Turbo-G Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 Hi All, This morning I noticed that the sound from the passenger side speakers was very faint when using the OEM CD player. When I shifted the balance over to the left, sound was coming out but very faint and distorted. Switching to the right side was fine. Now, I would normally assume a cable has come lose or the speakers are knackered, but when using the radio it's perfectly OK... Anybody experienced anything similar? Car is a 54' UK GT Pack - standard. Quote
Dblock Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 Common problem. Do a search there is a fix for it. IMO the best fix is to rip the bose out 1 Quote
glrnet Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 +1 but here's the guide if you decide it's worth saving http://www.350z-uk.com/index.php?showtopic=20413 Quote
Turbo-G Posted June 18, 2013 Author Posted June 18, 2013 oh my, thats quite extensive. I'm happy with the standard system, other than the fact it doesn't support an AUX input or music over BT. Looks like I may need to consider replacing the head unit with something aftermarket. Trouble is, I'd want it to look like it's supposed to be there (and still support the standard speakers, sub, phone preparation and steering wheel controls. 99.9% of after market head unit installations look awful unfortunately Quote

KyleR Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 get one of the cheaper head units then, they tend to look more OEM than the more expensive touch screens. Pretty much all HU's will support all the speakers, sub and steering controls, however they won't support the OEM BT module, but will have their own built in which will only mean routing a wee mic to somewhere out of the way. spursmaddave Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 How can an aftermarket unit look worse than a 10 year old cheap piece of tat with a cassette player? Quote
Turbo-G Posted June 19, 2013 Author Posted June 19, 2013 The fit is generally pretty poor, and the illumination different - therefore they look out of place generally IMO. Thanks for the suggestions all. Quote
spursmaddave Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 I think the tape deck looked out of place even in 2003 when the Zed arrived.... Quote
Turbo-G Posted June 20, 2013 Author Posted June 20, 2013 Wouldn't argue with you there, my aim with this car is to keep everything standard though. Driving home from work today, the left speakers were working OK again on the CD player... random. Quote
