leightonjames Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 Hi everyone, Spent some time over the weekend fitting a new head unit. I bought it from halfords at the reasonable sum of £120. It's a pioneer fh-x700bt, with built in Bluetooth, USB, aux etc and sounds pretty awesome! Doesn't look bad either! Comes with the microphone for calls and gives much better clarity than the POS jvc single din which somebody felt the need to put in before! Quote
Pnthrblkzs Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 Got any daylight pics? I've been considering one of these for my car, I love the look of the double din screens but I just won't ever use a DVD player etc. Jon Quote
spursmaddave Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 Looks a bit too star trek for me but glad you like it 1 Quote
Devilz101 Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 I was in Halfords today and that unit kept changing colour. Does it always do that or can you turn it off and lock it on one colour? Looks quite bright. I'm looking for a double din myself. Quote
leightonjames Posted March 27, 2013 Author Posted March 27, 2013 pnthrblkzs - will get some daylight pics up tonight for you. Devilz - you can keep it one colour, and can pick from 210,000 different ones! Will be matching mine to sunset orange If you don't want it bright, it has a dimmer too. Quote
Flex Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 Looks a bit too star trek for me but glad you like it For me that would be a big plus Quote

leightonjames Posted March 27, 2013 Author Posted March 27, 2013 Not sure, it already had a JVC unit in before so not sure what connectors it had. Don't buy the link you just sent though, way overpriced! I bought the same facia but the pioneer can't screw into it so had to bodge with elephant tape! Will post some pics of the wiring I have as well. What year is your z by the way? We could help each other here as some of the wiring isn't right in mine (the sub has no power) and four wires have been cut from behind the HU! Cheers Quote
Devilz101 Posted March 28, 2013 Posted March 28, 2013 That doesn't sound good. Mines an 05. I've not taken the stereo out yet. I replaced a stereo on a previous car and failed to get the radio connected so was going to get a professional to do it this time. Quote
leightonjames Posted March 28, 2013 Author Posted March 28, 2013 Would you believe it, mines an 05 as well! Definitely wouldn't pay anyone, it's pretty simple! And halfords are really useful to speak to and get an opinion (for free!) I'll take a picture tomorrow morning and post it up for you to see what I've got plugged in where, would you be able to do the same? Would help me loads! Cheers, Leighton Quote
