Flex Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 Someones offered to meet me half way to look at a golf 1.4, obviously from cold you can gain a lot (i.e. if it starts first time, blows a load of smoke out etc). Just wondered what opinions are? Or does the seller sound too desperate? He's in northampton, I'm in Norwich so would probably train over to cambridge. Any thoughts anyone? Quote
firemansim Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 If your only looking should be OK but don't take any money with you. Quote
Zhorno Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 I personally wouldn't . If I new I had a good car for sale I wouldn't go out my way to sell it , because it's a good car it will sell anyway Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote

I'd happily travel a bit to meet a buyer if I felt they were serious. But, at the same time i'd still rather see it start from cold. I bought my Zed when it was warm and I sold by motorbike when it was warm, no problems with either. Quote
Zhorno Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 Luck of the draw I think a lot of genuine sellers and buyers and then there are the ****s Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
brillomaster Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 how old is the car? if it was an old, high miler i'd want to see it start from cold ideally - if its only 3 years old and done 25k id probably trust it was fine. Quote
Ekona Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 Car may start from cold but have hot start problems, and vice versa. You'll never protect yourself against everything, so just do the best with what you've got. It wouldn't bother me either way. Quote

mattross1313 Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 I would drive the extra and see it start from cold. I always make a point of asking for this when I go to view a car. I met a guy once halfway and the car was nothing but problems. Depends how far you want to go, and for what car i guess Quote
Flex Posted February 12, 2014 Author Posted February 12, 2014 Tbh I'm fed up, everything I want to see either goes same day or is light years away. Total ball ache city. Quote
docwra Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 I wouldnt worry, and TBF Norwich to Northampton is arse kicking distance. Im going up to Newcastle to look at a car in the next week ........... and have just found out its cheaper to fly from Heathrow than get a train from Cambridge. WTF? Quote
