to be close). The guys over the pond run 0.003" and 0.0032" there is an active thread on it at the moment on another site ;)

can you put the link of the trhead?

I would rather we start putting up our own findings if anyone has them, I will in a few months time hopefully now my pistons have arrived.

Wiseco recommend 0.0035" on my pistons normally they will give you a guide when you order.
