CERN opens its doors September 28th - 29th - fancy a drive?

All the nice Swiss roads start about 3 hours to the east. :(

Comeeeee on, stick your name down!

I suppose I've got a 2013 Vignette already... not particularly interested in CERN though. I'll see if I can get a few days off and maybe spend the day driving around the Alps while you're being geeks. :p

This all got a little out of hand when I mentioned it at work. The upshot is a few will be going, but flying out, not road tripping. Boring I know, sorry to bail but I'd want a week off to drive there and take in the surrounding mountain roads/alps. A week off isn't happening that particular week.

PS - you can rent a 911 at Geneva Airport...

Has anyone seen how hard it is to get the experiment tickets? They were available for all of 4 minutes today. I'd suggest getting your refresh button ready if you are trying. I'm going to see an LHCb Experiment (Point 8), super excited....

Anyone know what that is?

 It'll be an education then!

As long as I see a black hole I'll be happy ;)

Looks like some decent bars in Geneva, shame the hotel I'm eyeing is in the red light district...

Flying out tomorrow for a few days touring before the weekend. Getting the world's fastest car, don't know make & model yet, but rental with damage waiver :teeth:

You still driving down Octet?

Just a few snaps from CERN, I'll post some up of the road trip round Switzerland when I get through them.

CERN was super geeky but also really cool, the stuff on show was incredible and the sheer coordination to make it all happen every day is astonishing when you look at how many bits and pieces make the whole thing tick over.

It was all about getting one of these. Not many get to go underground, even fewer get to go in the tunnel due to the radiation normally present.

Just because you understand physics doesn't mean you can brew up.

Cool pics - wish I could have gone - I will do one day, it's right up my street! Love this stuff. B)

If you get a chance, jump on it. Hugely interesting even for an amateur like me. Also Switzerland has the best virtually empty roads!
