Wasso Posted January 27, 2013 Posted January 27, 2013 Polished is sooooooooooo 2012 You're right..... There will be a new design after Wales. All will be revealed at the LakeZ Quote
taras Posted January 27, 2013 Posted January 27, 2013 (edited) PITA or black? Unless your a bling whore I'd opt for Black. Edited January 27, 2013 by RT-Performance Quote
The Bounty Bar Kid Posted January 27, 2013 Author Posted January 27, 2013 Maybe polished red... Quote
The Bounty Bar Kid Posted January 27, 2013 Author Posted January 27, 2013 Ian, have you any photos of what the polished red comes up like? Quote
Wasso Posted January 27, 2013 Posted January 27, 2013 As in Anodised red? It'll start off polished then anodised. Quote
Wasso Posted January 27, 2013 Posted January 27, 2013 (edited) Sorry no pics If you search AEM red intake that'll give you an idea. So you could finish with a brighter effect and its not a PITA either. Edited January 27, 2013 by Wasso Quote
ChrisS Posted January 27, 2013 Posted January 27, 2013 As in Anodised red? It'll start off polished then anodised. Work for the 'Empire' Ian. But I was thinking along the lines of sprayed or powder coat gloss red. Quote
Wasso Posted January 27, 2013 Posted January 27, 2013 Powder coating would be a flatter colour and painting would produce a nice finish if lacquered. Quote
The Bounty Bar Kid Posted January 27, 2013 Author Posted January 27, 2013 Powder coating would be a flatter colour and painting would produce a nice finish if lacquered. But would heat ruin that though? I wanna get something that will be easy to maintain if I go coloured. Quote
Wasso Posted January 27, 2013 Posted January 27, 2013 Both will be easy to clean. Polished is easy to clean. But with bare uluminium you need to make sure you clean it often to avoid oxidisation (Adrian!) Paint or Powdercoat will be very easy to maintain. Quote

The Bounty Bar Kid Posted January 27, 2013 Author Posted January 27, 2013 That almost looks like a dark anodising. Can you do that? Quote
taras Posted January 27, 2013 Posted January 27, 2013 (edited) Yes Pain In The Ass. When you have anything polished, you'd need to keep it polished or it'll just look a mess in time. Its not fun and very time consuming trying to keep your engine bay presentable. I've done the entire polished engine bay and hose and bolt thing in the past and trust me. It's a lot of work to keep up appearances. So unless you hardly drive your car and would like to open your top, flash your bits in every given opportunity like you live in Chelsea, I'd go for something which is presentable yet practical. LRF4N Posted January 27, 2013 Posted January 27, 2013 Black is pointless in an engine bay- you won't see it, polished is common for a reason. Go for a colour or polished. I had a red aem intake on my zed I was happy with it Quote
Wasso Posted January 27, 2013 Posted January 27, 2013 Well mine is a daily driver and as long as you speed detail the polished items they stay in good nick. Anodising Aluminium will protect it from oxidising but still you need to keep it clean. Quote
spursmaddave Posted January 27, 2013 Posted January 27, 2013 Just something else to waste time cleaning and polishing.... spend your money on some fuel and go for a nice drive Quote

The Bounty Bar Kid Posted January 27, 2013 Author Posted January 27, 2013 Nothing wrong with keeping her clean and then taking her out for a drive! Washed my baby twice today. Once at 8am, then when I got back from the meet. Quote
