Giraffes were created when John Smeaton hit a horse with an uppercut John Smeaton was originally cast as the main character in 24, but was replaced by the producers when he managed to kill every terrorist and save the day in 12 minutes and 37 seconds. The reason we all love it is that he is a typical Scotsman, as he describes sinking the boot into the terrorist (ie kicking him) on national TV on more than one station. The guy is just a genuine bloke who encapulates the whole Scottish philosophy of don't think you can f*** us about and get away with it.
