The Motorcycle Thread

Recommended Posts

Apologies if this is a re-post but I couldn't find a thread when searching.

There's a successful thread for the 'awful' kind of bikes without engines (OP's words, not mine), but what about bikes WITH an engine?

I think there are a number of members that also own or have owned a motorcycle, so, what ya got? What you had?

I've been riding since I passed my CBT at the age of 16 on a freezing November morning, in a pair of waterproof gloves (that weren't), a pair of trainers and a ski jacket. :teeth:

Here's my list:

Suzuki TS50X

Kawasaki KDX125

Honda CB250N (Yes, a Superdream - bought as a project to work on as my first 'prper' bike till I passed my full test).

Yamaha XV750 Virago (a bit 'choppered' with flames on the tank - don't ask....)

Yamaha FZR250RR EXUP (JDM Import. 250cc, 4 cylinders, 16 valves and Redlined at 19,000 RPM)! :scare:

Kawasaki ZXR400

Suzuki GSF600 Bandit (Jacked up and 'fightered) B)

Yamaha TRX850

And then my love affair with mid to late 90's sports bikes kicked off...

Kawasaki ZXR750 J2

Honda CBR900R Fireblade (The foxeye one)

Yamaha YZF750R (Cadbury's Boost replica)

Ducati 748S

Triumph Daytona 600

Ducati 748S (yes another one)

My current bike is a Suzuki GSX-R750 SRAD WV

Laverda 650 Sport .....thought it was a good idea at the time.

ZX6R (back to sanity)

916....launched into the gravel at Knockhill.

Fireblade...954 version which was the best.

ZX10R ....Mental version, which was just scarry.

and a couple of crossers over the years for mud.

Wish I had still kept them all. Not really a bad one out of the lot.

zx6r J1 (silver and black) only passed last year so does as a first bike. Barely been out on it though due to the good scottish weather

I hear you about the weather.....think I got 4 days last year where it didn't rain. And even them, ground temp was around zero!!!

I used to blame the weather for me not riding my bike, but now I have a new scapegoet - My Zed.

My car is mostly the reason I sold the last 748. I couldn't justify leaving it sat there in the garage and still having to change the belts on it every 2 years regardless, so I sold it and bought the GSX-R and pocketed some dollar (which ended up being spent on the Zed). Just leave it plugged into the Optimate and get it out if I feel like it, which is not very often now :(

I just picked my bandit 1200s up from the garage, shes an old brute but does me fine, owes me nothing at all and makes a nice change to the car. T reg 14000 miles on the clock!

Had a part share in a fireblade track bike, that was crazy, and pretty uncomfortable to ride, so I got out and will now just use the bandit.

Might get a ZZR or ZXR at some point if I have the cash laying around, tbh honest though they are just stupid quick and I think I'd find it frustrating not opening them up all the time so would have to take them round the track to get it out of my system.

I think that's the worst thing about a motorbike, having the temptation there, takes a bit of restraint at times.

It's cool being a member of a car group and also being a biker, get respect from both!

Hi guys, I have had bikes since I was 16 in 1979, I know ,I know, had mopeds to super bikes. I have been lucky enough to own a few bikes that are so called iconic bikes RD 350 LCD, Suzuki 1100 Katana, Hayabusa.

I always changed things as you do, then I started to heavily customising.I then went on to doing street fighters I did a 1990 1100gsxr slingshot, first of the upside down forks. This one was front cover and centre spread of Streetfight magazine.A father that I the did a 1984 Suzuki 1100efe, this one was front cover centre spread of 100% biker,it was on display at the nec and Manchester bike shows and also on Eurosport tv.This was also a crossbow calendar bike and I won best in show at the extreme street fighter show. While all this was going on I was customising my Busa.Well what do I say,the list is to big so I will tell you all another day about this one.
